Glimpsetv: A major fire outbreak has been reported at the Great Nigeria Insurance House, a 22-storey commercial building located on Martins Street within the Balogun Market area of Lagos Island. The incident occurred today, December 24, 2025.
The high-rise building, which is primarily used as a warehouse for clothing materials, reportedly caught fire at about 5:00 p.m. Preliminary investigations by the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) indicate that the fire started in an office on the fourth floor.
The blaze escalated rapidly, spreading from the fourth floor to the sixth floor and eventually affecting other parts of the structure.
Emergency response teams, including LASEMA’s Shark Response Team and the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, are currently on the scene battling the inferno and working to bring the situation under control. As of 8:30 p.m., the number of casualties remains unconfirmed, as firefighting and rescue operations are still ongoing. Balogun Market, one of Lagos Island’s busiest commercial hubs, has witnessed similar incidents in the past. This fire comes months after another outbreak in September 2025 that affected a high-rise office building within the same Balogun Market vicinity.
You can never hear southern leaders saying the govt should use dialogue to bring solutions to the kidnapping problem down south, we r even appealing for more actions on these criminal elements causing havoc and driving away investors... Imagine the Northern leaders warning the military not to use force on terrorists and bandits instead should dialogue with them...
seunmsg: The worst judgment in recent memory has to be the judgement that made Duoye Diri of PDP the governor of Bayelsa state. It was a reckless judgement with no basis in law and it was delivered against APC. The Supreme Court was so ashamed they have to announce they’ve departed from the judgement and it can’t be cited as a precedent.
So, quit all the cries about Imo and let’s hear word. Even the judgement that gifted Zamfara to PDP was worse than the Imo judgement and the Supreme Court had also stopped court from interfering in internal affairs of a political party.
Did also realize at that at the end of the Supreme court abracadabra and manipulation, the entire votes cast, collated was different from the total votes allocated and distributed by the illiterate supreme court justices...

You lie, imo state judgement stand as the worst in Nigerian history... It will torment and hunt those behind it... Bayelsa was simple, the anomalies in the names of the deputy governor, zamfara was straight forward, apc warring parties took themselves to court thereby invalidating the entire Primaries that brought in thhe respective party candidates.

1. Is it true that our refinery cannot meet daily demand in Nigeria?
2. If that is the case, why do you want to monopolize the market?
3. If your refinery cannot meet daily demand, is it not fair for import licenses to be granted to those who can support your own output?
4. You hold press conferences every month as if you are briefing Nigerians on the state of your refinery. In your latest press conference, you published the names of NMDPRA's children and the schools they attended and the fees they paid. You failed to link those fees to corruption. We expected you to submit evidence of him receiving money illegally or engaging in corruption. How will you feel if the details of your children and their schools and addresses are published?
5. You are at loggergeads because he granted import licenses. Why don't you lobby legislators to amend the PIA to ensure NMDPRA cannot grant such licenses?
6. You attempted to penetrate the noodles market and left it as quickly as you came in because Dufil Prima already dominated the market. Are you afraid of competition?
7. Scale up production, plug loopholes and sell at prices Nigerians can afford. That way, you'd take a significant chunk of market share. Engaging in monthly smear campaign and attacking someone's children is not how to run a business. That is introducing political smear campaign in the corporate world. Until the refinery attains full capacity, import licenses are to continue.
We appreciate Aliko for building a refinery to meet Nigeria's energy needs. I suggest he buys out the marketers and take over their assets.
What happened to the 5billion dollar rehabilitation of port Harcourt n warri refineries?
This is how sensible people ask questions not this rubbish you r doing.
nairalanda1: The issue is not what we peg the budget on , but on the fact that we cannot or do not set the prices of oil, tin, columbite , gold and so on ( which we don't even produce in sufficient quantities to make economic sense anyway).
Because of that, the prices never favor us which is why we are in debt. Like oyel. We need oyel to be at 150 or at least 100 dollars per barrel to make economic sense
Even when Nigeria was selling a lot of cash crops and minerals in the 1960s, access to education, power supply, potable water and roads were poor.
So no matter what we do, we are going to keep on having problems meeting revenue targets.
Hence borrowing, which can be reduced by improving domestic tax revenues .
But the ultimate goal is an industrialized economy that produces goods for the world. Which is how china went from being a debtor to a creditor
How do u talk industrialization when everything is centred on the federal govt.. To build a kiosk, u need federal govt approval... Outside that, I don't see where Saudi is banking on industrialization to prosper. Not every country needs to be industrialized. We can use tourism, entertainment to scale up or gdp, we have the population, we have tourist sites, Nigerians r good n loving people, the issue is INSECURITY. No country can have everything at a go, China that is the most industrialized nation today still rely on other countries for some raw materials for their factories...
Tinubu came not only to steal but to also destroy and wreck havoc on the lives and properties of Nigerians...
From February this year, there's a 50naira levy CBN charges on every transaction that is above 10thousand naira. You receive 10k, you r charge 50 naira, you withdraw 10k, they charge the POS 50naira. In a day there r more than 2million transactions bove 10k in Nigeria.. 2million multiply by 50naira is 100million naira, multiply it by 30days in a month, thats 3Trillion naira. This is the tenth month since cbn introduced that policy, CBN should be talking about 30trillion in revenue from that singular policy... Yet they have a short fall of 30Trillion..
They r still pegging the budget on oil, oil and oil... Not Gold, Tin or columbite. Osun, Ekiti nor ogun states have oil, but they r so quick to rubbish Niger Deltans with ogogoro talk when we r the saviour of this fail contraption.
I blame the leaders of Niger delta, they accept peanut from these fail accountants...
Rita33: A surgery-addicted social media star known online as 'Mary Magdalene' has been found dead in Thailand.
The 33-year-old, whose real name was Denise Ivonne Jarvis Gongora, died after falling from the ninth-floor balcony of a high-rise condominium on Tuesday, the Phuket News reported this week.
Information released and verified by local police that verifies her identity and has independently confirmed the death with sources close to the family.
The Mexican-Canadian model's body was discovered by hotel staff in the parking area of the Patong Tower after 1.30pm, according to local police, just hours after checking in for one night.
Khaosod English reported that Gongora's body was transferred from Patong Hospital to Vachira Phuket Hospital for a full autopsy to determine the exact cause of death.
Shortly before her death, she had cryptically posted the closing scene from the 1998 film The Truman Show alongside a childhood photo of herself to social media.
iwaeda: They will tell you to tighten your belt, bear with them, impose more taxes, yet spend our common resources frivolously. Any one spend $5M on school have at least fives times, Nlfpmod. When we speak, they call us names, even in days of GEJ, not bad as this egbon.
I still dey remind them that GEJ pikin was schooling at Unical... Na there that boki guy catch am marry.

Common Sandy Onor he couldn't guide him to win Criss Rivers state, n him u dey call lion of south south... Him lioning no cross east west road...
yinkus6750: We have office if the First Lady. Same with office of the First Son. Didn't start with Seyi. During IBBs reign, his son's were visible in power. PMBs son too, till his bike accident. That's what our leaders have turned the country into.
No be this idiot dey praise buhari upandan that year, that buhari is the best thing that happened to Nigeria after the civil war... Do these fools reason before they speak?
JASONjnr: I managed a company some years back and we generated funds to run the company. But then, we still made budgets and ran out of our budgets.
There are certain things that Nigeria will use money for that's not captured on the budget. That's why Nigeria will always sort for supplementary budgets.
Also, the CBN also have its internal maintenance to do. We also pay certain amount of money to world bank and also use funds as giant of Africa to donate to other countries in crisis. Lots of this are not captured on the budget.
But then you have to be a president for you to be able to understand how to run a country and not point fingers simply because you feel you think there's corruption somewhere.
Was GEJ corrupt, answer in the voice of BAt? Anyone that spend out budgetary allocation is a thief... Budget captures 100 percent of spending, both capital n recurrent, it captures projected revenue for rhe fiscal year, and also deficit that may arise due to budget size. Any govt that spends money outside its budget is a thief!
Even if u earn surplus of what you projected, you push it into an account for savings. That's why we had ECA- Excess Crude Account which has been mismanaged since the coming of APC.
JASONjnr: You're setting examples that are not adding up...
The oil sector that you bring into this is already corrupt and has a very strong cabal.... Even Dangote who's worldly recognized to be rich couldn't stand them.
The president will do his very best and be rest assured that he will not step on toes.... But he will do his very best.
Lemme add something so you will ponder on it... I run a POS biz, beginning February this year every 10k and above transactions that we do, CBN charges 50naira, you receive 10k and above, 50naira is charged too, i just did some projections this afternoon, imagine there r 2billion transactions in the entire country that is 10k and above daily, that gives CBN 100Billion naira daily, if you sum it in a month thats 3Trillion naira. 3Trillion multiplied by 12minths, that's 36Trillion naira... 2025 budget size was 54Trillion nairA... From just POS we have generated 36Trillion naira... Ask CBN to account for these monies generated since February this year, peeps like you will come out and defend them.
For context, lagos alone have more than 200k POS, assuming each pos transact about 10 transactions above 10k daily, that's 200k multiplied by 10 which is 2m transactions daily above 10k which atttacts that 50 deductions from CBN.
You said a CEO can't steal, and I'm bringing u instances that happened in Nigeria. Oceanic bank was run down by his CEO, she have out outrageous loans to her cronies people that didn't have deposit up to 1percent in the bank, but got loans that exceed borrowing limits without commensurate collateral.. Thats how oceanic bank went down, likewise intercontinental bank. Heritage too the same thing... Tinubu heads Petroleum ministry, he supervises every day to day activities in the petroleum sector, under him 17Trillion naira is being used to pay for subsidies that he stopped, pipeline security that he criticized GEJ about, and other fictitious projects we don't even know its roots and location. And you r saying my analogy doesnt add up...
JASONjnr: If na me talk this one na.... Mods for vlban me reach 100yrs
But why's my opinion making you sound uneducated? How can a president steal money when he's got means to generate funds for himself....
Is like saying that a CEO steals his company's money. Does it make sense to you?
Why did oceanic bank, intercontinental bank fold?
Who were the chief culprits in their bankruptcy?
Who is the minister for petroleum?
NNpc is still having Under-recovery of over 7T naira, they r paying over 6T for energy security aka pipelines security... Just in 1year... I thought tinubu stopped paying subsidy, so what is Under-recovery still doing in nnpc audited books? Have u heard each opposition member that moved to APC was paid 1billion each?
2025 budget was 54T naira, Deficit is 13T, Debt servicing is 14.3T naira, meanwhile we r wasting 18T naira, monies legally generated by NNPC to secure pipelines, pay subsidies that they have stopped... And some fools r syaing e better make e be tinubu chop am than make atiku chop am... 18trillion would have cancelled the budget deficit and stopped the borrowing of the 13trillion and there about reduce the debt servicing to some extent... You see this country, e better make we either go our separate ways or military take over... Why pacify just few individuals in a country of 200m persons?
Everything to you guys is politics. Don't you have a life out of politics. If it's not Tinubu, it's Yoruba, is this how you are going to spend the rest of your life thinking one Yoruba man is behind your misfortune,
Wee u keep kwayet...
We r in democracy, and what happens in democracy is politics.
SeverusSnape: That's none of our business. TUluMbU till 2031. If they like, let them kidnap all our traditional rulers, as long as it doesn't hinder our lord tinibu from being president, No wahala.
Saturnalia: Trump will not talk now oooo, since there’s no crude oil to steal over there. So much for the World Police aka United Snakes of Amerika.
I hope Tinubu too is learning one or two things from the wisdom of Guinea Bissau ?
Let those Traitors with Born-To-Rule mentality from the North continue to undermine your Government with their Terror & Banditry sponsorship.
And let those self-marginalized & No-Joy Tribe from the Land of the Depleted Sun also continue to de-market Nigeria and celebrating chaos & anarchy all over Nigeria.
When it is time for the 2027 Elections, just hand over Power to one brutal & merciless Major General from Ijebu-Ode or Iragbiji and that will be the end of the cinema called Nigeria - which is what everybody secretly wants in the first place.
They can only shout and tag Trump, CNN, BBC & Amnesty on Twitter.
And if Trump wants to do busy body, just invite my very good friend from Russia (Vladimir Putin) to come build Naval and Air Force Bases in Lagos and Abuja. All of them will automatically back off!
