AlhamduliLLahi ladhi ahyana ba'da ma amatana wa ilayhi n nushoor.

AlhamduliLLah 'ala ni'matil Islam.

It's been a while really, observing Solah in this quite familiar agbalagba-dominated community Masjid.

The usual signs-
‪#‎ patronizing‬and coercing the 'I no go come Masjid' 'sleepers' and 'VIPs' with 'soul-searching' words and prayers for them to come to the Masjid to observe their Solah.

‪#‎ Then ‬to the Solah, one verse after Surah Al Fatha in each Rakah is just enough, I guess that's by 'popular demand'.

#Then the span of the last Sujud is probably longer than the time spent reciting Fatha and the one ayah that follows. *bukata must biya na, abi*

On the positive side though, some of the Adhkar recited after Solah conform with the Sunnah. For example, I was surprised, but relieved that it was Solatul Ibrahimiyyah that was recited instead of the common 'substitute(s)'prevalent in my dear Ibadan city. *(awa) omo Ibadan, kini s(h)ow*

The koko of this my early morning tori be say these our Babas don try. They have been very steadfast in their Da'wah of ensuring the Islamic legacy passed on to them from their own babas do not die. Even though the knowledge applied in the process might arguably be crude, the passion to see the Muslim community continue to grow and glow is obvious.

Evidently a lot still need to be reformed in these our societies. And this is why the youths should not just be lazy enough to sheepishly follow in the same steps of our dear Babas, without implementing the needed reforms.

It will be a crime on your head if you do not go out there to seek the proper knowledge of Islam, as enshrined in the Qur'an and Sunnah.

We must be genuinely concerned about improving upon the efforts of our fathers in rooting firm the Islamic culture in our communities.

If you continue to concentrate all your efforts in seeking greener pastures, without a care for upliftment of the Muslim community, then I wonder what will happen when the era of babas eventually come to naught.

If these Babas in the focus Masjid for this piece can learn to stick with Solatul Ibrahimiyyah in an environment where it is generally neglected or even resented, then there is hope that these our communities can learn to adapt to the structural changes of returning them back to the path of our righteous predecessors (whom Allah was pleased with and were pleased with their Lord).

Remember the steadfastness of the Ashab Kahf in reforming their community?

Most of what was discussed today is the various adhkar that should be said when leaving the home, when going to the Masjid, when entering the Masjid, when leaving the Masjid; explanations on them and other associated matters.

It was also mentioned how much steadfast the Prophet(PBUH) was in asking for Allah's forgiveness and seeking repentance too, 'AstaghfiruLLaha wa atubu ilayhi', even when addressing people in a gathering. We should take a cue from this too.

The little I could save....

#We should be steadfast in remembrance of Allah through Dhikr, Tilawatul Qur'an (Reciting the Qur'an), e.t.c.

#As true believers, we must believe that it is Allah Who gives us life and Sustains us, and it is He Who causes our sould to exist no more. The death of someone, young or old should therefore never be attributed to the 'powers of some supernatural forces or persons'.

#Even for a man who beheads another fellow, the fellow's death should first be ascribed to Allah's Will and the murderer punished for killing the fellow.

NB: We should check our Hisnul Muslim (citadel of the believer) for the appropriate adhkar in various situations.

#Q & A#

#Islam frowns totally at raising the place of the Imam in the Masjid above the ground level. Even the permissibility of one palm length above ground level is simply the opinion of Imam Malik(RahimauLLah).

#It is totally wrong for someone to translate what the Imam is saying during Khutbah. That is, in some Masjids where the Imam is delivering the Khutbah in Arabic and another person is translating. The likely consequence of this is that the person translating might not have the reward of Solatul Jumu'ah.

#It is wrong to wipe the face with your palms after supplicating to Allah or making du'a, but it is very recommended that one stretches forth both palms seperate from each other in a raised position while making our Du'a.

Arrived late, but will try to join the pieces, In shaa Allah.

In the name of Allah, The Entirely Merciful, The Especially Merciful.

#No one has knowledge of the unknown. No doubts whatsoever about this for a true believer. Therefore, the believer should stop seeking protection other than from Allah.

#We should know that evil and evil people truly exist.

#Therefore we should be steadfast in our DhikruLLah (Remembrance of Allah) to bring Allah's protection on us. Only Allah's protection is the sure guaranty.

#We should be regularly uttering words of Remembrance of Allah like 'SubahanaLLah, WalhamduliLLah, WalailahaillaLLah, Allahu akbar' till it becomes an integral part of our everyday living.

#This Remembrance of Allah will put the believer who has ABSOLUTE faith in Allah alone under Allah's assured protection.

#However, it will not benefit someone that also engages in little and big acts of Shirk willingly. Allah detests Shirk in its entirety.

#Conclusively, only Allah can keep us safe from the known and unknown. No seer or soothsayer or spiritualist can guaranty us safety.

We ask Allah for His aid.

***Q&A***

#A woman must always take permission from her husband to leave the home except if she needs to relieve herself and the facility is not available in her home and also in the case where the husband has given her an open(blanket) permission whenever she needs to visit certain places.

#As regards the fact that a righteous child that makes du'a for his dead parent(s) will have the reward given to them, the du'a or good deeds a righteous child does on behalf of evil parents will earn them no rewards; so also, the du'a and good deeds by a non-righteous child will fetch righteous parents no reward after their demise.

#If an individual starts a Masjid project (as Sodaqotul Jaariyah), but does not finish it before his death, and someone else completes it, the flowing reward for it will be due to both of them.

#If someone gives someone else money in charity and the recipient uses it for Sodaqotul Jaariyah, the reward for it will not be due to the one who gave him money.

#It is not permissible to 'help' our fellow Muslims in continuous assesment or exams on compassionate grounds (maybe he is ill).

#Whoever borrows money or something else with a sincere intention of repaying it when due, Allah will ease the repayment for him, while for someone who borrows without the intention of repaying it, Allah will make it difficult for him to repay and it will become a liability on him on the Day of Recompense.

#The charity done by a wife with her husband's wealth without his permission will receive half reward. However, the one she takes permission for (even though she knows he won't disprove of it) will be fully rewarded. Though, she doesn't have to spell out every little detail of such charity.

#It is not wrong for a wife to report a misunderstanding she has with her husband to someone he holds in high esteem, for the sake of resolving such misunderstanding.

#The wife of Ibn Mas'ud once had some quantity of gold to give out in charity and Ibn Mas'ud told her he and their child(ren) were most deserving of it, since they were in need of it too. His wife then went to ask the Prophet(PBUH) about this and he told her Ibn Mas'ud had said the truth (he was right).

#If a wife intends to give out Zakat, it is permissible for her to give it out to her husband and child(ren), if they are in need of it. This is because she is not mandated to cater for their material needs. So they are qualified beneficiaries of her Zakat or Sodaqoh.

#The one who gives one naira in charity might be more rewarded that someone who gives one hundred thousand naira in charity, if the one naira represents a greater percentage of his wealth than that of the other man.

In the name of Allah, The Entirely Merciful, The Especially Merciful...

#Review of last week's talk

#A servant is not the same as a slave, so people should stop committing fornication in the name of '...those your right hand possess'.

#It was related by Abu Hurairah(RA) that the Prophet(PBUH) admonishes us to be charitable. However, this does not necessarily mean seeking out beggars to give them alms. The Prophet(PBUH) discourages begging as a profession and his companions(May Allah be pleased with them) were not beggars.

#The scholars must always admonish the well to do in the society to help the less-privileged within our communities. The Prophet(PBUH) admonishes us in an Hadith that the charity we give out to the less-privileged brings Allah's blessings on our wealth.

#The religious leaders should also fear Allah and ensure they distribute charity people bring to them for distribution to those really in need of them.

#A man once told the Prophet(PBUH) that he had one Dinar, the Prophet(PBUH) admonished him to spend it on himself. He then said he had another Dinar and the Prophet(PBUH) told him to spend it on his child(ren). The man then said he had another dinar, he was told to spend it on his wife. He then said he had another dinar and the Prophet(PBUH) admonished him to spend it on his servants. He then said he had a fifth dinar and he was then asked to spend it based on his personal discretion.

#The above narration illustrates the order of our charity. Also, even though the first three categories (the man, his children, his wife) are obligatory for him to spend on, he will be rewarded for them by Allah, provided it is for Allah's sake.

#On a lighter note, Doctur don give us Delil say no be must to declare our total income to our wives and to operate 'joint account' with Madams. smiley

#We must never neglect charity, it is part of our deen.

#We should not forget that one of the things that will still bring us reward after we're gone is Sodaqotul Jaariyah (charity that the benefits flow 'forever') done by us.

#However, the reward for the charity done in memory of a dead Muslim (by people on his behalf) will only be received ONCE and will not flow on and on.

#It is important that we be enlightened about the deen, even as career persons. This might come in handy at our place of work, in a situation where one does sermons to co-workers and surbodinates after Solah when they go for Solah breaks. The benefits people derive from it can serve as knowledge we disseminated that will bring rewards to us when we're dead.

#A wife or servant that gives out charity with her husband or master's wealth will be rewarded for it, likewise her husband/master. However, she should be certain the husband/master will approve of it and is capable of it.

#However, we are not obliged to do charity with food/material that is barely sufficient for us to survive.

Sincere advice:

"...But perhaps you hate a thing and it is good for you; and perhaps you love a thing and it is bad for you. And Allah Knows, while you know not." Suratul Baqorah, Qur'an 2:216

Dear brothers, always remember that verse. When you do your utmost in seeking to marry a particular sister and it doesn't work out, kindly let go for good. Do not go to extreme lengths nor start a needless 'war' over that.

Surely, we only know what we know, there are much more we don't. For Allah's sake, desperation should not push us to 'senseless' or 'irrational' mode.

The sister has the right to turn down your proposal. Cut her a slack and look forward to the bright side. Surely not, your world has not come to an end.

What will be will surely be!

#Islam encourages contentment and whinnig about our living situation. We should continue to work hard and supplicate to Allah for our sustenance.

#The Prophet(PBUH) was reported to have said the best charity is that done when Allah has blessed us with wealth. The wisdom behind this is that the wealthy one finds it more difficult to give charity out of his wealth.

~Q&A~
#It is those on Hajj that are allowed to shave the whole hair on their head(Afari kodoro). So you wey dey danri, wey no dey Hajj, abeg try find money dey cut am low, not kodoro.

#If a pregnant woman dies and the child(foetus) in her is still alive, it is permissible to bring out the child in her (provided the medical experts give a guaranty that the child will survive).
However, if the child(foetus) is dead, it is mockery (Islam teaches us to preserve the dignity of our fellow Muslims) of the Muslim woman to open her up to bring out the child. She should be buried facing the Qiblah with such foetus in her.
As well, if the pregnant woman in that situation is a non-Muslim, should be buried within the boundary that seperates the Muslim cemetery from the non-Muslim cemetery, backing the Qiblah.

#We are discouraged from taunting our fellow Muslims with unnecessary inquiry into how much charity (or other acts worship) they engage in.

#Reminders of the excellent features of Al Jannah were also brought to the fore. It was reported that the companions asked the Prophet (PBUH) on how the people of Jannah will pass out waste from their bodies(due to intake of food and drink) and the Prophet(PBUH) responded that their belch will just be enough and this will have a scent sweet like that of Musk. They also asked him(PBUH) about people who might wish to have children and the Prophet(PBUH) told them such person will be given just as they wish for it.

#It is also reported that the foods and drinks of this world can only have similar names with those reserved for the people of Jannah, but they are not of the same quality.

#In lieu of the goodness of the description of Al-Jannah, we are encouraged not to delay our repentance from wrong-doing and disobedience of Allah.

#Islam teaches us that 'the hand above is better than the one below', meaning the giving charity is more gracious than receiving. However, this does not apply to persons Islam has mandated us to cater for their welfare, like our wife(ves), child(ren), parents, etc. People should not misunderstand this lesson. Sincerity is advised.

#Islam also mandates that we should cater for the group of persons mentioned above, before consideration for others.

#Islam strictly discourages begging as a profession or making it a habit. It encourages laziness and gradually draws the heart away from reliance on Allah. We should rely firmly on Allah for our sustenance. He is Ar-Rozaq (The Provider) and we His(SWT) slaves should take full advantage of this.

#It is wrong for us to believe that it is only through a fellow human that Allah can meet our needs. Allah As-Samad, He does not require the assistance of anyone to do what He wants to do. For example, Allah can will His slave to come across money(possibly a huge sum), which he/she is allowed to keep for his/her use if the owner of such money is not found after a year of searching for the owner.

BismiLLahi R Rohmoni Roheem

#Tonight's talk is centrally focused on Charity (Got here late, didn't get the headline)

#The charity (Zakah, Sodaqoh) we do here on earth will be serve as a source of shade on the day of recompense (according to the hadith been discussed)

#The charity is all-encompassing acts of charity (clearly laid down by Islam)

#However, Islam does not encourage begging as a profession. We should also not encourage this by constantly giving alms to people who practise begging as a profession (This clearly is not prohibiting giving alms to the needy. Discretion is advised).

#The reward for the sodaqoh (voluntary charity) we do will be used to supplement the reward for Zakah (obligatory charity) we do, especially if our Zakah do not measure up to what is required.

#In the same vein, the reward for the voluntary Solah, Sawm and Hajj(Umrah) we do will be used to supplement the reward for the obligatory ones we do on the Day of Recompense, especially if they do not measure up to what is required.

#We should also remember that Allah will clothe and feed the believer who clothes and feed the slaves of Allah with something better than what they gave in charity.

#We are also encouraged to give preference to a believer (Mumi'n) in giving charity than the non-believer. The wisdom here is that the believer will be more strengthened to worship Allah from the charity we give to him or her, while the non-believer will be more strenthened to disobey and go against Allah from the charity we give to him/her. However, this is not telling us to desist from giving charity to the disbelievers. Discretion is advised.
