Education / How To Pass Your Semester Exams By Solution Ibe by Polynews: 6:48am On Aug 20, 2019
HOW TO PASS YOUR SEMESTER EXAMS
The Essence of the exam is not just to help you get a good grade, but also to create a well-rounded, accomplished professional. Passing exams can be challenging, expensive and time-consuming, but if you follow these top tips you will have a greater chance of success:

BELIEVE IN YOURSELF:

If you don’t believe that you will pass the exam you won’t, you will be defeated before you even start. If you believe in yourself, you are committed to doing your best both in your preparation and in the exam session.

INVEST IN YOURSELF:

It costs money, Time and Energy but the return on investment is worth it.
Becoming a brilliant Student opens the door to a wealth of career opportunities and the financial rewards that come with them. You must invest in your study materials; the e-books, recommended reading and Achieve if you can, but the most important investment is your time. If you put the work in, then you have the best chance of success, carry your notes wherever you go and read them whenever you have the opportunity.

UNDERSTAND THE SYLLABUS AND EXAM STRUCTURE:

Your first step in your studies should be to read and understand the structure of the exam you’re going to sit, this will give you a structure for your revision and will help you grasp how all the topics fit together. The syllabus explains how the marks are allocated and how each of the topics within the paper are weighted.

PRACTICE PAST EXAM QUESTIONS

“Practice makes perfect” and you should practice as many past exam papers as you can. Papers from the last four sessions are available to download from the Secure Document Library in My AIA and you should attempt at least one of these papers, as a mock exam, under conditions as close to the actual exam as possible.

MAKE SUMMARY NOTES:

To assist your recall when the exam comes around, make notes from your study materials and books, this can help embed the information in your mind, and gives you something to revise from as the exam approaches, rather than going back to the full book. Write bullet points for important concepts and key ideas which you need to remember

REMEMBER KEY INFORMATION:

Aid your memory of key information and formulas by making use of mnemonics (like SWOT) or by making posters that you can stick up around your room. You could even post it at the bottom of your bed, so it’s the last thing you see at night or the first thing you see in the morning.

PUT THEORY INTO PRACTICE:

The underpinning principle of the AIA qualification is the application of theory to practical situations, relating what you’re learning to the real world. Look for practical ways to apply the knowledge you’re acquiring, this will greatly benefit your understanding of the topics and make it easier for you to tackle case studies in the exam.

MAKE USE OF YOUR FRIENDS:

If you’re studying inside School, consider forming a small study group to help you with topics you don’t understand. If you don’t have any other students living near you, you can connect with other students through the Facebook group or contact me @+2348136562928. Not only will this help your studying, but you can also start to build your professional network, which in the future can refer you to job opportunities.

PLAN YOUR EXAM STRATEGY:

You have months to study but just over three hours to pass your exam, so it’s vital you know how you’re going to approach the exam and make the best use of that precious time. Know how you’re going to allocate your time before you get in the exam hall. You should allot some time at the beginning to read the paper through before you begin and then again at the end to check through your answers. The mark allocation indicated in the syllabus will also give you an idea of how long to spend on a question.
If you get stuck on a question, don’t panic, move onto the next question and if you have time you can go back to it. The examiner can’t allocate you any marks if you haven’t even attempted a question.

MAKE THE EXAMINER’S JOB EASY

Examiners will only mark what they can understand and read clearly, so it’s vital that you write clearly and legibly, and that you check your spelling and that what you’ve written makes sense. Examiners have a limited amount of time to mark exams, so it helps if you make your paper as examiner friendly as possible.

There's a guy in my department who got a fractured leg whilst playing a football match, and he spent 3 months and thereabout in the care of traditional bone setters. The poor guy just wasted his time. his leg got worse, and it later had to be amputated.

His fracture wasn't as serious. If he had visited a medical professional, he wouldn't have had such a bad fate.

Politics / ISIS Claims Responsibility For Killing Of 11 Soldiers In Borno by Polynews: 6:26am On May 13, 2019
The world’s deadliest terror group, the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria, has claimed responsibility for the attack on soldiers in Borno State last week which took the lives of 11 soldiers, Reutersreports.

ISIS said its men were responsible for the Friday attack of Gajiganna town through its news agency AMAQ.

The terrorist network on Saturday published pictures of burnt barracks and dead bodies it claimed belonged to the soldiers.

Three sources, including one hospital source, confirmed the attack to the Reuters news agency. The sources said the fighters stormed the town on a motorbike at roughly 6.30pm and opened fire on residents and the military in sporadic shootings.

The fighters fled after the military called in air force support and reinforcements from a battalion in a neighboring town.

Islamic State West Africa Province, an affiliate of ISIS, has carried out a string of attacks in Nigeria in recent months.

The group split in 2016 from Boko Haram, which has waged a decade-long insurgency in North-East Nigeria that has killed some 30,000 people and displaced over two million people.

The Federal Government had declared in December 2015 that it had technically defeated Boko Haram.

While attacks in most parts of the country have ceased, bombings have continued to take place in the North-East particularly Borno State.

A top military officer blamed the recent surge in attacks to the lack of cooperation as well as high wired politics taking place among the top military brass.

The source said, “The attack is true. We lost a lot of men but unfortunately, many things are being hidden from the press. Normally, in military operations, when there is a joint mission, the Chief of Defence Staff is supposed to be in charge.

“Unfortunately, that is not the case. The Chief of Army Staff is the one calling all the shots at the moment. And there is a lack of synergy among the services.”

When contacted on the telephone, the Director of Defence Information, Col. Onyeama Nwachukwu, declined comment, said the military had recorded several successes.

He said troops of 121 and 192 Battalions of Operation Lafiya in collaboration with Civilian JTF and local vigilantes, have cleared Surdewalla, Ranwa, Baladayo, Sabon Gari and Shetimeri villages in Borno State, in a simultaneous operation code-named, ‘Operation Hardstrike.’

The troops reportedly killed three terrorists at Ranwa 11, while many were wounded and others escaped.

He said troops of 192 Battalion advanced along with Sabon Gari and Shetimeri villages where they cleared a scout of Boko Haram terrorists. A makeshift shelter for suspected insurgents was also destroyed.

Nwachukwu added that two soldiers were injured during an encounter with insurgents at Gajigana town by troops of 212 Tank Battalion.

He said, “Additionally, 177 Task Force Battalion in collaboration with the Civilian JTF cleared Mboa, Mboa-Kura, Yarchida, Bombula, Tshata andBamzir villages. At Furfur village, troops exchanged fire with BHTs which led to the death of one terrorist and recovery of one AK47 rifle, three magazines, 50 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition and one magazine bandolier.”

Politics / Rochas Okorocha – The Evil I Feared In PDP Has Befallen Me 10 Times In APC by Polynews: 10:11am On May 09, 2019
The outgoing Governor of Imo State, Rochas Okorocha, on Tuesday, lamented that he had been afflicted with more evils in the ruling All Progressives Congress that he would have suffered if he had been a member of the Peoples Democratic Party.

He regretted that the APC had inflicted what he called the greatest devilish political machinations against his person 10 times more than what he would have been inflicted with if he were to be a member of the PDP.

Rochas Okorocha spoke with journalists in Abuja.

The embattled governor, however, said he would remain in the ruling party despite alleged moves to frustrate him out of the APC.

He accused the National Chairman of the APC, Mr. Adams Oshiomhole, and other unnamed leaders of the party of working with the Independent National Electoral Commission to kill his senatorial ambition.

This, he said, was being done by ensuring that he did not get his certificate of return as the duly elected senator for Imo West Senatorial District.

He said there were moves to damage his political career by his enemies.

Okorocha, who was elected governor in his first tenure as a member of the All Progressive Grand Alliance before he joined others to form the APC, said it was regrettable the evil that made him dump the PDP for the ruling party had become fiercer.

He said, “The evil I feared in the PDP has befallen me 10 times in the APC. Last week, I wrote a letter to INEC for the first time informing them of their wrongdoings and illegal actions to withhold my certificate on a mere allegation of duress which was never founded, neither was there any committee set up to investigate the matter.

“So, INEC on its own believed the reports of the Returning Officer without investigating the authenticity of the accusation. So, there was no issue of fair hearing at all.

“What is important here is that INEC does not have the power to withhold the certificate of return, having declared the result.

“I believe the INEC chairman is up to a game with the chairman of the APC, who is being used to frustrate my coming to the Senate, and this is politically motivated. I’ve given INEC enough time to correct itself and do the needful and issue me my certificate of return but to no avail.

“Many things have happened so far and these should be of concern to everyone. INEC that made the submission to the tribunal has gone back, requesting to withdraw it because the submission was defending its declaration. But because the submission seems to be in my favor, they have said they want to withdraw the affidavit which is out of time.

“The withdrawal was made by one of their members of staff who said that Festus Okoye, a commissioner in INEC, had threatened to sack him if he did not withdraw it. So, there is a huge threat going on in INEC.

“Festus Okoye is presently being used as the hatchet man; he has gone to the tribunal in Imo asking for the withdrawal of the affidavit that has been filed defending the APC.”

Okorocha wondered what the electoral body would do with the certificate of return.

He added that the image of the commission had been “bastardized.”

He said, “I wonder what they want to do with the certificate if they don’t give it to me, who will they give it to?

“Maybe they will give it to Festus Okoye because he is from my senatorial district but what they are doing is presenting INEC as a lying organization and that is dangerous for our democracy because, as it stands right now, the image of INEC is bastardized.

“What it means is that tomorrow somebody can withhold the certificate of return of anybody because you don’t like his face because you feel that he wants to politically challenge you in future.”

Although he is said to be close to President Muhammadu Buhari, Okorocha, however, said he did not want to bother the President with such an issue especially as it concerns INEC.

“If you know the President well, you will know that he will never intervene as he will only keep mute. But whether President Buhari speaks or not, INEC should do the right thing by giving me my certificate of return,” he added.

Return to a democratic party, PDP tells Imo gov

Meanwhile, the PDP has urged Okorocha to return to its fold, saying the views of its members will not be discarded.

It also said that unlike the APC, there was no one or group that could lay claim to the ownership of the PDP.

The National Chairman of the party, Prince Uche Secondus, who spoke with one of our correspondents, said the PDP “will always treat its members with respect and allow for robust debate on issues affecting the party and our members.”

He added, “Unlike the APC that is owned and controlled by different cabals, the PDP is owned by the people and they are the ones that determine its present and its future. So, I will expect all those that are suffering and smiling, all those who have been beaten by rain and chased out of the party they formed and the house they built without a solid foundation to return to their natural abode where there is peace and tranquility.”

Efforts to reach the APC National Publicity Secretary, Mallam Lanre Issa-Onilu, were unsuccessful.

He neither returned phone calls nor replied to a text message sent to him by one of our correspondents as of the time (8:30 pm) of filing this report.

CJ rejects Okorocha’s petition, refuses to re-assign CoR suit

Meanwhile, the Chief Judge of the Federal High Court, Justice Adamu Kafarati, has rejected Okorocha’s petition in respect of his suit challenging INEC’s refusal to issue him a certificate of return as a senator-elect.

Okorocha had petitioned Justice Kafarati requesting that the case be withdrawn from Justice Okon Abang of the Abuja Division of the court and be reassigned to another judge of the same division.

The governor had anchored his petition on a claim that the opponents to his suit were confident before the hearing could commence that Justice Abang would rule in their favor.

On April 18, the date fixed for the hearing, Justice Abang announced his decision to withdraw from the suit after seeing the petition.

The development came barely a week after the first judge, Justice Taiwo Taiwo, also of the Federal High Court in Abuja, withdrew from the case.

Justice Taiwo had withdrawn from the case after being accused of the likelihood of bias by two parties to the suit.

He withdrew from the case on April 10, following which it was reassigned to Justice Abang.

But indication has emerged that Justice Kafarati had rejected Okorocha’s petition seeking the re-assignment of the case to the third judge as the matter came up before Justice Abang on Wednesday.

It was learned that the Chief Judge returned the case file to Justice Abang on being satisfied with his response to Okorocha’s petition.

At the Wednesday’s proceedings Okorocha, who is of the APC opposed the PDP’s motion seeking to be joined in his suit.

Rochas Okorocha, through his counsel, Mr. Kehinde Ogunwumiju (SAN), objected the PDP’s application on the grounds that the application was brought in bad faith.

But PDP’s lawyer, Mr. Stanley Imo, held that the objection to his client’s application for joinder by Okorocha was not well-founded.

Justice Abang agreed that the matter was time sensitive but assured all the parties of fair hearing.

He adjourned the matter until May 9 (Thursday) to rule on whether or not to join the PDP as a party in the suit.

INEC had refused to issue Okorocha the certificate of return on the basis that the Returning Officer for the February 23 election, Prof Francis Ibeawuchi, said he had announced the outgoing governor as the winner of the senatorial election under duress.

Okorocha had subsequently filed his suit challenging INEC’s decision to withhold the certificate of a return due to him as the winner of the election.

Family / Police Officer Sues A Friend For Failing To Impregnate His Wife After 77times by Polynews: 12:30pm On May 03, 2019
A police officer Darius who hired his friend to impregnate his wife is now suing the said friend for breach of contract.

Apparently, the hired friend could not deliver his end of the bargain after having sex with his wife 77 times.

A Tanzania police officer is suing his friend for failing to impregnate his wife after having sex with her 77 times. According to the source, this officer hired his friend to sleep with his wife in order to get her pregnant.

50-year-old Darius Makambako who had been told by doctors that he was sterile hired his neighbor Evans Mastano, to impregnate his 45-year old wife, Precious. But after 2,000,000 Tanzanian Shillings and 77 times, Precious was still not pregnant.

After three evenings a week of sex for 10 months in 2016, Darius Makambako grew suspicious when his wife still remained unpregnant. So he demanded a medical examination which revealed that Evans Mastano was also sterile. This shocked everyone except Evan’s wife who confessed that his two children were not really his.

Darius is now dragging Evans to court for breach of contract in an effort to get his money back, but Evans rubbishes his claim because he said he did not assure conception, but only that he would make an effort. Police officer sues a friend.
