Culture › Look Around And See More Fully The World Needs Your Ability And Care by pinkycute(op): 3:48pm On Oct 08, 2014 |
Well, We all come from a particular culture. And our culture shapes who we are and how we are. It is our history, our ethnicity, how we think about family, our music, who we include, the holidays we celebrate, the food we eat, with whom we eat, the expressions we know, how and when we speak, the way we think and make judgments, how we pray, and how we relate to God, each other and strangers.
Sometimes our journey to unknown takes us to the edge of our understanding or to the outer boundaries of our comfort zone as we encounter different people or different cultures. And our first response may be to pass by saying "I don't want to go there or stop here. " But it is at these times when we need to nudges ourselves to "Cross Over" our fears, assumptions, and our set ways of thinking about others people culture and the way we live, in order to respond to the world and see the boundary situations around us and help we our ability and responsibility to love and care for others..... ( just my opinion ) |

Nairaland General › Re: Things You Should Never Apologise For On Nairaland by pinkycute(f): 12:04pm On Oct 05, 2014 |
Am just observing shaa OduntanGabriel: 1) Your Past Post: Do you have someone who always go to the archive to bring out all your previous post incase it contradicts your new article? Telling you I have been noticing your post (last year ,you said you are married, this year you are single, blah blah) forget this stalkers, you don't have to apologise for your past post here. It is your life, live it.
2) Your Abusive or insulting comments on Nairaland: No matter what u post here on nairaland, some sections of people will praise u while others will yab u.They are meant to happen,Nairaland is an interactive forum ,ur ideas cannot be generally accepted. Therefore there should be no apology for the insults you get here today, they will praise you tomorrow eg( this na d 1st time u go post sense since u don dey post here) my bros manage am.
3) Correcting grammatical errors: Corrections of grammar is one of the beauty of this forum, we have someone like "gbagaun detector" who has always been correcting many errors on this forum and some great people who are wonderful writers. They owe no one any apology, therefore don't take it personal when you are being corrected,i have been corrected many times and no matter how hurt i felt, I learnt from it.
4)BEING YOU: Are u kind of weird? Sometimes nerdy ? Are u always a clown(even in a critical post all u do is to comment with funny stuffs) If other people can't handle it,that's their problem- as long as you like yourself "kokanaye"
5)Expressing your emotions:Do u have to apologise for sharing your emotions? Expressing your emotions is a healthy behaviour and its not something u should practice concealing. You owe no one any apology for that.
6) Giving your honest opinion: let's say seun asks if we are happy with the mods performances, you should be free to say your mind and owe them no apology. Even if that is gonna make them block us for weeks,u owe nobody any apology.
Notable mentions goes to the "omo-oniles(landowners ,spacebookers),garri sellers and buyers, ftp, the thunder doing press up people etc.... Fellow nairanlanders add urs abeg,I don try |

So" why is he Super nice" when his acting is unknown to you!!!! by dear, just back of, the guy is not urs Gracious10: I have been dating my guy for almost a year now. He is 15 years older than me. I am in my late twenties. This guy is super nice but i have issues bothering me about him. 1: He never introduces me as "his girlfriend or woman" ( he calls me baby when we are alone and my name when people are around)
2: He never returns my call promptly, he returns calls in 48-72 hrs and when i demand explanation, he gives excuses of being too busy and would call back when he has time for it! He also accuses me of insulting him and i still apologise. I have never used a curse word on him cos i understand what respect is.
3:we cant have a conversation without him rubbing his age on my face. I am literally scared of showing displeasure in his attitude towards me cos i dont wish to labelled rude and insultive.
4:He loves to ignore me for days no matter how worried i am of his welbeing.
5: He is stingy. If i dont ask for anything, he won't bother doing it for me even if my hair looks nasty. I dont ask him for money because by the grace of God, i can comfortably take care of myself. I have never being a financial burden cos i know everyone has bills. And i believe a man should provide for his woman the way he can no matter how little. A good woman will appreciate that. I love this man to bits, i have been completly transperent to him and to my commitment to God. The more i try to reach him, the more he appears to be invisible.
Recently, he treated me his normal way in public, practically avoided me and sneaked out of the event without informing me of his exit. He later asked me to join me in a resturant, i refused to go. He appologised but i think this guy has been planing to leave me. So i decided to stay away for a while and since then, he hasn't called. I have peace within me, I believe i shouldnt force anyone to be with me. Relationship is a two thing. I believe he has his own side to the story. Apart from what i have mentioned, this guy is nice.....But with what i have presented, should i still hope he will come back? I am not dating anyone and dont wish to date till i understand what went wrong here and how i can fix it moving on. Thanks for your help. Your comments would be highly appreciated. |
