Primary school pupil have invaded Nairaland.

Do you know that even the president can be impeached for spending money that has not been appropriated by the national assembly?
What's this one saying? Is SURE-P budget independent of the FG's budget proposal to the NA? How come SURE-P funds will be singled out as a separate entity. And the funds have not got the necessary assent when the 2013 fiscal year is just 3 months to the end?

gokelicious: dude, we are more than 100million in Nigeria, it is possible for you not to have met any of the beneficiaries (i haven't either), it doesn't means ghost beneficiaries are involved, i know Mr kolade is credible even the senate can't fault that.
Come of it bro., I know Christopher Kolade indeed has a track record of credibility. But it is impossible for me not to have met at least one beneficiary among the thousands. Is it not just the youths? I know what I am talking about.

Innalillaahi wa inna ilayhi rajiun. Quite unfortunate. As the noblest of mankind predicted:

The Prophet SAAWS said, "Surely, you will follow the ways of those nations who were before you, in everything as one arrow resembles another, (i.e. just like them), so much so that even if they entered a hole of a sand-lizard, you would enter it."

They said, "O Allaah’s Messenger! Do you mean to say that we will follow the Jews and the Christians?"

He SAAWS replied, "Whom else?" (By meaning the Jew and Christians)
I would really love to use the harshest words, based on how annoying this is to me. But I would kindly put forward this test forward too all those involved in this show of shame and will then commend them if they pass it. If they can convincingly bring sufficient evidence from the Qur'an and/or the Sunnah and/or the actions of the first three generations of Muslims from the time of the prophet(PBUH). If they can't do this, then they should remember this:

Hadith - Bukhari, Volume 3, Book 49, Number 861. Narrated Aisha, r.a.

Allah's Apostle SAAWS said, "If somebody innovates something which is not in harmony with the principles of our religion, that thing is rejected."
“… beware of newly-invented matters, for every newly-invented matter is an innovation. And every innovation is misguidance. And all misguidance is in the Fire …”

Nairaland General › Take A Breath: An Advice For Stella Damascus by pmc01(op): 1:45am On Sep 14, 2013
TAKE A BREATH: AN ADVICE FOR STELLA DAMASCUS

Let me begin by saying the “child” marriage debate can only make people famous, it can only be used to stay famous, it can only revive careers of actresses who are smart enough to hurriedly make a youtube video when the heat is on, but it will continue to happen and not even the removal of the controversial supportive clauses or the inclusion of a new prohibiting one will stop it. This is the fact; plain simple, in one paragraph.

I have watched the drama playing out and how Stella Damasus has tried so hard to be the lead actor. From a youtube video with costumes and the rants of a little girl to an Aljazeera performance where she frowns while other guests speak, I have observed the Stella lady and I think she needs the following advice:

Firstly, arrogance, insults and name calling does not make you right. You are right when you are right you are wrong when you are wrong. For example you referred to the Islamic position on marriage age as “deafening, old and archaic”. Earlier in an article of yours you praised the Islamic mood of worship and the simplicity of it as well as narrated a story of how a wealthy Muslim came down from his car to join a gate man in his estate in prayer in your presence….well, the provision of Islam which made this possible is also old and we thank God it is not archaic in the sense of being abandoned for being old. And the same way you hate our provision for marriage at any age, the pagan Arabs hated the prayers you so praised.

Still on mistaking arrogance and bad behaviour for correctness, I also heard you imply that Muslims “poach” and Christians don’t. According to your claim, the Nigerian law recognizes Islam but also recognizes Christianity but Christians don’t “poach” by asking that the position of the Christian religion be part of Nigerian law. Again you are not right because you said it with much emphasis and a frowned face. This is Nigeria in which it’s Government has a public Holiday two times a week because Christians, with all due respect, could not agree on which day is Sabbath; Saturday or Sunday. This is Nigeria in which the whole period around Christmas is public holiday and you don’t “poach”? Of course you don’t, but we do just because we are saying don’t forbid US from marrying OURSELVES when WE want to and because we say the fact that you compromise your rights to follow your Bible to the Nigerian constitution does not mean we must do the same, more so when the constitution does not require that of us. We poach, we are poachers, don’t mind us!

Secondly, I advise that you, Stella, know your facts especially if you intend saying them on international television. The Child Right Act is the result of a Convention which can only be applied if it goes in line with the Constitution, so if the constitution suggested that a woman of 17 can get married and you say the Child Right Act prohibits such, then you are saying the Child Right Act is unconstitutional and should be thrown away. This is a classic case of not knowing what you are talking about and hence speaking against what you intend to speak for. Now you know why Abraham Lincoln said "Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak out and remove all doubt"

Another blunder you committed because you thought exclamations can cover for points is that you claimed to have discovered hospitals where women with VVF die off. Stella, Stella, VVF is not even lethal, it does not kill. This is as ridiculous as saying you have discovered hospitals where people with Eczema are left to die. Studies, which you will not read because you are too busy taking pictures and twitting, have shown that of 100,000 births 0.4% have the challenge of VVF which is mainly a result of prolong child labour and rape. Let me show you what Dr. John Spurlock, MD Medical Director and Founder of the Continence Management Institute of the Lehigh Valley and 9 other specialists wrote about the cause of VVF and I sure this will be the first time you are reading of a disease you always speak about:

“Risk factors that predispose to VVFs include prior pelvic or vaginal surgery, previous PID, ischemia, diabetes, arteriosclerosis, carcinoma, endometriosis, anatomic distortion by uterine myomas, and infection, particularly postoperative cuff abscess”

You see my dear, one does not have to be super intelligent to speak if only he will be intelligent enough to know he has to speak only of what he knows.

My third and final advice for Stella Damasus is that it is important to follow the argument of the other side if you must engage in a debate. No one standing with Yerima is saying Nigeria is an Islamic state, no one is saying there should be sexual exploitation of children rather that which has been said is that Nigeria being a multi religious state as you claim has said it will not disturb your practice of your religion; marriage is part of religion as far as Muslims and Islam is concerned; as a matter of fact the Prophet of Islam says it is HALF of religion for the Muslims, Nigeria has said it won’t disturb, let it not disturb. It has also been said that in Islam and for Muslims when you marry is not necessarily when you have sex so marriage is anytime, sex is during maturity so where is the exploitation? If you are concerned about how we ensure this then take a breathe and ask us we will answer you.

We do hope to see women like Stella who will get all angry and vocal over the fact that women are in the market places in Nigeria selling pepper under the scourging sun with one baby on her back and two others running around at the risk of being run down by a car. We do hope to see women who will address the problem of prostitution which leaves a young girl sleeping with 10 men a night, 60-70 a week, 280 men every month and 3,360 men a year at the risk of STDs, losing her womb, permanent frigidity, HIV, and rape….but then a non-fatal disease which only occurs in less than 0.4% of child delivery and is curable is more of an issue. What an Olympic sport in hypocrisy

And I also hope the promoters know their integrity is at stake. Avoid temptations and the 'banana peels'... A word they say, is enough.

Nairaland General › Suspected Ritualists Arrested By Niger Police Command by pmc01(op): 12:42am On Sep 13, 2013
WHEN three young farmers of Gwari extraction in Niger state conspired to source for human head in their neighbourhood for money-making rituals purposes, hardly did it occur to them that the long arm of the law might soon catch up with them.

The three suspects, whose names were given as Saleh Ibrahim (35), Usman Lashi Sarki (30) and Dantala Doma, a.k.a. Operator, (25) years had conspired with other people which included a Fulani man simply identified as Gajere, now at large, who had allegedly given them a dried human skull to go and grind.

It was further learnt that another unidentified PHCN employee who is also on the run had promised to get the three suspects mercury to accomplish their aim.

Nemesis however caught up with them on Monday August 26, few hours after Ibrahim lured a 10-year-old boy, Ishaya Segi, from his father’s farm at Amale village in Shiroro Local Government of the state, put him on his motorcycle and abducted him to Lashi village, also within the council area where his two other accomplices were waiting for him.

Saleh was said to have urged the boy to accompany him to his friend’s place in the neighbourhood, after which he would bring him back to the same spot where he had picked him. The victim was said to have followed Saleh, unknown to him that he would never return alive.

A police source at the homicide section of the Criminal Investigation Department, Minna informed Crime Reports that no sooner was the victim brought to Lashi village than the third suspect, Doma, brought out a very sharp cutlass and cut off the head. The head was removed from his body by Sarki who is said to be a son to the late village head of Lashi.

The source added that during interrogation, Sarki confessed that he was contracted to bring the 10-year-old boy’s head by Gajere for money-making ritual.

It was further learnt that during police investigation, the boy’s head was traced to Saleh’s residence of Saleh while he later took the police to two other accomplices. The police were taken near river Erena in Shiroro Local Government Area of the state where the headless body of the boy was buried in a shallow grave.

According to Saleh, he initially resisted when Sarki informed him that one Gajere contacted him to bring a head of the little boy, but after convincing him, he decided to go out in search of a boy.

Efforts towards apprehending Gajere who contacted the three suspects for the job had not yielded any result as at the time of filing this report.

Confirming the incident, the state’s Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Richard Adamu Oguche, an Assistant Superintendent of Police, said investigation into the matter had since commenced, after which the three suspects would be arraigned in court of competent jurisdiction for prosecution on charges of conspiracy and culpable homicide.

He revealed that the command directed all police outposts within Kaffin-Koro Division and the DPO in Kaffin-Koro to reach out to the community leaders in the area to know if there was a reported case of missing child, an effort which yielded result on Friday 30 August 2013, when an Amale village-based farmer, Pa Segi Gayaga appeared at the state’s police headquarters to identify the 10-year-old victim as his son.

Are you aware of the security implication? Incase you're so daft and blinded (not saying you are, just in case you are) in being a GEJ apologist, the routes are carefully chosen and planned in advance.
What happens if the diversion was to lead them into a trap?

Lastly, eventho I want to call your comment an idiotic spin, last time I checked, Governors still enjoy immunity from ANY legal proceeding. That makes your comment as inconsequentially dumb as GEJ you desperately advocate for.

Nairaland General › The High-earning Butlers Of Dubai by pmc01(op): 6:42pm On Sep 12, 2013
In Britain, butlers may seem like a relic of another era, but in some other countries, particularly emerging economies, they are in huge demand - and their employers can often afford to pay handsomely for the privilege.

If PG Wodehouse's unflappable valet Jeeves had been called upon to work in the Arabian peninsula, you can be sure he would have been perfectly at home - Mayfair, Abu Dhabi… it's all the same if you're a professional with a job to do, a rigid dress code to uphold, and a gentleman to protect from overbearing aunts.

But increasingly British-trained household staff, particularly butlers, are being hired to work not in London but for super-rich clients abroad - and in Dubai, right now, they are all the rage.

They may live downstairs rather than upstairs, but some are on stratospheric salaries.

I went in at entry level at £35,000 plus all expenses paid - I now earn £70,000”

Dillon
Sara Vestin Rahmani, director and founder of London's Bespoke Bureau British Butler and Housekeeper Academy, placed one newly-trained butler in the United Arab Emirates this year on an annual salary of 582,000 Emirati Dirhams - the equivalent of £100,000 or $158,000.

Dillon, 37, who swapped the military to train to be a butler three years ago, hasn't looked back since he took up the residence on the exclusive artificial archipelago Palm Jumeirah to work for an Emirati family business in 2011.

"I went in at entry level at £35,000 ($55,000) plus all expenses paid. I now earn £70,000 but I work very hard," he says.

"I travel bi-weekly and I am expected to be on call 24/7, caring for my principal's personal things like clothes, travel bookings, reservations and shopping. I also have to make sure he's always looking good and that he stays hydrated in the heat."

The perks don't stop at a tax-free salary in the sunshine. Dillon gets August and September off to see his family in the UK, private jet travel as standard, a luxury apartment - and bonuses if he's lucky, which, he admits, he usually is.

But then again, he has to deal with off-the-wall requests that you don't come across in a standard nine-to-five office job.

searay: Oga Voice of Reasoning, listen to yourself. How many PDPs do you want to see in existence? There can't be two PDPs, so if anybody is not comfortable with the policy or the leadership of the party, one can pack out and form his own party. Afterall new parties are flooding the party every day.
You will do well to point out where I rationalized the action of the break-away PDP faction. Thanks in anticipation.

BTW, The question is does the sealing up follow court order? Why not let the court decide if the other faction has a point or not. Is the President via his faction of the PDP indirectly passing a vote of no confidence in the judiciary? I beg to say this is indeed a bad precedence, not minding if the APC or any other group does such to or not. I fear that will be the next line of argument.
Politics › Re: APC Condemns Sealing Of New PDP Office. by pmc01(m): 6:04pm On Sep 08, 2013
The arguments of many respondents here, especially those saying "what concerns APC" shows just how much the mass of Nigerian youths suffer intellectual deficiency. Imagine if this were to be a formal debate, many would fail woefully, because they don't even seem to understand the issue been raised.

The statement issued by the APC as stated above was primarily referring to the apparent disregard for the rule as it concerns sealing of the said secretariat. Is that too complex to understand from the article? Why not let your arguments against the article revolve around that, rather then throwing unwarranted jibes here and there?

How will our country compete with other nations in intellectual discourse and matters of common interest when our youths can't even present logical arguments and counter-arguments?

Can't the agitation for a 'revolution' start from this seeming short-coming? I am sincerely disappointed and will even be more saddened if anyone leaves the issue I have raised and start attacking my person instead.
