Romance / Re: Can A Normal Guy Stay One Month Without Sex? by portable86(f): 2:29pm On Feb 13, 2015
eminemkayc:

The recommendations i proffered did the trick. The fact is, since that time, I hardly actually have time for myself due to the intense nature of my job, which coincidentally is my passion so it takes the best of my TIME. Before you know whats happening, you're deeply involved in what interests you as you spend more time pursuin your passion/aspirations and you start creating wealth from it as days build into weeks and years.
Don't get it distorted, you definitely get turned on onCe in a while as these are as a result of normal bodily functions, but then, thats where self discipline I spoke about play a vital role.

Note also, that you need to start seeing women/females as partners, good friends to share ideas with just like your sisters/relatives who you could learn from and not as sex-objects as forums like this and many others make you believe they are. Only then would the continuous tot of sex flee your cranium
07 Till date,hmmmm!

Literature / Chimamanda's 'Lights Out In Nigeria' by portable86(f): 1:48pm On Feb 02, 2015
WE call it light; “electricity” is too sterile a word, and “power” too stiff, for this Nigerian phenomenon that can buoy spirits and smother
dreams. Whenever I have been away from home for a while, my first question upon returning is always: “How has light been?” The response, from my gateman, comes in mournful degrees of a head shake.

Bad. Very bad.

The quality is as poor as the supply: Light bulbs dim like tired, resentful candles. Robust fans slow to a sluggish limp. Air-conditioners bleat and groan and make sounds they were not made to make, their halfhearted cooling leaving the air clammy. In this assault of low voltage, the compressor of an air-conditioner suffers — the compressor is its heart, and it is an expensive heart to replace. Once, my guest room air-conditioner caught fire. The room still bears the scars, the narrow lines between floor tiles smoke-stained black.

Sometimes the light goes off and on and off and on, and bulbs suddenly brighten as if jerked awake, before dimming again. Things spark and snap. A curl of smoke rises from the water heater. I feel myself at the mercy of febrile malignant powers, and I rush to pull my laptop plug out of the wall.

Later, electricians are summoned and they diagnose the problem with the ease of a long acquaintance. The current is too high or too low, never quite right. A wire has melted. Another compressor will need to be replaced.

For succour, I turn to my generator, that large Buddha in a concrete shed near the front gate. It comes awake with a muted confident hum, and the difference in effect is so obvious it briefly startles: Light bulbs become brilliant and air-conditioners crisply cool.

The generator is electricity as electricity should be. It is also the repository of a peculiar psychology of Nigerian light: the lifting of mood. The generator is lord of my compound. Every month, two men filled with mysterious knowledge come to minister to it with potions and filters.

Once, it stopped working and I panicked. The two men blamed dirty diesel, the sludgy, slow, expensive liquid wreathed in conspiracy theories. (We don’t have regular electricity, some say, because of the political influence of diesel importers.) Now, before my gateman feeds the diesel into the generator, he strains it through a cloth and cleans out bits of dirt. The generator swallows liters and liters of diesel. Each time I count out cash to buy yet another jerrycan full, my throat tightens.

I spend more on diesel than on food.

My particular misfortune is working from home. I do not have a corporate office to escape to, where the electricity is magically paid for. My ideal of open windows and fresh, breathable air is impossible in Lagos’s seething heat. (Leaving Lagos is not an option. I love living here, whereNigeria’s energy and initiative are concentrated, where Nigerians bring their biggest dreams.) To try to cut costs — sustainably, I imagine — I buy an inverter. Its silvery, boxlike batteries make a corner of the kitchen look like a physics lab.

The inverter’s batteries charge while there is light, storing energy that can be used later, but therein lies the problem: The device requires electricity to be able to give electricity. And it is fragile, helpless in the face of the water pump and microwave. Finally, I buy a second generator, a small, noisy machine, inelegant and scrappy. It uses petrol, which is cheaper than diesel, and can power lights and fans and freezers but only one air-conditioner, and so I move my writing desk from my study to my bedroom, to consolidate cool air.

Day after day, I awkwardly navigate between my sources of light, the big generator for family gatherings, the inverter for cooler nights, the small generator for daytime work.
Like other privileged Nigerians who can afford to, I have become a reluctant libertarian, providing my own electricity, participating in a precarious frontier spirit. But millions of Nigerians do not have this choice. They depend on the malnourished supply from their electricity companies.

In 2005, a law was passed to begin privatizing the generation and distribution of electricity, and ostensibly to revamp the old system rooted in bureaucratic rot. Ten years on, little has changed. Most of the companies that produce electricity from gas and hydro sources, and all of the distribution companies that serve customers, are now privately owned. But the link between them — the transmission company — is still owned by the federal government.

I cannot help but wonder how many medical catastrophes have occurred in public hospitals because of “no light,” how much agricultural produce has gone to waste, how many students forced to study in stuffy, hot air have failed exams, how many small businesses have foundered. What greatness have we lost, what brilliance stillborn? I wonder, too, how differently our national character might have been shaped, had we been a nation with children who took light for granted, instead of a nation whose toddlers learn to squeal with pleasure at the infrequent lighting of a bulb.

As we prepare for elections next month, amid severe security concerns, this remains an essential and poignant need: a government that will create the environment for steady and stable electricity, and the simple luxury of a monthly bill.

Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie is the author, most recently, of the novel “Americanah.”

Pets / "Zombie cat" Resurrect From The Dead 5 Days After Being Buried by portable86(f): 9:37am On Jan 31, 2015
A ‘zombie cat’ was run over by a car, pronounced dead by a
veterinarian and buried only to return from the dead five days later, Tampa, Florida, USA.

Bart is waiting for surgery, was run down by a car in Tampa, Florida, and buried – but apparently returned from the dead after five days

Family pet Bart who was hit by a car, suffering head trauma, a broken jaw and a damaged eye was found by his owner lying on the road in a pool of blood. The cat was presumed dead and buried in a shallow grave.

Bart’s owner, Ellis Hutson, said, “I looked at it, and I looked at it, and I didn’t see the chest moving up and down or anything and I said, “you know, well look at the blood, it’s dead.”‘

But five days after an apparently fatal accident Bart showed up back shocking Mr Hutson. The man immediately took the cat to the Humane Society

Speaking to journalists about the strange happening, Mr Hutson said, “We have two cats and they play together all the time and they roam around with each other. He might have went looking for his brother and dug him up – but I have no idea.”

Bart was buried in this shallow hole not far from his home, by Hutson’s friend David Liss

Bart is expected to complete an amazing recovery and should be able to return home to his owner in the coming weeks. Experts believe Bart rose from the grave not long after being buried there – but was scared so stayed away from home for several days.

Step 2:
Start off withlight (emphasis on 'light') strokes at the bottom of your brow.
P.S. Never start filling from the front of your brows to avoid harsh lines and to achieve a more natural look. You can get a little darker at the tail to define the brow.

You can also outline the top part of your brow following the natural curves

Step 3:
Then you can go in and start filling in the brows, again, lightly
extending it to the beginning of the brows.

This is what it looks likes before brushing with the mascara wand
Notice the starting point of my brows do not have as much product as the end.

Step 4:
I started brushing from the arch dragging it to the beginning part of my brows.
This helps to blend in the brow pencil to my skin and remove harsh lines.

After doing this you'll notice that the product used (in this case pencil) will spread towards the beginning part of your brows as seen in the image above.

Step 5:
Using the flat defining brush and concealer, I used the concealer to define the lower part my brows starting from the arch working inwards.

Use your exact shade of concealer (in my case I used the same concealer as the bottom) to define the upper part of your brows (optional).

Step 6: Blend out the highlighted areas.

That's it!

Health / Six Common Causes Of Dark Circle Around The Eyes And Remedies For Them. by portable86(f): 11:52am On Jan 22, 2015
One of our biggest beauty bugbears is dark eye bags.
While we know the best way to mask stealthy shadows with concealer, we want to get to the root of the problem by targeting the causes.
Find out why you always seems to continually see that irritable dark circle around your eyes no matter how much you try to get rid of them.

The discolouration around the eyes is thanks to tiny broken capillaries which can show through as dark patches – and the more fragile the thin skin there becomes, the more 'shadows' show. A variety of health and lifestyle (as well as genetic) factors can make them appear more prominent, so a holistic approach is required to eradicate them.

Here are some of the Common Causes;

1) Iron Deficiencies: "Dark circles can be a sign of an iron deficiency such as anemia. If you have low iron in your blood, hemoglobin (which carries oxygen) can breakdown more easily causing the thin skin below the eyes to appear dark or bruised." Ensure you maintain proper iron levels by eating red meat, green leafy vegetables, nuts and seeds - and if you're concerned visit your GP.

2) Stress: "When you're stressed more blood is directed to your main organs leaving your face looking drained and pasty." This makes dark circles appear more noticeable. "Stress can also cause the fragile capillaries around the eyes to break or leak blood. The blood spreads out under the skin (pools) and becomes oxidized forming a dark purple hue. "

3) Fatigue: "A lack of sleep causes paleness of the skin allowing darkness under the eye to be more prominent and visible."

4) Rubbing Your Eyes: The thinnest area of skin on your face is around your eyes. "This is also the most sensitive part of your face and the capillaries under this skin are more prone to breakage and leakage" – hello purple reign, again. Message: don't rub or pull your eyes!

5) Wearing Heavy Frame Glasses: "This puts stress on the delicate skin around eyes and causes broken capillaries."

6) Sun Damage: "Sun damage to this fragile skin can, as above, leave capillaries vulnerable" and you know what that means – "breakage and leakage." Wear light-weight sunglasses in harsh sun and shield your eyes from unnecessary UV exposure

Ways To Remedy Dark Circles

1) Take a Vitamin B complex: "B vitamins help strengthen blood vessels and capillaries, to limit breakage and leakage in the eye area."

2) Up Your Vitamin C And Other Natural Antioxidants: "These help fight off damaging free-radicals that weaken the skin causing it to become thinner and more translucent, therefore making dark circles more visible." Ditch the junk food which does the opposite.

3) Avoid Certain Medications: "Anything that could dilate blood vessels results in increased blood flow around eyes which can cause shadows to darken." Check with your doctor or a pharmacist if you are unsure.

4) Use A Targeted Eye Treatment: Reinforce your delicate capillaries and brighten your skin with a multi-pronged products continously for desired results. Check with your beautician for recommended products available in our Nigerian stores.

I don't 'rate' sites, so please don't send me to your blog for that purpose. If you want help, then specify the kind you need.

7. You’re Sexier When You Ovulate

True fact: men find ovulating women more attractive! One study from the Psychological Science journal discovered that men’s testosterone levels soared when they caught a whiff of clothing worn by ovulating women. Conversely, men experienced lower levels of testosterone production when sniffing the clothes of non-ovulating women. This suggests a male biological urge to mate with women when they are at their most fertile.

Fortunately for the propagation of the human species, this principle works both ways. Anecdotal evidence suggests that women are more in the mood to do the deed when they’re ovulating, and science has even chimed in its support for that widely held opinion. Studies have shown that women in committed, happy relationships are more likely to wear revealing clothing and flirt with other men during ovulation. What’s more is that a woman’s libido intensifies during ovulation as she approaches her sexual peak between age 30 and 35.

8. The Mythical Alfa Chick

If you’re a woman who works or lives with other women you know what I mean by the term “Alfa chick”—it refers to the woman who synchs up all other women to the same period start time so all women in the group menstruate at the same time. So is the Alfa chick real or myth? Even though research is still inconclusive, if you get your period at the same time as your sister or BFF, it certainly seems real.

Though the Alfa chick myth hasn’t been scientifically proven, folklore is filled with ways women can “synch” their cycles. For example, women have been matching their menstrual cycles to the phases of the moon for centuries. In modern times, a 1971 study also concluded that regular social contact with other women tended to lead to statistically significant matches in the menstrual cycles of the women in the group. Maybe there is something to this Alfa chick thing after all…

9. Sex During Menstruation

Did you know that a woman can still get pregnant when she’s menstruating? Although this isn’t the most fertile period, according to United States National Institutes of Health (NIH) research, women can get pregnant at almost any time during their cycle. Of course, the most fertile days are in and around the ovulation period (when an egg is released), which is why couples trying to conceive will track fertility using an ovulation calculator to predict optimal times to have intercourse in order to successfully get pregnant.

After about three days of menstruation, women start to experience rising levels of estrogen and progesterone as their bodies replenish the endometrium and restart the process of ripening follicles. Thus, while your chances of getting pregnant are still fairly low at this time, they steadily increase as you move out of menstruation and into the pre-ovulation phase.
