Yesterday, Ovation publisher, Dele Momodu, shared this new photo of President Buhari and his wife, Aisha, on his IG page. He captioned it "Someone just sent me this picture of our dear President MUHAMMADU BUHARI and our gorgeous First Lady AISHA BUHARI... Love is so beautiful". One of his followers queried him for celebrating the first family instead of criticizing them. Head coach of the Super Eagles, Gernot Rohr has disclosed that he will field a much changed side, for their last 2018 World Cup qualifier against Algeria in Algiers. Nigeria is already through to the tournament in Russia, following the Eagles’ 1-0 victory over Zambia on Saturday in Uyo. However, Rohr insists he will take the game against Algeria seriously, but will also give a lot of players a chance to prove themselves. It means players like John Ogu, Oghenekaro Etebo, Kelechi Iheanacho, Anthony Nwakaeme, etc could start against the North Africans. “We never go to a match with second team, we want to win our last match as well. At least not to lose so we can qualify without losing any game, it will be wonderful this is another challenge but I think we will play a second friendly game perhaps in Morocco to see all the players who couldn’t play in our previous games,” Rohr said. http://www.looknaija.com/2017/10/algeria-vs-nigeria-never-go-match-second-team-want-win-last-match-rohr/ lalasticlala |

The Nigerian Army has launched its 2017 training operations tagged Exercise Crocodile Smile II, in Lagos and Ogun states, areas covered by troops of 81 Division. The force disclosed that the exercise commenced in Ogun and Lagos, on October 7, 2017 and will end on October 28, 2017. The exercise could, however, progress to an operation when they start going after criminal elements in those states. Spokesman of the division, Lieutenant Colonel Olaolu Daudu said in a statement, Monday, that the exercise will also avail troops the opportunity to sharpen combat skills in the conduct of land base as well as joint riverine operation. The division spokesman reiterated that the exercise may transform into real operations to deal with emerging security challenges such as kidnappings, cultism, armed robbery, pipeline vandalism, and insurgency, among others. These, he said, were within the division’s area of responsibility. The army also warned that Exercise Crocodile Smile II is not targeted at any individual or group. “Law-abiding citizens are advised to go about their normal businesses without fear. Dates and locations of the various humanitarian activities, such as sanitation exercises and free medical interventions will be announced in due course. “The division also wishes to allay the fears of the public, as they will witness increased movements of troops and equipment during the period. “They are please requested to cooperate and support us, to ensure the success of the exercise, which is aimed at making the Nigerian army responsive to its constitutional roles,” he said. http://www.looknaija.com/2017/10/nigerian-army-commence-exercise-crocodile-smile-ii-lagos-ogun/ lalasticlala

The Igbo community in Adamawa State on Thursday dismissed the agitation for Biafra. Leader of the community, Godwin Onemaka while addressing journalists in Yola, described the struggle for Biafra as unnecessary. Onemaka urged the agitators to consider the consequences of plunging Nigerian into chaos by divisive activities. Citing the effect of another Civil war, Onemaka maintained that Biafra agitation had failed and there was no need to restart it again. According to Onemaka, agitators should have a rethink because people of the South East extraction are looking for ways to develop there selves. Onemaka said, “Biafra agitation has failed and there is no need to restart it; the agitators should consider the interests of the Igbo in other parts of the country. “We, the Igbo in Adamawa, kick against the agitations for Biafra and we view it as an unnecessary capable of plunging the nation into crisis. “We advise the agitators to stop, so that Nigeria will remain united and they should remember that since the agitation had failed in the past, revisiting it is unnecessary. “We are looking for a way of developing ourselves and the country while most of us have invested much outside south eastern part of the country. “So, we want to distance ourselves from the agitation, we have lived in the northern part of the country for years and our children have studied there most of whom are graduates now.’’ http://www.looknaija.com/2017/09/biafra-failed-project-one-nigeria-igbo-community-adamawa/

The apex Igbo-socio cultural organization, Ohanaeze Ndigbo yesterday visited the Muslim Community in Igbo-Eze North Local Government Area of Enugu State. The visit led by the President of Ohanaeze in Enugu State, Chief Alex Ogbonna, was to commiserate with them over the fire incident which engulfed a mosque in the area. A mosque located at Ogrute, the council headquartres was early morning of Saturday last week engulfed by a mysterious fire, which razed the entire roof down. Ogbonna, who led other members of his exco to the mosque, said he was in the area to re-echo the existing peace and bond existing among all the residents of the State irrespective of their religious and ethnic differences. Ogbonna, who expressed sadness over the inferno, urged the Muslim faithful to accept the development as an act of God which should not be allowed to affect the existing cordial relationship existing between Christians and Muslims in the State. “We are here to sympathize with you and to tell you that whatever may be the case, we shall continue to be one. “You have been here for several years and there has never been any incident of whatever form. So, our appeal is that you all should continue to live in peace. “So, the essence of our coming here today is to show solidarity with the Imam and thee Muslim community in this area. “We have Christians, traditionalists and Muslims in this State and all of them practice their religion unhindered. “There is absolute freedom of worship in Enugu State and as such everybody is free to pursue their religion. That’s why we felt touched that this happened to a house of God”, he said. Ogbonna further stated that “we felt that what happened is quite unusual because this is the most peaceful State. The Governor is a peaceful man and that is why in Enugu, everybody sleeps with two eyes closed. “Also, from what we have noticed today, almost all the Muslim faithful here, including the Imam are Igbos. So, this is internal; this has nothing to do with ethnic group or religion. Our people should not be afraid at all. “However, we are sure that God will find a way in distant time to see to the erection of a better mosque here.” In a remark, the Chief Imam of Enugu-Ezike, Alhaji Ali Osai expressed happiness with the Ohanaeze leadership over the visit. He stressed that they had lived in absolute peace with adherents of other religions, stressing that “the peace will be sustained.” http://www.looknaija.com/2017/09/enugu-mosque-fire-ohanaeze-visits-muslim-community-appeals-calm/ lalasticlala
