https://www.bbc.com/news/world-australia-54775199 The boss of Australia Post has resigned after authorising a A$20,000 (£10,500; $14,000) gift of luxury watches to four employees as a work reward. Christine Holgate, chief executive of the national postal service since 2017, had been strongly criticised for what many saw as a waste of public money. The gifts of Cartier watches in 2018 were revealed by a parliament inquiry last month, prompting an investigation. Prime Minister Scott Morrison said he had been "appalled" by the spending. Speaking last month, Mr Morrison said the British business executive "should go" from her role. "Every dollar that goes to Australia Post is managed on behalf of Australian taxpayers and it should be done in a way that respects the taxpayers," he said. Australia Post is run by an independent board but is owned by the Australian government on behalf of taxpayers. Australia records zero Covid-19 cases On Monday, Ms Holgate announced she had offered her immediate resignation to the board. She said she wanted to avoid being a "significant distraction" for the mail service before the busy Christmas season. "I have made this difficult decision to leave to enable Australia Post to be able to fully focus on delivering for our customers," she said in a statement. Ms Holgate has consistently defended the gifts as a reward for performance, saying "you need to thank and reward positive behaviours". The work of those employees had secured a A$220m investment for Australia Post and "dramatically improved" its financial performance, she added. "However, I do deeply regret that a decision made two years ago, which was supported by the Chair... has caused so much debate and distraction and I appreciate the optics of the gift involved do not pass the 'pub test' for many," she said in her statement. Australia Post has played a critical role during the pandemic as the primary delivery service for goods. Ms Holgate said it had delivered 300 million parcels nationally and supported over 80% of online businesses in Australia since the virus began spreading locally. Prior to joining Australia Post, she had been celebrated in the private sector for her success in leading Australian vitamin company Blackmores. Her successor is yet to be announced. https://wiredgram.com/australia-post-boss-resigns-over-luxury-watches-scandal/

justwise:Is there a higher chance you'd secure a job if you study International Business or Economics at University? |
justwise:Hi Justwise What about Business related field? |
Hello everyone I just need to drop this here. Don't mind anyone tell you UK, USA, Canada is better than other European countries, If you have the money to go to USA go but if you don't have choose cheap European university and you'll enjoy it. There's something called "Bologna Process" in Europe which means a Masters degree in Estonia is equivalent to a Masters degree in Germany,UK All European university and grading system are equal. Do your research properly and search for "QS World Ranking" on Google to find university and their world Ranking Tallinn university is better and have good ranking than some universities in UK according to their world rank. If you have doubts about Estonia you can look up for universities and English programme in: 1. Sweden ( you'll find many English course but tuition fee is up to $10,000- $15000 per year and lots of job opportunity in IT, science, business field) 2. Spain( Few English programme like Business administration and tourism, health education and tuition up to €2500-€7000. Unemployment rate is slightly high in Spain, about 11%) 4. Germany( This country is better and it's like the USA of Europe, most populated, most diversied, and more job opportunities for foreigners.there are few bachelor's degree in English but most masters degree are in English. I'd advice people going for masters degree choose this country.) 5. Netherlands (Tuition fee in Netherlands is slightly high $10,000- $30,000 per year but most course are in English and there are lot of job opportunity here. Pardon me for forgetting some countries too. According to my research and my friends personal experience avoid country like Cyprus, Ukraine,Moldova,Serbia, for studying. I have never been to this countries some of this country have low population, some don't give good jobs to any foreigners. Don't let my writing discourage you they are just my researches. ANY EUROPEAN COUNTRY YOU GO TO, TRY TO LEARN THEIR LANGUAGE, MAKE FRIENDS, TRAVEL TO OTHER EUROPEAN COUNTRIES TOO. AND DONT COMMIT CRIME, AVOID IT TOTALLY. IT WILL STAIN YOUR CV. |
I hope you're not using this as an excuse to quarantine those officers who killed him |

When Bin Salman purchased the Chateau Louis XIV - he didn't want anyone to know about it. He carefully concealed his ownership by using shell companies in France and Luxembourg. But after further investigation it turned out those companies are under the Eight Investment Company umbrella - a Saudi firm that's managed by the head of prince's personal foundation. Emad Khashoggi, the nephew of billionaire arms dealer Adnan Khashoggi, developed the property - bulldozing the original 19th century castle and rebuilding it with 21st century amenities. In fact, it is so hi-tech - fountains, sound systems, the lights, and air conditioning are all controlled by iPhone. There are two swimming pools at the property, one indoors, one out.
