rudedough: You have freedom of speech.Good point again. I wonder why people are finding this fact hard to comprehend and accept. |
theoctopus: This is your answer right there, iddiota!Thomas and Adams do not share the same DNA nor are they expected to reason alike. What's your point exactly and how does this normal everyday event, we see every now and then address the point raised? |
manny4life: The Constitution was drafted and signed by who? How do you define a govt? A govt is -, by the - and for the - (now fill in the blanks). The constitution is not same as public opinion, please get your facts right sir, no offence. |
manny4life: That is why I asked na,We are talking Nigeria not US sir and I wonder what the ruling of a Judge on a case has to do with the subject of discourse. |
theoctopus: You are a potential terrorist. No human feeling. You think laws are more important than humans. If you finish cleansing the land, is it you and your generation that will live there alone. What a sad hypocrite and a holier than thou iddiota! You have no sense at all!You have so much unjustly insulted me to the point of even accusing me more than once of been a terrorist without any proof, just because I differ with you on this discourse. How appaling! If you can be this intolerant and belligerent as a follower, your tenure as a leader is only better imagined than having it as a nightmare. I take no offence at your non-objectivity and irrationality though, it's called class. |
jice: True. the woman should go and die according to you. Do you know how many people took their means of livelihoods this year. He should add death to it.Try listen to what Thabo Mbeki said concerning indiscipline in Nigeria. Thanks. |
manny4life: You mean the type of emotions where a judge hands down death sentence to someone who steals recharge cards and allows someone who stole N100milliom Naira walk free... Are we talking about that sense of judgement?Ask a qualified advocate to school you on the interpretation of the law on punishments for armed robbery and non-violent theft. Thanks. |
Please understand that almost everyone who watched the video is condemning the Governor's outburst....."YOU ARE A WIDOW, GO AND DIE!!"
There is a logical interpretation of that than the emotionally biased meaning given to it. The extent to which he was frustrated and infuriated by the woman's indirect justification of her act. |
Zither: Your economic analysis is obviously out of place and irrelevant to the central topic here...what has economic analysis got to do with the callous disposition of a Governnor towards the governed as reflected in his words that she should go an die?A leader that wants to succeed will never let feeble emotions becloud his sense of judgement. Ask our Judges, especially in the magistrate courts. |
rudedough: Until you give up those emotions, it'll be hard for you to push forward in life. I'm a Medical Doctor and I can assure you that I've seen more emotions from patients in ICU but that doesn't mean that the surgery wouldn't be performed.Exactly the point... that is just the summary. It's not like one doesn't feel for the woman, but what needs be done has to be done, because of posterity. No hating on her at all, please let's just be objective! |
We are still missing the point. The woman was not admitting or even apologizing for being wrong... She was only manifesting the mentality of "it is normal". Woman: I am a widow, my action is justified... you should look the other way! Governor: Don't give me that crap woman! I have heard it before... You are wrong, admit it! Woman: You know we are in Nigeria nah, just pretend you didn't notice. Governor: Don't tell me nonsense... Infact, get off my sight! N.B.: Does that remind you of a certain MOG slapping the poor girl for provoking him? If I remember well, Man didn't even give a damn and people went to sleep...Innit? |
What was her crime?
Disregard of the rule of law, which she clearly wasn't ignorant of. |
manny4life: Fair hearing? I don't see him extending same hand of fair-hearing to a woman who pleaded with you. God forbid me have his ugly battered, wicked head for supper, but YES, I will want him to resign immediately. What section of the constitution backs the claim for his removal? Maybe you have forgotten that he swore on his inauguration to uphold the laws binding the state and put the interest of the general populace first, without fear or favour? |
manny4life: So we're to wait "if he stands by his comment"? This is why Nigerians will be abused continuously... Like seriously, smhWhat happened to fair-hearing? If he apologizes, we should still insist on his having his head for supper? I guess you forget he has committed no wrong in the eyes of the law? Can we say that of the woman? |

nkwaltd:I will feel depressed if my mother is caught on camera going against the law, not to talk of this public embarrassment, but I trust her not to do such and I am proud of her being the law-abiding citizen she is. Does that answer the question? |
Billyonaire: You have written a lot, but you come off as someone who doesnt understand what it means for a Governor to tell the governed, "Go and Die". In saner climes, Oshiomole would have been impeached by now. The law is meant for the people and not the other way round. In jurisprudence, Justice is tempered with mercy.I absolutely agree that he was being too harsh and deserves a fair share of the criticisms. But before condemning him to impeachment or something like it, he should be given the chance to make a statement on the matter. If he arrogantly stands by his earlier use of words, then we 'crucify him'; if otherwise, we spare him the benefit of having acted before reasoning. |
nkwaltd: You've made your pointA classic example of hypocrisy in a rude, crude and mean form. To know you have also condemned the governor is laughable. What crime has his mother committed that warranted this thoughtless, ignorant, foolish and heartless comment from you? Which is worse- insulting a guilty woman or insulting an innocent woman who is most likely oblivious of the issue at hand. You are pathetic and disgusting! |
adino: The woman is not a hawker, she was waiting for a bus to take her home. Listen to her very well on the video. And he was supposed to buy the fantastic excuse, without any means of verifying her claim? Like seriously? Huh! |
I know many will disagree with my stand, but I still make bold to state my view to the matter. While the Governor be scolded for letting his emotions get the better of him, it is really provoking that someone comes up with the cheap excuse of 'being a poor widow' to do what is wrong. It is obvious the woman was fully aware of the wrong she was engaged in, hence the struggle to bail herself out with an emotional excuse of being a struggling widow. The woman was not willing to accept responsibility for her actions, and that might have really gotten on the nerves of the Governor (he is human too). From comments read, some people have attested to the man's humility and all that, so it is only fair to give him the excuse that he was really provoked. Of course, it is obvious he meant the statement figuratively (even though it seems he went too far than expected of him). I also wish to state here that we should put a hold on our emotions and judge this matter rationally. It is normal that anyone guilty of a crime would seek to exonerate himself/herself, but does that justify the crime? There are many poor widows all over (assuming she is truly a widow) that do not stay on the wrong side of the law and give room to this kind of embarrassing scenario, so what is the fuss about? Every offender could claim to be a widow, widower, orphan, e.t.c., should they all then be pitied and the society allowed to become chaotic? Fact is the Governor was harsh, but the woman gave room for that. She was simply trying to blackmail the Governor into setting a bad precedence and the man had to take a firm and resolute decision, having in mind that the people he employed to enforce the law were watching to see whether he will compromise or not. She should just have admitted her fault and plead for mercy, rather than play the emotional card. The truth is everyone in that state will now be on their toes and be more inclined to obey the law strictly, to avoid been a 'scape-goat'. We know how Nigerians have to be 'forced' to do what's right. It is sad that indiscipline has become a way of life for us here and so many supposedly enlightened ones here have decided to approach this matter with emotional sentiments, rather than an objective outlook. What is wrong is wrong, widow or no widow! N.B.: Whoever thinks I am here to defend my 'principal' is on his or her own. I am not responsible for your wrong perception of me. Thank you! |
Ngige was sighted yesterday at his Olde English hotel in GRA Awka crying as he was on the phone complaining bitterly to Tinibu and Buhari on how he suffered a major defeat of his life..
It is pathetic and inhuman of you to use someone's grieving moment to make fun of him.Very heartless of you and those that enjoy this shame of a joke. |
