Damovate: I don't think, nd i don't even want NN to b trained alongside with other forces, just imagine 21ak were trained from July 14- December ending in PH., while 22ak were trained from January 4 November 2013, of which they spent 3months in zaria with NA before returning to akaso to complete there training, which led to d delay of releasin 23&24 AK final list. NN shud train on dere own while other forces too do so. dis joint training of a thing is not a gud idea at all, abegi ......
i totally support ur opinion, but if d only of getting the job is that, i think we have no say in such decision my broda. Not to talk of those that died during the joint training...a remember a naval official telling us them that 3 has died there- and a rumour that a guy among us has a brother who is dead also.

stagger: Thank you for your contribution. I have loads of information on cassava. I farmed it at subsistence level, intercropping with maize when I was much younger. I merely pointed out to pmann06 the value of knowing what variety he planted because it can make the difference between a successful harvest and a total crop failure. But like he identified, he went into it to see what it was all about and frankly, I give him kudos for at least putting into practice something he wanted to do unlike many graduates I meet here in Abuja and in my village calling me and asking me to give them work or give them money.
Thanks for your valuable contributions. Please what was ur experience with selling of cassava tubbers?

All of your inputs is highly appreciated. Thanks.
Nairaland GeneralWho Spends More Time In The Bathroom...men Or Women ? by pman06(op): 1:53am On Nov 28, 2013
This is according to research done in the United Kingdom. In addition, women spend an average of 1 year, 7 months, and 15 days longer in the bathroom than men. However, men spend more time on the toilet than women do (an hour and 45 minutes every week, compared to an hour and 20 minutes a week for women).

@stagger

Well as i said, i only took to planting as i had the interest in agriculture. I know about this varieties now, and i know how to get them from ibadan to my farm. My concern now is selling what i have now, and if the variety i planted yields close to the acclaimed 30ton/hct, why buy another, when i can easily replant my stems and save cost. Not until i sell the one growing on my farm, i wont know its yield. But thanks for your bit, its much appreciated, and do you have any experience with some buyers before?

I really do not have an idea as to the price flunctuation of cassava, when is best to sell. As for Nigeria starch mail their factory is in ihiala in anambra state, but they have an office in lagos.
I would advice you leave ur cassaave for 18 months so as achive yield of between 30 and above (note this only in a very ideal state, were best all best agronomy practices are apllied and varities are planted).

I would like to ask how much it cost you to grow a hectare and what variety di you grow?.
First am not an agric student, i just happen to risk planting cassava to see how it turns out, which means i have no clue about the variety i planted, i just source for it from local farmers. As for the cost, am sure you wont spend more than 100k. Just earmark 100k, but am sure you wont spend it all.

@ E-Jaja I have an hectre of land planted late last year in october in abeokuta. My plan is to sell in january when the price per tonne will be rising then, as according to my findings, cassava sells high around march - april. But is nigeria starch mills in lagos? Am jst a new graduate who took the risk of going into agriculture last year, so selling my one hectre profitably will determine how many hectres i'll plant this new year. And if you can help with the other buyers buying high in lagos, i'll appreciate that alot. Thanks for the input.

Realdeals: The problem with cassava is not getting the market but coping with the ridiculous price been offer by some buyers, can you imagine a buyer pricing a tonne of cassava for 20,000 naira.
you can also join the agriculture community on www. where you can interact with farmers and other agriculture professionals across the world and also downoad weekly prices of agric commodity/foodstuff from market in lagos.
Nice input bro, will peruse through the site if anything on cassava buyers is discussed.
Matna is in ondo state, Nigeria startch mill ins in anambra state and plstary is in oyo state, you can google them to get their full address
I think ekha agro is in ogun state. Do you know exactly how to locate them?

Cassava as dropped in the market as it is now, and a deal of 20k will be a good deal. But competitive price of buyers will help in knowing where to sell to for maximum profit.

I heard there are atleast 3companies in ogun state that do buy cassava, but i have no clue how to locate them.
@ pman06 and Emma the cassava market is big so it all depend on the varriety of cassava u grow, it your cassava has high starch content, you are better contacting nigerian starch mills, matna foods or plstary international.
Thanks for the info bro. Please, how was your experience with them? Do they have a price range that use to buy? I will try and search abt them and see what will come up.

Same thing happened to me in 2011, i had to pay 15k, as bribe, to have it released and the product was not even up to 30k that i was expected to pay. So it is very possible, cos it happened to me.

One thing i need to point out is that, NNBTS applicants started their registration since february, and went for interview even before your form was out, and their list is not out either, and neither are they planning on protesting.
