Please i want to ask.
In our passport, where we have the biodata page the passport number details there is 9 in total including the Alphabet.

But when you look down to where you have that country code stuff, theres an additional number there which wasn't part of the normal passport number.
Abeg people that had gone to the Embassy should explain this to us,let us not wait in vain. Is it 9 characters in total including the Alphabet?? @Hannania
None of that is part of your passport number. Your passport number is 9 characters including the letter.

Deebeloved:
Hello everyone, this is going to be a long post so I am sorry in advance, please bear with me.
Firstly, I am grateful to all the kind and generous people on this platform who constantly share genuine and good advice regarding the whole visa processing.
As someone who has been silently observing this thread for the past two months to monitor visa updates, I am simply amazed by how selfless and encouraging people can be on here, it's really motivating. Thanks once again everyone.
Please I'd appreciate your kind inputs and advice, my questions are thus:
1.) I applied for Category B study visa for masters program on the 21st of December 2024, on the old platform and I got a reference number, of which I was told the waiting period was over a year. So, since I was sent a confirmation email that my booking was successful, I just want to be sure of this, I have no business with the new visa application portal, right?
2.) Also, since the waiting period was initially almost 2 years, I had mentally calculated that my appointment date would probably be sent around 2026, however as the updates here mentioned that the embassy was speeding up the process recently, I began to wonder if it won't be too late to wait for 2026 winter admission because my appointment date might have been sent before I get my admission letter, so I was considering applying this April for 2025 winter admission, which starts in October 2025 for my desired institution, is that a good choice?
3. Is there any slightest possibility that the embassy can actually get to December 2024 this year with the current pace? And if my appointment date is sent after my school has resumed for winter session, will my visa still be issued provided I have all the required documents?
4. I don't remember clearly, but I think when booking for the study visa appointment, based on my initial premonition about the waiting period, I had chosen October 2026 as intended start date for the winter admission, so if I gain admission for 2025 winter session instead and get my appointment date, will I be queried during the interview for writing a different start date or does it not matter?
I anticipate your kind responses and sorry once again for the long post. Thanks in advance.
1. Yes, you have nothing to do with the new portal.

2. It's not really predictable now, it's best to just have an admission at hand.

3. Again, it's unpredictable, nobody knows. And I'm not exactly sure how the thing works, if the appointment date comes after resumption, you would either need admission for the next semester or some letter saying you can join later, idk, someone else can explain better.

4. I don't think it will matter, cause the waiting time was 2 years, so it'll be understandable you calculated with that time.

Please assist…
I’m a first class student. Already gotten MSc admission to Uni Kassel but I can’t find where it is indicated on the new visa appointment portal to apply as category A.
My resumption is on 1st of October.

I also want to know if it’s okay to open my block account with EXpatrio while I arrange for fund to transfer into it in few weeks time.

I need your advice please😌
You just apply on the new Portal. They caregorise you themselves based on the answers in the entry form and your documents.

The time is currently 20 months from registration. They could speed up, they could slow down. Nobody knows.

Hello guys, I applied for a scholarship but was admitted on self funding basis to the RUHR Bochum University, however I am still applying for external scholarship but want to begin the visa process, my questions are
1. I noticed there is a new application process where you just upload all docs online at the initial stage, does this make the processing time faster? or it is still about 20months waiting time?
2. do I need IELTS or TOEFL for visa application? or a certificate of proficiency from my uni can suffice?
3. I saw first school leaving certificate needed? for real?
4. If I don't get the scholarship, I don't know what to do cos tuition alone is 16k
please advice me
1. As of now, the waiting time shortened since last year, but it is still at 20 months. They are currently at July 2023. Once those who applied on the old appointment system have gotten their appointment, they will start giving appointments to those who applied on the Consular Services Portal.
4. You could apply for a different school.

No it's not. I attached a screenshot.
Then it's strange indeed. But I have heard that with applying for Studienkolleg some universities implement different grade requirements, not sure though. Could be the case here.
TravelRe: General-german-student-visa-enquiries Part 8 by pineapplejuice: 12:46am On Mar 18, 2025
Come to think of it, there could be a reason.
Did the course at Ilmenau have an NC (Numerus Clausus)?

I am still searching the other one i saw has a paid tuition about 6500 - 7000/ Year.
No,

Kiel(closed for winter semester), coburg, konstanz, karlsruhe, Darmstadt, Leipzig, anhalt, zittau, Nordhausen
Accept B1

I just saw your edit, idk, seems like a problem with the university.
Was it for this coming winter or the current summer semester you applied for Nordhausen? If its the coming winter semester leave it, bit if it was summer semester try applying through a different university, preferably one via uni assist.

Some of the ones listed above have only T/TI kurs and not M kurs. Although T/TI kurs may be accepted for Biomedical Technology at some universities, some others might not accept it.
Note that TI kurs is for Fachhochschulen only.

When you have your B2 certificate you have more options.

Yes i did, I also got help from my brother who studies there.
I don't know why they would reject you, maybe they've started rejecting applicants.

There are however other studienkollegs you can apply to with B1.

we4u:
Details to check the WAEC, you mean?

Their response was that they cannot go into the real reason why it was rejected at this moment. Saying you are welcome to apply to another course
Yes, details to check WAEC.
I can't think of a reason as to why you would have been rejected.

Odd. Are you sure you followed the correct application procedure for both?
TravelRe: General-german-student-visa-enquiries Part 8 by pineapplejuice: 11:48pm On Mar 17, 2025
we4u:
During my research i saw that it was classifed as an M-course. I attached my result
You should be.
Hmm, strange. Did they provide you with a reason for your rejection? What are your scores in your B1 exam? And did you give them the details to check your result?
TravelRe: General-german-student-visa-enquiries Part 8 by pineapplejuice: 11:34pm On Mar 17, 2025
we4u:
Okay, Most likely reason number 2. I mean i have science background and i applied for BSc. Biomedical Technology.
Biomedical Technology could be T or M kurs, but if you're a science student you should have all the required subjects (maths, physics, chemistry, biology)

we4u:
I did not apply directly to Nordhausen, I appleid through TU Ilmenau. Can you shed more light on that. Maybe i went about it wrongly
That's how it's supposed to go, you apply at Ilmenau or any other university in the state, they check your documents and your application is sent to Nordhausen, you don't send any application to Nordhausen themselves.

The only reasons I can think of for a rejection is if
1. Your WAEC scores are low or
2. You picked a course that doesn't align with the subjects you did in WAEC

Staatliches Studienkolleg via Technische Univeristat Ilmenau
Studienkolleg an der HTWG Konstanz.
Are you sure you didn't have missing documents? Konstanz I'm not sure of, but I've never known Studienkolleg Nordhausen to reject people. Perhaps your WAEC score isn't sufficient? Which course are you going for?

Hello everyone,

I am currently seeking advice regarding Studienkolleg applications, as I have faced some rejections in my previous attempts. I would greatly appreciate connecting with others who are also pursuing this educational path or have successfully completed the process. So i get one or more ideas.

Little Background

- WAEC Certificate
- B1 Goethe Certificate.

Currently, waiting for my B2 result.
Which ones did you apply to that you got rejected?

what i mean is after you have completed your visa appointment, how soon before you get AM from the embassy for CAT B. I know CAT A get their AM in a one week.
Oh sorry, I misunderstood, some Cat B people get theirs in a very short time as well, I guess it depends on when you're resuming.

It's great to be back after a long break! It's been 5 years since I started my journey from here (Part 5), and I must say, relocating to Germany has been the best decision I've ever made. To all the applicants out there, keep pushing forward—trust me, you won't regret it. God bless you all, and a big thank you to those who take the time to respond to questions here. God bless you!.

Quick question: my brother just got accepted into AD, but unfortunately, he hasn't secured admission yet. What's the best way to navigate this situation?
Please when did he register for an appointment?

Also, I'm not sure if it's still possible now, but he may be able to reschedule, those who know more about it can answer.
