I sent them my traveling ticket, boarding pass and stamp on my passport that shows that i am currently in Nigeria. I hope that’s sufficient enough

Well, to my own understanding, i believed officer sense that you are presently not residing in your home country, thus leads to the email you got.
You will need to try in order to convince the officer...
Recently, they are more interested in the applicants that are residents of their home country than those who have substantial ties outside their home contry.

I Live and work in a different country in African but I applied while visiting Nigeria because the processing time for Nigerian applicants was 52 days when I applied.

I Just want to share my experience with DHl Isolo office for my May 22nd IW passport drop off appointment. I arrived at DHL office Isolo by 7:30 for my 8:30 AM appointment. They were about 18 of us who came to drop off our passport. By 8:30am we were all done with the passport submittion. The whole process was quick and smooth nd the staffs were very friendly and helpful. I would recommend this location to anyone submitting in Lagos.

You need to go with your passport if you're going for in person interview or drop your passport with them for IW.
