If they would’ve gone to a hospital in Nigeria, the staff might have explained the kidney donation process to the boy and told him about all the risks and medical care he’d need in the future. If that would’ve happened, he wouldn’t have boarded a plane bound for the UK to donate a kidney. They went to London for all the testing so it would be harder for him to change his mind and the costs would be picked up by the NHS.
I suspect the modern-day slavery aspect came into play when they boy appeared reluctant after the procedure was explained and he was still forced to continue testing.
