A survivor recounted, “They stopped our vessel, boarded it, and when their boat was full, they took off,” adding that a family member was also among those kidnapped.

The boat’s captain, who works with a registered ferry service, reportedly tried to evade the attackers, damaging one of the two engines in the process before turning back to Calabar.

On arrival at the Inland Waterways Jetty, passengers were questioned by the Police, their statements documented, and later released.

Efforts to get official comments from the Police commands in both Cross River and Akwa Ibom States are still ongoing.

The army and navy generals fed fat and allowed huge vessels to sail into and anchor in Nigerian waters, while smaller vessels went into the wellheads and flowstations to "bunker" (steal) Nigeria's wealth. During elections they got paid handsomely by governors in Niger Delta area and powerful interests in Abuja to allow them rig elections. This was at the heart of Wike's bold and open confrontation and accusation of army commanders during the last election. Wike exposed a lot of things.

The activities of these oil thieves facilitated by powerful figures in Abuja and Lagos further worsened the decades of environmental devastation by Shell's oil operation, especially in Ogoni land and the creeks.

At a point Shell thought it more prudent to sell off it's oil business in the creeks transferring the legacy oil spills small Nigerian operators and walked away with massive profit. They now focus on deep offshore operations only.

I used Moniepoint POS terminal, nefore the charges was every 10k, na 50naira charge, 1k na 5naira, sonif a customer wants to withdraw 10k, we add additional 200 naira to it, our profit will be 149naira for every 10k we transact.
Today that 149naira has been taxed by Tinubu govt with 50naira.
Our profit from 10k is now 95naira.
U need to do like 20 transactions to make 1900, oru r lucky u make smaller withdrawals of 1k, 2k to 5k to be able to make something daily.
Then at the end u will transfer the money to an account that u want to go withdraw from since moneipoint doesnt run a cash bank service.
Another 50naira will be deducted from your account.
If u r using another bank card to withdraw from atm, they charge u 107.5 naira on every withdrawals.
Even if u withdraw 2k from Atm using another bank card, na 107.5naira they will charge u.
Nextyear the govt will now add up the entire sum of money that flow thru my account, and then tax me based on the accruals. Not knowing I'm running a POS business where funds enter and leaves...
