Just don't be quick to pick and choose your statements out of context my man!

I already applaud these guys....they tried their best..........Even Mikel, was able to re-launch himself!
My argument is simple......we are simply lacking in technicalitiessssss wink wink wink

Even though it is sometimes difficult to believe in the contraption called Nigeria……….........However, the football sport/thing is something so difficult to shy away from as a Nigerian. I have personally watched Nigerian Eagles play ever since 1986! I may be too young/old for some people on here………….but the passion is still and forever there!
Diego Forlan, we know him already and Suarez is not a stranger to us…….The question is why is it so difficult to counter their capabilities when we play against themhuh?

We can recall Osaze and the likes, but if we still have the same attitude towards football game, we will not win!

We have been lacking in football ever since Atlanta 2006 and world cup in 2004. The area we need help is in the technical area. If you can recall, the only time we did well was under some self acclaimed technically sound foreign coaches.

In as much as I am not advocating for a foreign coach………Keshi can still do the same job of winning, all he needs to do is shun all NFA bureaucracy and work like somebody that is hungry for a win all the time. Yeah, NFA decides the funds for football development………and it is a sad situation.

dozai: Dead ball specialist learn it in their clubs not in the national teams. For now the only one we have unfortunately not playing is Sone Aluko. Lukman Haruna is also better than Mikel.
With respects.......what i am suggesting is simply that we seem to have a team we can work with at the moment. Those guys that played today can defeat any team in the world as far as soccer is concerned. They only need a football psychologist along with a technically sound coach. Keshi is good, but needs to update himself technically. Haruna, Aluko and the likes may be a good option o.........but heck, why is it a difficult task to train these group we have now while the likes of Haruna, Aluko can work hard and be a part of the team regardless of quota system/tribe within the NFA?

awesome_t: They Tried!
Perhaps, we should go back to the days of monkey posts and very small football pitch to train and re-train these superstars that played today! Those boys are legends.......they are just lacking in technical know how! They need to be able to personally read games and enter each game with a winning spirit. As a Naija person/man...........we naturally have a winning attitude! So we need to enforce that! wink
SportsRe: Nigeria Vs Uruguay - Confederations Cup: (1 - 2) On 20th June 2013 by portage(m): 1:09am On Jun 21, 2013
Nice game all in all. Very entertaining if you ask me.
We need to overhaul the whole of NFA plus the coaching crew. The whole Ministry of sports should GO.
Stephen Okechukwu Keshi needs to update himself technically as far as football is concerned. We really appreciate his efforts over the years as a player and presently as a coach!
Football is presently more than than just kicking the ball……I think you need to kick the ball with a purpose! Things like free kick is an advantage………so as players, you need to take maximum advantage of the situation….Thus, we need to start training players to be specialists in things like spot kick, free kick etc etc. Check out Daivid Bekham, Cristian Ronaldo, Finidi George, Austin Jay Jay and the likes............
SportsRe: Nigeria Vs Uruguay - Confederations Cup: (1 - 2) On 20th June 2013 by portage(m): 12:48am On Jun 21, 2013
Musa is not in anyway a Boko Haram! He surely knows his Onions! Great player if u ask me!

We simply need a correct axe man and some technicalities! As an example, we play free kick more like a routine, which I think should not be the case! We need to train our midfielders that playing free kick is a job and not that because a player like Mikel plays in EPL, then he should know how to do it! NO. It does not work that way if you ask me.
These set of boys are hungry and they want to win! They are only lacking in the technical area. They also need a football psychologist to drum it in their ears (everyday at training)that all they ever need is WIN WIN all the time!

@Aurorae.........Human beings are generally and naturally scared of the unknown wink (Fear of the unknown)
And this simply explains the reason it is always difficult to conquer your fears and move higher and higher! The truth is, with music like Enya's....you have the opportunity to relax and open your mind and open your thinking grin and figure out ways you can solve so many of your problems!

lorretta u: Phrases like
In the shades of avalon
Far beyond the yellow sea
Feel the power of babylon
Far beneath the coral sea(wetin she dey find beneath sea huh
In the isles of Ebony
E.t.c

Makes people say her songs are demonic.
Cos most of these words have direct reference to old magic
Isles and avalon e.t.c refer to old magic which used demonic powers.
Won't stop me from loving it though
Well, it will interest you that people like King Sunny Ade, Orlando Owoh sometimes say certain things that are very, very beyond a normal Yoruba mind! What i mean by normal Yoruba mind is of course, recent times yoruba people that can not even spea or write in Yoruba smiley For example, Listen to Odu Album track 7 or so (Sunny Ade) or Listen to Orlando Owoh whenever he starts singing in his Ifon/Owoh dialect!!

Chrisbenogor: bros na wa for you, some people watch to see messi dribble or Cristi play free kick. In my days I played at right back with the occasional "No 4" as we called it those days which was basically Box-Box, support left right attackers and full backs, I felt the pain. Each time I watch football my eyes naturally go to the engine room, and these days there are so many different variants.

Claude Makelele was the definition of that role, not making silly lunging tackles or running with no purpose for 90 minutes, he read the game and made the very very annoying interceptions (kai I hated him the most at chelsea) While that yeye terry and co were taking Glory the silent workhorse was Claude.
Now, you made me laugh seriously at the bold grin grin grin...........serious point!!!!!
SportsRe: Super Eagles Vs Mexico - (2 - 2) -Intl Friendly On May 31 2013 by portage(m): 4:35am On Jun 01, 2013
ogugua88: I don't know if either of you have watched Mexico play before today. They are far more organized than Nigeria, and they can certainly last 90 minutes in a match... even with 10 men as we saw today. If Mexico came at us with the strength they displayed in the second half with 11 men, I may be crying myself to sleep saying "every dog has its day".

Nigeria is good and we're all glad they won AFCON I'm the happiest o. The team that won was not organized from the very beginning. We all knew Keshi had work to do even after winning that tournament. Today's narrow draw only fortifies what most of us already knew.

I can't wait for our team to be an organized squad. Organization will make us a bigger African threat than we currently are.
THANK YOU JARE MY BROTHER......It is all about TEAM SPIRIT (organization and coordinnation)!
SportsRe: Super Eagles Vs Mexico - (2 - 2) -Intl Friendly On May 31 2013 by portage(m): 4:27am On Jun 01, 2013
Uyi Iredia: And I'm repeating to you that 10-men teams have stalemated or won 11-man teams. Hence, the 'edge' of an extra player doesn't count.
Perhaps, you should go and read what one Ogugua88 just posted.......

10 against 11 is an advantage.......take it anywhere and you will be justified. If it had been 11 against 11.....we will all be saying a different thing now man!
SportsRe: Super Eagles Vs Mexico - (2 - 2) -Intl Friendly On May 31 2013 by portage(m): 4:17am On Jun 01, 2013
Uyi Iredia: 10 men teams have beaten or stalemated 11-men teams before. The precedent isn't new. I doubt you'll have been saying what you just said about Keshi right after the AFCON win.
Tinnymerit and Uyiiredia……..i respect your views, however, I was on stating a simple fact from the game we all just watched! Why was it difficult for a 10 man team to outplay 11 man team?? The 11 man team already has an edge. Therefore, it is expected that they maintain that slim edge…. In our case, it is difficult. Simple.
SportsRe: Super Eagles Vs Mexico - (2 - 2) -Intl Friendly On May 31 2013 by portage(m): 4:03am On Jun 01, 2013
These boys tried their best. We should all give it to them.
However, a draw is not just good enough for Nigeria’s image as far as football/soccer is concerned. To be honest, 11 against 10 is enough for any team to win! It seems that tactically, Nigeria is deficient. It has always been a difficult feat for Nigeria to maintain a psychological edge in football. We still need that “psychological” balance against whoever our opponent is in football. Football is not all about physical power. Mental balance is still part of football. Go ask refined coaches……it is just difficult to process a 10 man Mexican team against a full 11 man Nigerian team. Perhaps, Stephen Keshi is not the man to lead Nigeria!

dare2think: Its obvious ruggedman is not privy to the general nature of Journalists.

This is a phenomenal occurrence that is appropriate for whoever is in a leadership position.

know your s/h/it before you come on Tv.

We are so used to having incompetent people in position that exposing their inadequacies sounds offensive.

Rugeedman is an illiterate in this matter.
Exactly my take on the previous page. As a leader, you can use interview to boos your acceptance or ruin it. So, as a leader you need to be ahead at every point. because opposition party or someone interested in yyour position can successfully use whatever you say against you. Therefore, you might loos that your juicy position angry
CelebritiesRe: Ruggedman Insulted On Twitter For Scolding Channelstv Reporters by portage(m): 12:13am On Mar 16, 2013
If Nigeria likes to copy everything foreign...i suppose it is good for our journalists to copy the likes of CNN, Channel 5 (in the UK) on how to make our so called leaders look uncomfortable sometimes.
This guy in the interview is a leader in his own capacity. Therefore, he has been exposed as somebody that does not know much about what is going on in his workplace. A very simple I DO NOT KNOW or I can not answer that would have been the best answer and shut these Channells tv crew!!!
Maybe people should watch HARDTALK, THE BIG QUESTION (on Sundays in UK) or Andrew Marr (on Sundays in UK too. We need to understand how freedom of speech works. People need to see how ill informed the people we charge to lead us (our leaders)truly are. Most of them are not just worth stepping out of their house, let alone lead an organization if you ask me.
Whenever you are called out to be interviewed, it is important that you need to be a step ahead of those journalists by making them look stupid instead of you being interviewed. SIMPLE. angry angry
CareerRe: University Courses That Are Waste Of Time by portage(m): 4:36am On Jan 13, 2013
It is because of a thread like this that brings people out to really make some comments on this forum. To put things in perspective, I only come to Nairaland to read and keep myself informed on things going on back home. Now, I think you have succeeded in generalizing when you are of the opinion that certain courses in higher institution generally are not worth pursuing! What a fallacious statement!!

If you say for example in Nigeria, I will not mind your hasty generalization. But for you to now suggest and conclude that certain courses are not worth the while is simply wrong and you are sending a wrong message out to the world (people). Not only about you, but Nigeria and Africa as a whole in general terms! This, my friend is totally unacceptable. People would have learn a new thing about the failing/failed educational structure we have in Nigeria as an example. For example, music as a course of study was totally condemned by you or someone on this same thread. Say for example, if you or someone you know has a passion for music, nothing stops you from conducting a study to ascertain lyrics behind a certain song.
When you conduct a research on something like this, you end up adding some educational knowledge to the creative Arts field and music in particular. As an example, I think “suddenly” track and video by D’banj gives room for a lot of question that are begging for answers in the academic world as far as Nigerian music industry is concerned. One can start off by hypothesizing that God fatherism (Don Jazzy in the context of the video)in Nigerian music industry is different in African context as suppose to the western world. This is just an example. It is left for you to prove this assertion right or wrong based on your study findings. Meanwhile, your conclusions will of course bring a new thinking in to how the world sees African/Nigerian music.
Therefore, you can become an authority in this context and who knows, if CNN or Aljazeera or MSNBC is looking for an expert someday, you may be called upon! You may even get funding from top ranking universities in the US to study contemporary African music! Sky is your limit bro….all you need to do is think outside the box. Life is good and certainly no knowledge is lost.

PoliticsRe: Why Are Nigerians In Diaspora So Bitter? by portage(m): 1:24am On Oct 06, 2012
ballabriggs: It is simple. You live in a country that does not have a quarter of the resources Nigeria has but they are able to organise themselves and use the little they have to uplift humanity. We cannot simply provide basic healthcare for our people in spite of the resources we have, how pathetic. You call it corruption, I call it cannibalism. It is people eating their own. True talk there and may God bless you.

Secondly it is absolutely false to say these guys do not contribute anything to Nigeria. Part of their earnings are capital flows to Nigeria in the form of remittances. That is a source of foreign exchange earnings to Nigeria. Also most of them spend their time studying abroad. That is contributing to the stock of human capital for Nigeria. I sincerely hope they realize this valid point In addition, some of them have foundations and societies that contribute to development in Nigeria. For example, some of my relatives and I in the US and the UK have a foundation and we know how much that foundation has contributed to humanity in Abonema our immediate constituency.

It is myopic to think most of them make no contribution to uplift Nigeria. They are not under any obligation to make known what they have done. The mere fact that they contribute in debates on Nairaland brings a diverse perspective Most Nigerians back home are myopic now to issues and the least that should be done is to appreciate them as Nigerians interested in Nigeria and not vilify them.
