Hello guys,
I just got an email to confirm my appointment, but I haven't received an actual date yet. Please, has anyone here gotten their appointment date already?
How long did it take after confirming before they sent the appointment date?
And also how fast is the appointment. Do they give like 2 weeks, 3 weeks notice or how long?
The appointment dates are still given in chronological order. Last date I know was around end of January 2024, so they'll continue giving dates from then. Notice is about 3 weeks iirc

Hello everyone,
Can someone please explain this new issue regarding transcripts at the embassy? I heard that some applications are now being rejected because the embassy believes applicants may not be able to complete their studies due to low grades on their transcripts.
It's not a new issue.
I know other cases where it has happened, albeit not in Nigeria.

thanks alot bro/sis, please can I get the link to the new appointment booking portal on how to book date for ausbildung visa with my b2
Ausbildung isn't done on the new portal, you register on the old portal under 'vocational training' it was in the screenshot you posted. The waiting time there is still 1 years plus. I've heard from some people that getting a pre-approval (Vorabzustimmung) document can speed up the process exponentially (down to a month or so) but I'm not really sure, you'll have to confirm that yourself and maybe talk to your employer about it.

This is what it shows if you tick that you have B2 in German, have filled your forms and uploaded relevant documents, it shows submit for preliminary review immediately, when you submit it shows that you are waiting for preliminary review, then it takes like 2-8weeks wait time for preliminary review.
Instead joining the waitlist like regular students.
You can try it yourself and see it.
Odd that they did not update their website then. Do you know someone with B2 that has then gone through preliminary review with this?
TravelRe: General-german-student-visa-enquiries Part 8 by pineapplejuice: 7:57pm On Oct 09, 2025
Novainni:
On the new portal? Have you tried it? If you have B2 in German for studies visa, it shows waiting time of 2-8weeks.
I don’t know about Ausbildung oh.
The waiting time is not accurate. It just changes depending on the volume of applications submitted. About 3 months ago it was showing 2-8 weeks for thise going for normal courses that would fall under 'Category B'. Till date, they haven't been able to submit.
It can show 2-8 weeks for 1 year or more, till whenever it's possible to submit.

Jesus are you serious? I already have a b2 and a contract for ausbildung but no date3
I also have a b2 goethe certificate. I still waited since October 2023. Only PhD students, scholarship students, first class graduates and fellowship participants get a fast track. Having B2 is not listed by the embassy as to what gives priority.

Am happy for you
Is there any insight or advice to give others on the waiting list.
Or any group or even telegram channels one could join while the are waiting to know new updates and what the could do.
I made my application submission since March, no response yet.
You joined the waitlist March this year? There's still a lot to go. This week probably they'll enter January 2024, they stopped at December 2023 last week.
One just has to exercise lots of patience, good luck. Yes there's a group, however I can't post the link, look like 2 or so pages back someone has shared the link here.

It doesn’t take more than one year for everyone. Those going for PhD or having scholarships or 1st class or B2 in German don’t wait for a year plus
Having B2 doesn't speed it up.

Guys does it mean we can't apply for appointment through this means again
For student visas, you have to apply on the new portal (Consular services portal), upload your documents and join the waiting list there.

If the embassy asked for rental agreement from Landlord in Germany and you still in Lagos how should someone go about it ? I thought hotel booking should be okay ?
Please 🙏 advise
Why did they ask you for a rental agreement? I've never heard them doing that. Did you put an address on your videx form?

Dear Nairalanders,
I really need advice on way forward.
I applied to German embassy for visa interview date since November of 2023.
I finally have gotten a date after the long wait.
The admissions I got in January this year could not be deferred as communicated by the school.
I have applied for another admissions which I expect Success or reject mail by end of December, 2025.
The embassy require that I come along with evidence of admission and funding in three weeks time.
Any advise on how I can manage this, I have waited forever to blow this opportunity,
I need advise on way forward please
Reschedule your appointment if your documents are not ready.

Yes. Incoming health insurance
Thank you!
So the educare24 plan is just incoming insurance correct? For enrolment I need a different insurance plan?

Under 'start of insurance' you selected the assumed date of arrival correct?

How did you register? did you use the link that enables you register without a bank account?

I used a link that allows me register without a bank account. and if your insurance starts on 1st OCT, you must pay on that day. You can request for their account number for you transfer the fund. but be cautious.

"The coverage remains active, and payment for the active period is required, even if you do not arrive in Germany immediately."
I haven't registered, I have the link for the application without an account, my question as about travel insurance.
Tye mawista student starts only on the first of october, assuming i want to enter germany before then I'll need a different insurance no? The mawista visum one, but in the application I don't see the option to pay later, and if my full student insurance will start like a week later, I don't want to pay the full amount.

That's why I'm thinking of using Dr Walter, if anyone has experience with them too.
TravelRe: General-german-student-visa-enquiries Part 8 by pineapplejuice:
Can someone who used Dr walter private insurance please explain the process? (both incoming and full insurance for enrollment)
I'm completely lost.

Use your school address, you can update it when you get to Germany.

The MAWISTA staff who attended to me told to do so, and that's what I did.
Thanks, what about the 2nd question ?
Also do you now about the travel insurance? For Mawista do you need to pay everything upfront? Or is there a way to set it up that you pay when you arrive?

My circumstance is changed now. Initially I wanted to use a sponsorship letter but it is not possible again because my sponsor has a few person he is sponsoring, hence, his income will not be enough. So, I want to fund a block account.

Which is better Fintiba or Expatrio?

How long does it take to open the account?

Is it free to open?

Kindly inform me about this block account process. Please, it is urgent. my interview is 23rd September 2025. I need to open and fund this account before the date. Help me, please.
I think expatrio is better, I'm currently using fintiba and honestly they have serious wahala.
Also based on what others on this forum have said, fintiba can seriously delay you with their 'proof of source of funds' stuff.

Yes, I did. That’s how I found out I had already registered with the same email, because it redirected me to a page saying “Your appointment has already been confirmed.” I was about to register again when I realized this.

Please, do you have an idea of when it might likely get to my turn for an appointment? I’m only asking because this is why I haven’t been following up, I keep missing out on admissions, and I was also out of the country for quite some time.
They're currently at November 2023.
They've been moving quite slowly since March. But now that the summer break is over and there are less reschedules, i think they might speed up.
I cant give you a certain estimate, perhaps end of this year to early next year.

Excuse me, I just realized I mixed up the details earlier. My apologies .

I actually applied in April 2024, not 2023. Since then, i have received two emails, the first with my reference number and the second with a confirmation link for the appointment.

A few weeks ago, I got a third email asking me to re-confirm my email, but this was when I tried reapplying cos I didn’t know abt the first one , and that’s when I realized I had already applied earlier in 2024.

So , so far, I have ONLY received 2 emails from them regarding my application in 2024. I guess that was why when I tried clicking the link lately, it took me to a page showing me that “ Your appointment has already been confirmed”.

Hope you understand. Na me make mistake with the info earlier on.
Oh okay.
Did you confirm your date a again in the email they sent a few weeks ago? Hope you didn't register again?
If you did confirm, you're on the waiting list.

No need to forward them.

Hello everyone,

So, I initially thought I would have to go through the whole stress of applying and waiting from scratch. But I just found out that a friend who once helped me apply to some universities had actually started my visa application back in April 2023. Since then, I have only received three emails, all dated from 2023.

Does this mean I’m already on a waiting list? I haven’t seen any email that clearly states that. Also, how can I confirm if my application is still valid?

I’m new to all of this, so I’d really appreciate your guidance. Thank you!

P.s

I was given a reference number in one of the emails( the second)
You're already on the waiting list? What were the 3 emails you received?
People who joined the waiting list in april have gotten their appointments long ago, since February this year.

I recently applied to a German university for a sports related course, and a few days ago I received an email confirming that my application has been accepted.

My main concern now is timing. The semester starts between September 29 and October 1, yet I haven’t even begun my visa application since I’m very new to the whole process. I was considering applying from Ghana because I’ve heard appointments in Nigeria usually take much longer to schedule.

Please can anyone help me with any information or advice regarding these issues ?
Regardless of where you apply from, the chances if you meeting your resumption date are slim to none. To apply from ghana you need to have 6 months residency, and they also have their own waiting list too of a few months, although not as bad as ours

In Nigeria, the waiting time is creeping up to 2 years. They are currently giving appointments to early November, 2023.
