Gboliwe: This story sha. Na wa! Maybe you the narrator didn't hear well or you didn't write well because the narrative na wa. I no want to buy this. It's almost impossible to believe. But you can confirm with a ny credible contact you have in LAUTECH, Ogbomoso. |
JEITO: Impunity! This seem to be the trending vocabulary in Nigeria these days.Sadly so. It has spread across almost all strata of our national life. However, a supposedly 'corporate organization' now promoting it to more devastating heights is just not fathomable. How will they turn to bite the hands that feed them? Who knows, we could be dealing with a dead victim tomorrow. This is why we must voice out to ensure imputiny does not become part of our national life, like several other social vices have. Nigerians arise and #banish the oppressors from existence #condemn GT Bank to extinction. Let's make an example of them. It could be anyone tomorrow. Stand up to be judged right by posterity. |
Cc: Ngakwe, Mynd_44, Mukina2, Seun. Our Ogas should please help do the needful. As soon there is a youtube link for the video of the unprecedented assault, it woyld be made available, God willing. |
Truly, injustice to one is injustice to all of us. This is because if left uncheck, might come in worse dimensions to haunt the rest of us. In lieu of this, I will like to relate the unfortunate incident that played out at GT Bank, Seminary Branch, Ogbomoso, as narrated by one of the victims to the Nigerian Intellectual Community. Indeed, there is video evidence and eyewitness accounts to support his story. The story goes thus: Mr. AbdJelil (victim) was at the aforementioned Bank branch at about 02:58pm yesterday, 16/07/2014 to make some transfers from one sub-account to the other of the GT Bank account of the Muslim Students' Society of Nigeria, LAUTECH Branch, Ogbomoso. The assignment was a critical one, requiring some level of urgency He met a crowd in front of the main entrance to the bank, who he later discovered had been there for a couple of minutes, requesting to be allowed into the banking hall to transact the various businesses they had come for. He joined the fray, as was expected. Shockingly however, the bank's security guards were barking at helpless customers to leave the premises of the bank. According to them, the bank was closing at 03:00pm. All vocal protest by the frustrated crowd to state that there was no prior notice to that effect and the fact that they had been there before 03:00pm was dismissed by the guards. Even the subtle appeal by the elderly ones in the crowd that they desperately needed to make withdrawals over the counter fell on deaf ears. Rather than offer comforting words and reasonable explanations, the security guards decided insulting remarks was most suitable to address customers, whose savings play a part in sustaining the Bank. One of them even made to physically assault some of the customers, until he was restricted by his superior. When it dawned on the bank officials inside the banking hall that the crowd wouldn't leave without getting at least getting the reason behind the unusual closing time, they went for a suprisingly absurd option- Mobile Policemen from the divisional police command were called in to come and foil 'an attempted robbery'. As is characteristic of the often times crude Nigerian Police Force, the 'MOPOLS' immediately swung into 'action'. They shot sporadically into the air and diffused tear-gas into the crowd. They then proceeded to encircle the three major victims of the sad episode, barking out orders to them to 'surrender and not move'. One of the unfortunate victims, the General Secretary of the MSSN LAUTECH had only coincidentally at the time of arrival of the MOPOLS to consult with this narrator to on approaching the chief security officer at the bank to ask one of the senior officials of the bank to calmly come and explain reason(s) for the one hour early closing time to the confused and stressed up bank customers. Quite unfortunately, the action deprived MOPOLs will not ask question nor let common sense guide them to know that the so-called 'armed robbers' were not harmed, except with their vocal resistance and quest for their rights as customers to be respected. The supposedly protectors of the rights of the common man rather subjected their helpless victims to humiliating and severe torture in public glare. Their pants were yanked off and they were commanded to roll their bodies back and forth on the ground, coupled with kicks from the MOPOLs' boots and other forms of physical assault. They were severely beaten until some minutes past 05:00pm, when they were eventually taken to the police command for 'further interrogation'. It took a lot of negotiations from the the Dean of Students' Affairs, LAUTECH, representatives from the LAUTECH SUG (led by their president and many of the excos) and MSSN LAUTECH, coupled with the fact that fellow students had held staff of the Bank's branch on LAUTECH premises hostage, ensuring none of them could leave the bank premises before the three hapless victims were released from police custody few minutes before 07:00pm. Incidentally, the three victims were observing the Ramadhan fast in the middle of this very traumatic experience. It was at the Police command that it was learnt that the bank was only trying 'to cut costs on diesel used for its operations', hence the unannounced 03:00pm closing time. One then wonders why the bank officials couldn't simply respect their customers by coming out to amicably explain their position to them. It is sad to note that the bank carried on with normal business today, without recourse to their absurd action yesterday, fuelling the belief that the actions are part of GT Bank's operational policy. This is why we are calling on all reasonable Nigerians to arise and say #no to oppression, no to gt bank. Remember that wise saying: 'an injustice somewhere is a threat to justice anywhere'. You could be the victim tomorrow. Please join this justice campaign to preserve our dignity from being abused. God help us! Signed Concerned LAUTECH Students. |

Was it not just 'mere stealing' or was it a case of corruption? The major difference between Tinubu's APC and Jonathan's PDP is that the former engages in corrupt acts in an almost latent 'intellectual' manner, while the latter does same in a brazen "I don't give a damn manner". Anyway, just chilling till the youths of this country, who in essence hold the ace, finally declare 'enough is enough'! ...wake me up then... |
Nice try |
The fakeness of his publicity stunts is nauseating. |
immortalvoices: Oga don't incite religious e-fight here abeg, majority of the gruesome murder and gory incident were perpetuated under the name of religion and now what about boko haram who claim to be guided by ALLAH...Do you accept that Ogboni Pastor, whose story came up some days ago is truly a Christian, just because he claims he is? Do you accept those that worship in that 'naked worship church' are true christians? Let's see how naive or otheriwse you are. |
Very logical thinking and very objective questions raised. I'm with you on this, till I see a reasonable opposition to your points. |
The den had 'existed for long', yet it is the party-crossing of the Governor and his people to APC (that is not even up to six months old) that triggered the whole insecurity mess. What a confused submission. If they go back to the PDP tomorrow, what become of the allegations? @OP, just contunu o! |
If a twitter war had been mounted against him, he wouldn't be spewing this rubbish. Wrong deeds should not be tolerated at all, especially wickedness on your fellow man. #matuiditheheartlesscheat |

litetias: You're accusing the US of being anti-Islam but there's no proof of them subverting Islam, instead I see Islamic extremists being anti-US and the US fighting back. So please educate me on the steps that the US have taken that shows that they are out to destroy Islam, like you said. Thanks.Wonderful jargons. They just decided to start attacking the USA because it is the only western nation existing, right? You need to revisit the timeline of these events and then tell us what the US is still doing in Iraq several years after exterminating the so-called reason for their invasion, Saddam Hussein. |
Akwaaba Nairaland! A soothing relief! Food for thought for the die-hard tribalists and political jobbers, did you die without your daily dose of bashing, hating and e-fighting? |
Ok |
Congratulations. Best wishes to you both in your future endeavours as husband and wife. ![]() |
This sounded as crazy as it could to me. In fact, it is simply pathetic. Read for yourself what our crazy elite do just for the fun of it: Pius Adesanmi via Facebook: "Health tip. Whatever you do, never get into a discussion of the sociology of the Nigerian moneyed class with a seasoned pilot who has put in more than 30 years of flying the private and/or chartered jets of old and new money. You will hear things that ain't good for your health. Zaria being the seat of the Nigerian College of Aviation Techhnology, and your brother inlaw being a top aviation engineer in the college, you are bound to encounter top members of the country's aviation family in the city's social circuits. The pilot listens to my tales of the sociology of the Nigerian moneyed class with the self-assured smile of someone who's encountered scenarios a hundred times worse than the wildest experiences I could recount. "Prof", he says, "you ain't seen nothing. One day I was rudely woken up early in the morning in Lagos to fly an empty chartered jet to Kano. My co-pilot and I reached Kano only to be told that we were conveying a sick passenger to Benin. Our passenger? The pet dog of a family. Apparently, the only vet the family trusted was in Benin. So we flew the VIP dog to Benin for its medical emergency, waited for it to be treated, flew it back to Kano, and returned to Lagos with an empty jet. Prof, do you want more stories of how less than 200 families burn Nigeria's money daily? When people say that Nigeria's money is in the hands of less than 10,000 people, they lie. It is actually in the hands of less than 200 people and I've put in decades flying them. The habits of the wealthy are all in a day's job for me." On reflection, I decided that his offer of more real life stories from his line of work would not be good for my blood pressure. What would be good for my blood pressure would be the availability of 200 Rawlingses for the 200 folks who have stolen enough to order chartered jets to fly pet dogs to the vet..." Nctrice: somebody is educated here thank God! God bless your parents or who ever sent you to school...Does it change the fact that he has 10 jets and another one on its way? Pathetic group of... Slowpokes! |

I decided to share this story not because i want to be praised as a 'good story-teller' or because I want you to tell me how beautiful the story is. I shared the story because I know of an 'Akanni' that is hopeful of a God-sent 'Atinuke' to help alleviate her current travails. As you celebrate and rejoice over your 'successful passage' into the year 2014, there is a widow with her four children out there on the pavement of a good samaritan's house in Egan, Igando area of Lagos state. Wonder what she is doing there with her little children? Just this morning, the quit notice they were served in an apartment they were squatting in expired. Let me take it from the beginning... Until several weeks back, Mrs. Mujidat lived with her husband and Children in their home in Egan. They lived fairly comfortably. Their situation changed when fire gutted their rented apartment. In a bid to rescue the situation, the father of the house sustained burn injuries and eventually died shortly after. This is where the journey of this woman into widowhood and the difficulties attached started. With God's Mercy and petty help from those who cared and their resident community, they have managed to survive until now. But, as even I have experienced firsthand, when trouble befalls one, it is then you know you are alone in this world. Gradually, everyone that you previously looked up to will go back to 'minding their own business'. Unfortunately, she is an orphan and has no sibling(s) who could have helped. Eventually, it's a dead end for her and her little ones presently. I came across this woman when I went for the early morning prayers about three weeks ago on a visit to a relative living in that area. The small community in that Mosque had taking up her case and eventually only came up with a meagre sum to help keep the family afloat, with a promise to still keep supporting with whatever they can. I had taken interest in her situation because I knew begging from place to place will only provide temporary solutions. In fact, she had stated she was hoping to start petty-trading if she could raise the money for it. Unfortunately, it has not been easy getting the required sum, as feeding is not even guaranteed for them. I have spoken to people and written to others on her behalf. I have referred her to one or two charity bodies I know and she has written to some of them as well of her own accord. Sadly, there hasn't been feedback from some, while others say they have their hands full and some even offered to help, but can't guarantee how soon they can process such aid. Bottomline is the poor widow is still out there on the someone's corridor, hoping against hopelessness for a miracle to happen. I could have just passed, and simply wished her well, as I have some troubles of my own that has rendered me incapacitated to help them materially, but the thought of a widow and her four little children sleeping in an uncompleted building in a Lagos environment someone promised to help them find is too heart-breaking for me to ignore. I hereby have brought her case before fellow Nigerians, just maybe someone or some people like Atinuke are out there to come to their aid or suggest a plausible way forward. I have heard some respond to this issue that 'May God help her and fashion a way out'. I can't but share their optimism, but I also strongly hold unto this philosophy that the reason why you have that extra #50 on you is because God will not come down Himself to feed that poor homeless orphan child roaming about your neighbourhood. I really hope someone shares this philosophy too... SAVE SOME SOULS... an SSS message! ---I appeal that this be put on frontpage, in the hope that it will reach those willing to give God glory, through helping this homeless family for seeing this day. Thank you and God bless! |
'Be Merciful to those on Earth, so that the One above the Heavens will be Merciful unto you'. ![]() Once upon a time... ![]() *Let me share a story that might motivate us to act* ![]() In a distant land where people lived in peace and harmony, surrounded by lovely natural sights and blessed with a moderate climate, there lived our main character number one. Let us take her name to be Atinuke. ![]() Atinuke was the popular 'iya alakara', the one who fried bean cakes for sale in the little village. She was very friendly and had a large heart. Many indeed liked her, which earn her a sizeable number of regular customers. ![]() Our main Character two is a mentally challenged young man in his early twenties, who could also pass for a regular customer of Atinuke's, except he never had money to buy food like the others. I suggest we call him Akanni. ![]() However, Atinuke voluntarily made it a point of duty to give him some balls of 'Akara' and a wrap of 'eko'(hard pap) for free whenever he came calling, whistling his usual tune on the virtue of doing good. ![]() The take and collect relationship between Atinuke and Akanni was one many of the villagers were well familiar with. It was not thereby surprising that light rumors went round the village that there was probably something fettish in their union. ![]() On this particular day, sales was just going as normal under the largest tree in the village centre, which provided cover for Atinuke's business, but something was obviously amiss. Hmmmn! ![]() It was gradually nearing that time when Atinuke was going to clear up and call it a day, yet Akanni had not come for his 'regular'. Atinuke was understandably concerned. What could be wrong? Had he taking ill of fallen into some kind of danger? She had no idea if he even had a proper home, where he lived. Notwithstanding, she had kept aside his 'package' in the hope that he eventually would still turn up. It was now time to set on the journey home; she just had to put away the last piece of utensil and proceed to rejoin her family. Then... She heard faint whistling. Another came again almost immediately, though a bit louder. Then followed what seemed to be a whisper. Atinuke looked up and around, trying to locate the source of the sound. When the voice called again, almost in a whisper, she saw the figure of the 'whisperer' leaning on another tree few metres away. The moon provided enough light for her to see his face. It was Akanni who beckoned to her to 'come' again, with a hand gesture to illustrate what he wanted. Atinuke was taken aback. Akanni had a terrified look on his face and it was obvious to Atinuke that he wouldn't move from his position, except she went to answer his call. She had taken a few steps to meet him when she remembered the food she had kept for him. She went back for it and was just approaching the tree Akanni leaned on when the loud thud was heard. It was a very loud noise, that one could be sure the villagers would be trooping out of their homes in a short while... ...In twos and threes, it wasn't long before a crowd of villagers had formed around the spot where the large tree had been mysteriously uprooted from the ground and had fallen to crumble whatever was in its part. Soon after, the question rang in the air, 'Where is Atinuke?'... There was a general sigh of relief after Atinuke narrated to the crowd how she had miraculously escaped being crushed by the tree. Some balls of 'Akara' and 'Eko' were her saving grace. Her first daughter's wedding was only some weeks away and the death of the Matriach of the home at that time would only have been more than tragic. ![]() In the midst of all the noise generated as a result of the small talks going on among the yet to be dispersed crowd of eyewitnesses, a respected village elder had remarked in a loud voice that caught the attention of all gathered there: "Ojo ore la n mo, aa o m'ojo esan". This literally means "One can hardly tell of the Day he will be rewarded for the good done". Hmmmnn! As the Holy Book succintly puts it "Is there any reward for good other than good?" (Suratul Rahman, Qur'an 55:60). ---Story credit: 24/12/2013 edition of 'Omoluabi' program, a 5 minute yoruba program aired daily on Unique FM 103.1MHz, Ilesa, Osun State, that focuses on preaching good morals to its listeners... Hmmm! Is this gonna end in 90 minutes or go into extra-time?! What a tense match. If you ask me, I want the two sides to win. ![]() |
BTW @OP, did you draw your inspiration from Vivly's signature? #Just curious! From my crude knowledge of Psychology, I'm guessing some 'big sis' or 'best friend' told you to 'do it'. Right. I can read it in one or two 'sympathizers' here. I really wish the union of both of you well, believe me. #Another marriage made in NL, I hope! |
Sister Mukina, I hope you are in listening mode, I want to pass a message across. Before we say Deejay_Harry1 HOOKS Maureen, will you please move this to the Front Page. If this intriguing/scintillating thread doesn't move the desired traffic, I wonder what will. ***No worry, we go knock out West Ham*** I hope not to miss this upcoming wedding for anything at all. In the words of DSTV, "everything else can wait". Wow! Wow! Wow! #Amazing! |
Well said, even though we know some people willl still disagree if the Pope himself came out to say Islam is against terrorism. May God cure such people of their Islamophobia though. |
