Webmasters / Google Will Now Favor HTTPS Sites In Results by playnaija(m): 6:07pm On Dec 18, 2015
The world's favorite search engine, Google, has already developed a highly complex algorithm of its own when it comes to serving search results to its users. Webmasters and website owners around the world try their best to keep up with Google's algorithm, but with each new update, it keeps getting difficult.

The latest addition to Google's list of metrics to bear in mind when deciding a website's page rank is the use of a secure connection.

Soon enough, Google will now start prioritizing secure HTTPS URLs over non-secure HTTP ones. As such, if you have a website that uses an SSL certificate and serves pages via HTTPS, and a similar website with nearly the same quality of content, but sans SSL certificate and using non-secure HTTP to serve pages, Google will rank the first site (the one with HTTPS) higher than the second one (the one without HTTPS).

Of course, HTTPS is not the only deciding factor, and tried and tested methods such as link-building, quality of content, website design, etc. will all still continue to come into play. But yes, going forward, HTTPS will be *one* of the many factors that Google will consider when deciding a page's rank.

If you an existing website owner, you can redirect your HTTP visitors to HTTPS. Google has published a detailed blog post explaining the reasons behind its decision to bump the page rank of SSL users, and also outlining the best practices for SSL usage.

What do you think of this move by Google? Share your views in the comments below!

From your explanation, you, the index page or login page, you need access to it, you can assign a new password by going to the phpmyadmin, look for any related to login or user details, then click edit and enter your desired password in the password field, if the password is not visible, it may be encrypted with MD5 mostly, just select md5 and enter your password in the password field

Politics / A Tale Of How Econet Wireless Was Destroyed By Corruption by playnaija(m): 7:54pm On Oct 05, 2015
It’s time to play by a different (ethical) set of rules (Part 7) Nigeria 1 of 5

___Sometimes the price can be very high in the fight against corruption.

I had the privilege of making Nigeria’s first GSM phone call back in 2001 when I called the regulator to say, “We’re live!” Who would’ve believed then that Nigeria today would have more than 167 million mobile phones?!

It all started out as a very exciting new chapter for enterprise in Africa. Shortly after President Obasanjo was elected, the new government announced an incredibly transparent international auction process for three national mobile phone licenses.

To participate in the bid, you not only had to raise money, but there had to be a member of the bidding consortium who was an experienced GSM operator. Econet Wireless met the requirements because of its experience in Zimbabwe and Botswana. Our Nigerian partners, which included state governments, local banks and high net worth individuals, were financial investors. The largest shareholder had only 10%. That was the written agreement.

I managed to assemble a consortium of 22 investors to put up the money needed to bid. Our shareholders were all Nigerian, mostly institutional investors including leading banks and two state governments, Lagos State and Delta State. The license cost us $285m and was the most expensive license ever issued in Africa at the time. This was 2001.

We considered the investment not only about putting together a network, but also about building a nation. We knew it had the potential to transform Nigeria’s entire business and social architecture.

Most of our investors had between 1-10% shareholding. Econet Wireless Nigeria had only 5% of the shares, but that was fine because it was 5% ownership of a very big pie.

As the "technical partner and operator," Econet was the company with the expertise to build and operate such a business. Our financial investors recognised this, and also allowed us to receive 3% of the turnover as our fees. This was standard practice in the industry.

We were one of the winning bidders and they gave us just six months to set up business and get our network operating. We were under a lot of pressure but our network was live two days before the others! Customers were pouring in. We were number one in the market with an estimated 57% market share.

___Then came the fateful day when I was told that our company must pay a total of $9m in bribes to senior politicians (in state government) who had facilitated the raising of the money to pay for the license.

I refused to authorise the illegal payments. Meeting after meeting was held to try to get me to agree, but I would not. The money would not be paid as long as Econet was the operator and I had signing authority.

James Ibori, the Governor of Delta State, was demanding $4,5m be paid to him in his personal capacity. He was one of the most powerful men in the country and had a reputation for violence. When he heard that I was refusing to approve payment he issued an ultimatum:

___"Pay or I will chase you and your people out of the country."

I refused.

The shareholders met and voted Econet Wireless Nigeria out of management. They cancelled our management contract. James Ibori and his colleagues personally attended the meeting to remove us. After the meeting one of them (a prominent local businessman even today) came up to me and said: "Unfortunately for you, God does not have a vote."

I had to withdraw all my staff and their families: 200 people in all. We left Nigeria.

Most of our people had to be retrenched. The loss of the contract almost drove us to bankruptcy as a group.

They invited a big international operator to replace us as technical partner and operator. They changed the name of the company from Econet to V-Mobile.

Within days of their arrival, the managers of the new operator signed off the payments demanded as bribes.

Then what happened?

A few noble Nigerians had both the integrity and courage to carefully collect all the documentation on the movement of the money, and pass it all on to me.

___There’s a saying worth remembering in uncovering the trail of destruction that is corruption: “Follow the money”…

I bided my time... then I wrote a letter to the United States Department of Justice!

It was 2003.

Romance / Things A Lady Can Do That Can Help Keep Her Marriage And Her Husband by playnaija(m): 5:52pm On Aug 20, 2015
It no news that men are used to having a side chick after marriage, even girls this days are more comfortable dating married men to single men. Why this trend like this, I may not know as most of the low and high class ladies are involved in this, so it not necessarily about money. A lady in marriage must understand she has the sole responsibility to build her home. If she fails to do this, her marriage may end up in disaster.

Respect Your Husband
This is important if you are to have a happy home, you need to understand what your husband love in order to do this. Being submissive do not mean respecting every words from your husband but showing him comfort when need be. For example, it would reward a wife that support her husband when he can no longer provide for his home maybe because he lost his job. Respect means giving due regard and loyalty to your husband in a supportive way.

Be content With Your Husband
Do not start by finding faults in your husband in any way, learn to accept things as you get to understand your spouse as you both live together. You need to to learn to build a healthy relationship and communication rather criticize every actions. It is better to put things in prayer rather than complain about it, and see things from the positive angle, always speak positivity into your marriage and about your husband. Avoid gossips from friends that see only faults in your husband, you can achieve this by turning a blind eye to most things happening.

Work on your Beauty
No man want to be with a woman that do not upgrade herself. Do not get too comfortable with marriage and stop taking good care of yourself, this would only ruin your marriage. Work regularly on your weight, shape through regular exercising, work on your smell by bathing regularly, putting on clean wears, and using the right deodorant and perfume. Try as much to look hot always. This would make you important in the eyes of your husband always.

Be Business Minded and Hardworking
No body need a liability, men are used to keeping things to themselves, so they are easily pressurized and filled with pressure, it is therefore necessary for you to reduce that pressure by assisting all the way, here I do not mean money, in the first few years of your marriage, you may find certain things about your spouse you may not love, as this shocking revelation are revealed, you must be creative to dealing with them so as not to mount pressure on your husband.

You must be willing to work on yourself and focus in life, build your personal capacity to handle responsibilities in life, build a career that you love and find rewarding, and let your life radiate beauty toward God and yourself, become whole with yourself. This completeness must not make you to ignore your husband but push you to be full of compassion and love toward him.

Romance / Things To Know Before Settling For Marriage With A Nigerian Lady In The UK by playnaija(m): 5:36pm On Aug 20, 2015
Well, I would not be writing this if it is not important, most men in Nigeria that are mostly interested in traveling abroad, had fell into this dangerous snare. So what is this article all about, it is about UK ladies, that are Nigeria, preying on Nigeria men, that are rich but looking for an easy way to become citizen over in the UK through marriage.

I remember one of my friend whose father was rich, he had always dream of going to the UK and working there. His first opportunity came after he met a lady in Lagos whom was already a citizen over there, she fell in love with him at first sight (Money, Looks, Family Name), she professed love to him and promised how they can both marry and live together in the UK. My friend also fell for her beauty and her promises, eventually, my friend's dad supported his son to the UK with the help of the girl to study Banking and Finance, but such did not happen without them doing a former marriage in Nigeria.

After they both traveled, had kids together, they were in love until my friend discovered that he could not secure his stay as his proposed wife is already married to another man with kids also, so he could not work, he had to just do babysitting, an they are yet to divorce, all attempts for him to persuade the lady to get a divorce paper proved abortive until he decided to abandon his dream and return to Lagos Nigeria. He felt fooled and tricked.

Well that is the same story of another of my friend so I decided to write about this. So, before you jump into anything of such, play along until you are sure of the following:

- She has never being married before
- Is she a single Mother, if so, be careful
- What is her family background
- Court Registry should better be done in the UK
- Check for her health for STD and others

Webmasters / How To Prevent Your Wordpress Blog From Crashing by playnaija(m): 9:22am On Aug 19, 2015
Thank you for reading my blog, I am very honored that you are a part of my life, today I want to share my knowledge on how you can protect your WordPress blog from crashing. If you are using a paid hosting for your WordPress blog, you would find this information useful.

Actually, WordPress blog are not meant to go down, it is a lack of understanding that makes such happen. Let start by looking at this things.
WordPress Comment
Dear reader, you cannot use WordPress default comment if your blog is to survive, spammer use this a lot to destroy legitimate bloggers and spam their link. To know more about this, I have written an article on this ( How to Prevent Spam for Wordpress Comment Blog Using Disqus ). It would help you a lot, it also important to note that it is not only Disqus you can use, there are others like commentluv that can prevent such from happening.

WordPress Membership Plugin
I am a webmaster, I really do not advice anyone to install any plugin on their WordPress application that would allow users to register online, this is because, spammer uses this medium to register fake accounts that would consume your server resources and space making your blog not to be accessible. If at all you intend to use this, make sure it is one done by a custom plugin developer.
WordPress Password
This another area you must check to make sure your blog is secure, do not use password that are easy to guess by hackers. A strong password must include alphabets, numbers and special characters like "-_+".
Installed Plugins
This one area that affect Nigerians, they are too lazy to do routine check on their blog that involves checking if their blog is up to date, all installed plugins are up to date. If you are using an outdated plugin, you are at risk of losing you blog to hackers.
Using Cache
I remember my first time having a traffic blog, WordPress was always consuming resources making my blog to go on and off, I decided to to find a solution to this and I discovered I had to install an addition plugin to handle that problem, either to use Cloud flare Services, CDN or a plugin, so I installed then WP Super Cache, Cache plugin would make your blog smarter and faster.

I hope this list help.

Romance / How Overcoming Covetousness Can Save Your Marriage Or Relationship by playnaija(m): 8:40pm On Aug 18, 2015
I want to thank my dear readers, this blog is all about you, today, I would be discussing a vital issue that has crippled most marriages and families, this evil is called covetousness. This has affected both the big and the small, rich and the poor. Everyday, we hear of stories about rape, broken marriages and sometimes, stuck relationships and many other vices.

Covetousness is an uncontrollable craving, desire for more than what someone already have, it is a dissatisfaction with ones position, money and this case marriage or relationship. In Hebrew 13:5, God warns about this for us to guard our heart concerning this. If coveting a woman you already have could bring that fulfillment, one would be glad, but rather it destroys it victims with grief that are unbearable most times. The more we search for that woman we seem would give us the joy we desire, and maybe lucky to have her in our life, soon we find fault and our mind restart the circle again until we finally realized we trapped in that circle of womanizing and never finding a perfect person to be with, no amount of beauty in that woman can fulfill that desire, or money a man has can fulfill that greed.

The truth is that you do not need another relationship to be happy, you also have not made any mistake marrying that person you once loved, you only got stuck not loving that person again or you stopped being committed to the relationship. The devil is a master of deception, he is so good at it that he always want us to find fault in a person that was not perfect in the first place. He deceives us into wanting to find a perfect person that would make all of our problem vanish, he slowly does this until thought is conceive. But really, can loving someone else make all your problem to be solved and go away? This answer is no, you are only lost in covetousness.

As I write this, I remember David in the bible that saw another man's wife bathing, thought about how he can have her in his arms, yes oh yes, a man after God's heart was tricked by the devil to believing she is the solution to his happiness. That action brought about the death of her husband, a child, God rejecting David and also his inability to build God a temple. Just imagine the calamity that befell that great king all because of lost. Was David's problem solved? Never but only multiplied. Instead of working on our marital problems and seeking God's direction, we move to seek joy in the wrong place.

Imagine the challenges you may face trying to covet another woman, you may end up contracting STD, broken homes, losing lot of money in the process, preventing God favour and grace upon your life and so many others.

More I can say, but I hope this article makes you thinks about the hurt you may be doing to your relationship and why you most avoid this.

Religion / Foundation For A Profounding Properous Life by playnaija(m): 9:10pm On Aug 09, 2015
For everyone that has reached a level of maturity had not been left untouched by the many blows of Life, life is believed to be filled with so many ups and down, but is this believe really true? The answer is YES and NO. Yes because everything that happens to us start right there in our mind, you will not need to worry about a bigger house if you had not seen and love one, you would never worry about your level of riches if you have not seen a richer person, you would not worry about your car or wife if you have not accepted another better alternative, it is just you creating barsoing. You see it all about our choices. Things only happen to us if we have finally conceded to defeat in our life battles.

Today I intend sharing some insightful thought that would keep you wondering why you have not notice the things going on that you could have changed. Two persons had cancer, one got healed, the other died, they both face same challenge but different mind battle ground, one was more equipped spiritually, no person was born to be spiritually matured, we have to train and learn it in our course of Life. Let get started with the principles for today:

What you magnify in your life become you

How true is this statement, check your current problem affecting you as you read this, then pace back to your thought a few days back, you would discover that has been your thought so far. If you magnify sickness in your life, in no time you become sick, if you magnify problem in your life, in no time you face various problems, if you magnify poverty instead of riches, you find yourself struggling in almost everything you lay your hands to do. Who are the people you listen to, are they positive minded or mostly complainers, this explains your daily encoding. In Phillipians 4:7-14, Paul emphasizes why it is essential for us to pay attention to our thought and but caution to it. A thief only thinks he cannot have, he cannot have enough from what he has, society is evil so he vexes it evil on others to amass wealth.

What Do You Talk About Regularly

I get irritated by persons that spend all the day speaking about their problems and why they are the way they are. If you speak too much about your problem, it becomes bigger, rather speak of the change you need to see. This should not be a one day thing, start from the little problem you are having until it because an habit and a character

Your Mindset

If your thought pattern is always about things you do not have, you may be a materialistic, envious and coveteous person, this means you have to work hard on yourself by first trying to make do with what you have and be happy with it. Allow yourself to heal over time from this hideous evil and you would glad you do this. It may seem difficult at first but you sure need to practice this.

Also, if your meditation and thought is always about sickness in the near future, fear of the future, poverty or not having enough for the future, just let go and trust in the almighty God for a better future. To make it simple, focus on what you can do for today and let the plan and vision for tomorrow unfold themselve.

Have a blessed week.

Webmasters / Improving Your SEO By Using Sitemap For Blogger Website For Google Webmaster by playnaija(m): 8:26am On Aug 08, 2015
Well as you know, it is important for a good webmasters to have good knowledge on SEO, to me, SEO simple means exposing your links to Google Search Engines. Today I would be teaching an important technique on how to generate sitemap for blogger, well, I believe you already know how to add sitemap to Google Webmaster Tool, if not, expect my tutorial for that tomorrow. Let get started.

Sitemap is an XML page that list all your post and link making it easier for search engines to identify them. For blogger, you already have a sitemap installed for you, all you need is the URL access. The only limitation is that the default list is only up to 25 post. So we would also expose how we can generate for all articles on your blog.

How to Generate Default Sitemap on Blogger
To access your default sitemap, visit this link:

http://yourblogname..com/atom.xml?redirect=false

How to Create a Full Sitemap for your Blogger Website
That list is limited to 25, so let assume you intend to list the first 500 posts on your blog, you use this link:

http://yourblogname..com/atom.xml?redirect=false&start-index=1&max-results=500

This would list the first 500 post on your blog, to generate for more pages, we need to just create multiple sitemaps like this:

http://yourblogname..com/atom.xml?redirect=false&start-index=1&max-results=500
http://yourblogname..com/atom.xml?redirect=false&start-index=501&max-results=500

Webmasters / Adding Meta Description To Blogger For SEO Optimization by playnaija(m): 12:27pm On Aug 07, 2015
Well, creating a meta description for your blogger template would help boost your SEO (Search Engine Optimization) as it is one of the prerequisite for a website. By default, this is disabled on blogger, so you have to add it normally to your template. Creating a Meta Description on Blogger is simple.

Step One
Click on Settings ===> Search Preference

Step Two
Once on the set search preference page, you can can enable the meta description if it is already disabled. Click Enable if Disabled.

Step Three
Enter the description for your website which would be reflected on search engines.

Step Four
If the meta description do not display, you may need to manually add it your template by editting under setting (Template ===> Edit HTML)

All you need to do is to add this to the header
