I really do not believe that a title holder in Lagos state could come up and make such blasphemy in public I still do not think such aa figure of that magnitude could comment such.. However, if truly he has indeed altered such statement then SOMEBODY should please tell him that we have long past such era' where one would be cajoled or intimidated in doing something against his or her will! If he hasn't learnt yet he should take a cue on the last presidential election to know that the power of the PVC solely lies in the hands of the holder! He cannot choose for anyone who to vote for just like the Obi of Onisha or any other titled person(s) in the East cannot compel or force any Yoruba residing in the east to vote for his candidate! I think he should stop making empty threat on innocent, low abiding and tax paying citizens of Lagos state or he faces the wroth of the law.. Even our "no nonsense" buhari will not side him on this matter because he himself is trying to sanitize this great Nation from bigots claiming to have authority, be warned!
I don't think oba akiolu made that statement in such manner because I watched that meeting on TV,all he said was that lagos has been in the opposition since 1999 and this is the time for lagos to go with the government at the center as he urged igbo's to shun ethnic sentiments and vote the right candidate considering the current realities

Oba of Lagos, Rilwan Akiolu, has read the riot act to Igbo leaders and monarchs in Lagos State, warning that he will make life unbearable for them if they sabotage efforts being made to ensure that the governorship candidate of All Progressives Congress (APC) Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode, emerges as the next governor of the state.

The monarch, who summoned all the Eze-Ndigbo in the state to his palace, said the support of their kensmen for the opposition party in the state could frustrate current efforts being made in all quarters to ensure that Lagos was no longer in opposition with the Federal Government.

He said: “On Saturday, if anyone of you goes against Ambode, who I picked, that is your end. If it does not happen within seven days, just know that I am a bastard and it is not my father who gave birth to me.

“By the grace of God, I am the owner of Lagos for the time being. This is an undivided chair. The palace belongs to the dead and those coming in the future. On Saturday, if anyone of you, I swear in the name of God, goes against my wish that Ambode will be the next governor of Lagos State, the person is going to die inside this water.

“For the Igbo and others in Lagos, they should go where the Oba of Lagos heads to. When they were coming to the state, they did not come with all their houses. But now, they have properties in the state. So they must do my bidding. And that is the bidding of the ancestors of Lagos and God.

“I am not ready to beg you. Nobody knew how I picked Ambode. Jimi is my blood relation and I told him that he could never be governor in Lagos for now. The future belongs to God. I am not begging anybody, but what you people cannot do in Onitsha, Aba or anywhere you cannot do it here.”

Politics / Fashola Addresses Lagosians: Be Part Of Nigeria’s March To Positive Change by politifact: 6:58am On Mar 27, 2015
Dear Lagosians,

It is with a lot of pleasure that I address you today as we set our eyes on Saturday’s elections.

I think the elections will be historic and the whole world is watching and waiting, as we conduct the first of five elections that will be held in West Africa this year.

I think the elections will be historic because we will set an example for the whole of Africa and show that we can decide our affairs.

I know, however, that there can be no history without history makers.

You, the voters, the dynamic people of the Centre of Excellence, will be the history makers.

Ask yourself what you will be saying to your unborn children and grandchildren when they ask you in future where you were on the day when the Great Election that changed Nigeria, took place.

I am sure that you will want to answer that question with pride, to tell them how you woke up early and walked to the polling station to cast your vote.

This is one big reason why you must go out and vote and persuade members of your household and neighbourhood to vote; so that you can be a part of history.

The second reason is that this election is about your life, your safety, your wellbeing, your business, your roads, your children’s safety and wellbeing, their future and that of Nigeria.

As a caring father, mother, uncle or aunty, do you want someone else to decide the choices for you or will you make the choice yourself?

If you make the choice for yourself and for your children and you vote for the party that has made the most impact in your life, that will be historic, it will be music to their ears, and I am sure they will thank you for standing up to prepare that bright future for them.

Please know that what you choose to do on Saturday will decide whether Nigeria changes or remains the same over the next four years. So I urge you to come out and vote.

I know that an overwhelming majority of us want peaceful, transparent, credible and violence-free elections.

But as we wish for very successful elections, we must know that wishes alone will not take us there. We must take action to realise our wishes. We must go out to vote and make the change we want.

As long as we remain peaceful and law abiding, our numbers will be enough to send the strongest and clearest message of our desire for peace to those who do not wish us well.

I expect the security personnel to act professionally, in keeping you safe because they and their families also have a stake in a peaceful election.

As I have said before, this is a clean hands election.

So I urge you to wash your hands with soap and water before going out for accreditation in order to make it easy for the card reader to identify you.

I urge you all to be peaceful and patient with electoral officers and our children, the Youth Corpers, who will be assisting them to ensure that we all perform our civic responsibility and vote to make the type of society we want.

After you have cast your vote, you must remain at the polling station at a reasonable distance where you can see what is going on.

Please ignore those who say you cannot stay at the polling station. You have every right to do so.

Firstly, the election is about your lives, so why should it take place and be concluded behind your back?

Secondly, no law forbids you from staying at the polling station. You simply are not allowed to disturb other voters, interfere with the process or campaign for votes on Election Day.

Thirdly and most importantly, the Electoral Act requires that the result at each polling station must be collated, announced by the officials and posted at the polling station.

The question to ask those who say you cannot stay at the polling station is this: Who will hear the results, and to whom will they be announced, if voters have left?

Dear Lagosians, I urge us all to rise as one people as we did during the Ebola outbreak and demonstrate once again that we are different and we are special, that we can manage a democracy.

We have set an example for the whole of Africa about how to manage an Ebola epidemic in an urban centre. It was the first of its type in almost 40 years of Ebola epidemics. We did it in a democratic setting.

We can set an even better example with this election by being law abiding and peaceful.
Let us disappoint the prophets of doom and keep a date with destiny for ourselves and generations unborn.

Let us vote for CHANGE with our permanent voter’s cards and ballot papers, and make this Saturday’s election one of our finest political hours.

Dear Lagosians, history beckons. Don’t turn your backs.

God bless you all.

Eko o ni Baje

PDM Pretend-Members In Akure Reveal Gov. Mimiko Paid For Jonathan Support, As Party National Chairman Says: “We Already Endorsed Buhari”
Some former members of the Peoples Democratic Movement (PDM), a political machinery that was the brain child of the former vice president, Atiku Abubakar, have revealed how the embattled governor of Ondo state, Olusegun Mimiko, bribed leaders of the party to endorse President Goodluck Jonathan for a second term.
BY SAHARAREPORTERS, NEW YORKMAR 17, 2015
Some former members of the Peoples Democratic Movement (PDM), a political machinery that was the brain child of the former vice president, Atiku Abubakar, have revealed how the embattled governor of Ondo state, Olusegun Mimiko, bribed leaders of the party to endorse President Goodluck Jonathan for a second term.

Bode Ajewole and Gov. OIusegun Mimiko
They spoke on Monday shortly after the endorsement press conference at the Adegbemile Cultural Centre Press in Akure on Monday by the members of the group under the banner of Atiku and the PDM.

The group, which has members across the Southwest states of the country through its leader, Bode Ajewole said their decision to endorse Jonathan was hinged on the position of Jonathan to implement the recommendations of last year’s National Conference immediately he is reelected.

They said: “The Yoruba people are in the support of the recommendation of the Confab held last year, most which the sitting president Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan has vowed to implement immediately after his re-election.

"Believing in the ultimate fulfillment of Jonathan promises to us in the southwest, we therefore direct all members of AAA/PDM collectives and all members of the Yar-Adua political family in the southwest including those in APC, SDP, PDM, Labour Party and Accord to support and vote for President Goodluck Jonathan.”

But speaking with a SaharaReporters correspondent shortly after the purported endorsement, the members of the group confirmed they were bribed through the leadership of the group to endorse President Jonathan.

Some of them, who spoke under condition of anonymity, disclosed to SaharaReporters that they were fully mobilized from other Southwest states to travel to Akure, with all expenses paid, to carry out the endorsement, and that their leaders received a huge sum of money from Governor Mimiko for the job.

“Quote me anywhere, Governor Mimiko gave us money through our leaders to endorse President Goodluck Jonathan for second term. I know you are very inquisitive and eager to know more but I won’t tell you the amount I was given but I can tell you it’s a bribe”, one of the members said.

A woman and member of the PDM from Ekiti State also disclosed that she received a text message from the publicist of the group to mobilize members to Akure for the endorsement.  Thereafter they were paid cash for the visit, she said.

“Although leaders of the group have been telling us that there would be a meeting in Akure with some powerful politicians but they never revealed that the meeting would be with governor Mimiko to endorse President Jonathan but this morning I received a text message to mobilize some members to Akure for a Press conference and that was how I got to know that it was President Jonathan they want to endorse”, she revealed.

“I received N30, 000 for the visit, although a friend told me, I was cheated because I came all the way from Ogun state in free vehicle but at least I didn’t lose, I still gained from them”, another member told our correspondent.

Asked if he would surely vote Jonathan in the next week presidential election, he said “My friend, I don’t know the people in other Southwest states but for [us] in Ogun State Jonathan is a failure because if I vote him, my wife would kill me, she dislike Jonathan [more] than anything. The man has done nothing in the Southwest and he wants [our] vote.

“We are just collecting this money because it’s our money. We shall keep on deceiving him and his cohorts like Mimiko, we know that General Buhari is the only change for now that we need”, he declared.

Meanwhile, the National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Movement (PDM), Bashir Yusuf, has described those who endorsed President Goodluck Jonathan, at a press briefing in Akure as “not card carrying members” of the movement.

“We wish to make it categorically clear that members of the group that addressed the press conference in question are not members of PDM,” he declared in a statement issued in Abuja on Monday.  “They defected from our Party in June last year to pursue their aspiration in APC and are no longer members of our party.”

Furthermore, he stressed that the party had already endorsed the candidature of General Muhammadu Buhari of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as far back as January, reiterating that those who endorsed Jonathan lacked the mandate to speak for the party.

The National Chairman dissociated the party from the purported press conference convened alongside governor Mimiko in Akure in the name of the party to endorse Jonathan for a second term.

“Since they are not card-carrying members of PDM, they do not speak for PDM nor have any basis for doing so. While we wish them luck with their new project of supporting President Goodluck Jonathan in the forthcoming election, we call on them to desist from using the name of PDM in this obviously sponsored and commercial misadventure. They should find another platform to realise their aspiration since PDM is not for the highest bidder.

“The National Executive Committee of PDM had, at its meeting of January 22, 2015 unanimously, without any dissension, resolved to support the candidature of General Muhammadu Buhari and our Party will stand by that commitment until the end.

“Our members are already busy canvassing for support for Gen. Buhari across the country and will not be distracted from doing so. These political jobbers should please leave PDM out of their Jonathan-for-president misadventure”, the statement read.

You APC are very funny. You seem to believe things according to your emotions. Amosun is more popular than Jonathan? Bros, Amosun is even grasping for popularity. Buhari is not even talked about in Ogun State by majority of electorates
I have decided not to argue with anyone on this forum till march 28 but I think there are some things you ought to know about the south west, and I will explain it to you state by state . LAGOS-I have lived there all my life and I am very familiar with political events in this state since 1999 when bola tinubu became the governor .one thing about election in this state is that the oba's,OPC,afenifere or whatever name you give them don't hold any influence when it comes to election mobilization which is key to winning elections, rather,it is the local councils who are the closest to the grass roots and its been controlled by the APC. Secondly, lagos oba's will and can never campaign for GEJ as they are all in tinubu's pocket, thirdly, the APC is just too rooted in lagos,go to any newspaper stand and you will see for yourself. Fourthly, lagos state has the highest number of unemployed youth who attended the failed immigration recruitment and has an ax to grind with mr president(myself included). Fifthly, civil servants, market women,NURTW and other key interest in all in the kitty for the APC,however,mr president is only popular among the igbo residents in lagos who supports him for no other reason than ethnic sentiments. I can bet it that gen buhari will secure a landslide victory in lagos. OGUN- political analysis is about dynamism, that is,analysis should be made on the dynamics of each subject matter. There are three contending political parties in ogun state;the ruling APC,PDP and the SDP,the APC candidate, gov. Amosun is a performer and has further brightened the chances of the party even though former governor, segun osoba has decamped to the SDP but one thing I want you to know is that the yoruba's and the people of ogun state can vote different parties for different offices and also putting into consideration the fact that the APC vice presidential candidate, prof yemi osinbajo is from the state as ethnicity will play a major role. OSUN-I don't think I need to explain anything, osun is in the kitty for gen buhari. OYO- as a keen follower of the state by state campaigns of both the PDP and the APC,oyo state witnessed the largest turnout for the candidate of the APC,gen buhari who was so surprised he didn't even know what to say on the podium.I don't know how far the APC will go in the governorship election but I am telling you that GEJ will lose oyo state. ONDO- it must be noted that ondo is also a core yoruba state even though it is now under the PDP and the resentments of the GEJ administration by the yoruba's will come to play here. Furthermore, there is deep division within the PDP in this state while the opposition APC is waxing stronger on a daily basis.I have friends based in ondo state who confidently tells me governor mimiko has lost so much popularity in the state hence there is nothing he can do to save pres jonathan from losing the state. EKITI- This is the only state I think GEJ might win,gov fayose has continued his harassment of the opposition in the state and prevented them from campaigning for their candidate. Even with all his threats, gen buhari will still close in on the PDP. The yoruba's minds are made up already and this started when GEJ sidelined us in his government,we thought he only needed the votes of his kinsmen in the south-south and south-east to get re-elected,his time is up!

Afenifere And OPC Favor Jonathan
The endorsement of Jonathan's candidacy by the influential pan Yoruba group Afenifere and O'dua Peoples' Congress will in no small way influence the voting pattern of their members-most of whom are grassroot people. Otunba Gani Adams, National Coordinator, OPC said, “we took time to study the situation of things and we took time to look at the capacity of the candidates involved. I won’t deceive you, from the National Coordinating Council, we have decided to inform our followers that they should vote for President Jonathan.”

The National leader of OPC Chief Fedrick Fasheun had earlier threw his support behind the re-election bid of President Jonathan.

However, another influential group, The Yoruba Council of Elders refused to publicly endorse any of the candidates.

A Look at APC:
No doubt, APC controls 4 out of the Six government houses in the SW as at today, but the party has seen a huge dip in its political fortune in the region. One of the factor that helped the party to win Oyo and Ogun States in 2011 was the heavy factionalisaton within the PDP. Today, the APC in Ogun has had a major split with the SDP coming out a very strong beneficiary taking all Senators. The PDP in Ogun State is united. The APC also lost ALL their Senators in Oyo state, they can't boast of any today- though they gained a Senator in Ondo. In Lagos State, the influential Justice Group left the APC for the PDP. In Ekiti State, the APC was rejected in 2014. In Osun where it hold sway, the anger of civil servants over delay in payment of five(5) months salary may reflect at the Presidential poll. In Ondo State, the APC is not a force as it has little or no structure on ground.

Conclusion
With the Leading parties in the SW and two highly influential groups queuing behind the President's re-election, it is safe to say that the Yoruba nation favors President Jonathan, while the APC candidate Gen Buhari plays second fiddle. Though it won't be fair to write off APC from the political calculation of the SW, yet it will amount to misinformation to say the APC is in control of the region.

This is just my personal opinion based on the recent political situation in the country. 1.Pres. Goodluck jonathan performed below expectations in a time when nigerians expected so much from him. 2.His government recorded the biggest corruption scandals in nigeria's history. 3.He didn't quite act like he is the president of nigeria, rather he behaved like he was the president of the south-south.This is evident in his frequent defense by ex militant leaders(tom polo, asari dokubo, boyloaf)etc and chief edwin clark whenever the nigerian public criticizes him. 4.The country's economy has witnessed a massive recession under his administration which led to the devaluation of the naira twice. 5.The nigeria immigration service recruitment which led to the untimely death of more than twenty young nigerian graduates seeking employment(I was there myself)This sole incident pitched him against most nigerian youths which constitutes over 60percent of eligible voters. 6.He sidelined the yoruba's from his administration who could have been a very valuable ally against the north, this same yoruba's were very instrumental in his election as the president of nigeria. 7.The opposition party, the APC controls the three most populous and politically valuable states in the country namely;lagos, kano and rivers. This states have the most voter population as well as huge financial strength in the country. 8.Mr presidents party, the PDP ran a very bad campaign during this electioneering period, instead of telling nigerians what they(pdp)has in stock for the next for years, they resorted to hate and smear campaigns against the presidential candidate of the opposition APC which has ironically made gen buhari more popular. This is witnessed in several documentaries been ran on AIT,NTA etc. 9.The PDP appointed the wrong person for position of campaign spokesman;femi fani kayode who keeps making too many careless accusations and insults on opposition leaders which has given the APC public sympathy. The governor of ekiti state, ayo fayose and first lady patience jonathan also falls within this category, the trio's comments has successfully pitched the north against mr president, this is evident in patience jonathan's absence at the PDP women rally in niger state.just recently, there were rumors that Adamu muazu, the PDP chairman became furious over the these incessant attack on the person of gen buhari which has tactically turned the ruling PDP into the opposition party and allegedly threatened to resign 10.The opposition party,APC ran a very vigorous, organized, coherent and issue based campaigns. They did more in unveiling their plans for nigeria and avoided smear and hate campaigns against the ruling PDP,this is evident in their 'change' symbol which is virtually on the lip on every nigerian whether home or abroad. 11.Inec's insistence on the use of card readers and PVC's which would virtually eliminate election malpractices in the forth coming elections. 12. Since corruption is nigeria's major problem as we speak and anyone who is a good student of history would know that Gen Buhari is the only nigerian head of state who sincerely and frantically fought corruption and indiscipline head on even though his regime was short lived, then he is the rightly man for the job All thes aforementioned facts seem to me the reasons why president goodluck jonathan would be the first nigerian incumbent to lose re-election. Pleasant criticisms are welcome, thanks

in true democracy this is exactly how it is done. You will be campaigning in battleground states and regions not your stronghold. So PDP shouldn't be wasting time much on the SS and SE cos they are locked down for PDP. SW is the battleground for this election and all PDP need to do is to neutralize APC there. APC has NW and NE as it stronghold and are using threats and intimidation to scare PDP voters amongst them. Truth is GEJ will win in 3zones of SS,SE and NC. APC in NW and NE. The SW is where the battle is! Overall, GEJ willl win the popular votes and meet all conditions on 1st ballot. APC won't make the 25% in 2/3 states including abuja let alone the popular votes.
did u just say jonathan will win niger state, plateau state, kwara state, nasarawa state and kogi?benue will be too close to call and GMB might still win abuja.its obvious you know nothing about nigeria politics as witnessed in your analysis.aS it stands, buhari only need to win lagos, ogun, osun, oyo and a slight victory in ondo to become president

Joanthan spent five days in lagos in lagos and visited almost all the kings while allegedly sharing millions of dollars to different groups in the state.A week later,he is back in the state holding meetings with youths and canvassing for their support and just today, all PDP governors converged in the metropolis of all 36 states of the federation for the meeting. These moves to me are acts of desperation and corroborates the wide belief that Pres. Jonathan is in for a big loss.anyway,I have decided to vote change
