Biafra Zionists Federation gives FG 48-hour ultimatum to eject troops from southeast The federal government has been given a 48-hour ultimatum to withdraw from the southeast, by the Biafra Zionists Federation - The group stated that pro-Biafra agitators would not be intimated by the show of force by the army and stated that the federal government would pay dearly for any loss of life - The group compared the federal government’s response to pro-Biafrans to how it responds to Boko Haram terrorists and Fulani herdsmen - The group insinuated that the federal government was biased in its actions A pro-Biafra group, the Biafra Zionists Federation (BZF), has given the federal government a 48-hour ultimatum to withdraw troops from the southeast region, New Telegraph reports. The group gave the ultimatum in a statement signed by its self-acclaimed President of Biafra, Barr. Benjamin Onwuka. He stated: “For sending armed soldiers to Biafra, it is political failure for them and they will pay dearly for it. “Army has nothing to do with Biafra and this intimidation will not work. “Biafra is alive; Biafra has since been recognized by the US, so it can no longer be crushed. “Our back-up is the US. “So, Buhari is wasting his time, because the Army will not stop Biafra’s independence. “Sending troops to come to intimidate us is not going to work. Any loss of life by any Biafran, whoever it is, is a great pain and regrettable, but they will pay very dearly. “I am warning them; I’m giving them 48 hours that all troops in the southeast, the southsouth and the Middle Belt, must be withdrawn immediately. They are going to pay a heavy price. “My heart goes out to all the Biafrans killed and their families. These soldiers are nothing but terrorists. “In the north, the Boko Haram and the Hausa-Fulani herdsmen are killing people in thousands. “In the middle-belt, civilians are being killed by rampaging herdsmen; how many troops have they sent there? But down here, they sent them to kill unarmed agitators. “So, it is a terrorist attack and they will definitely face war crimes when the time comes. “However, no Biafran should yield to this intimidation; they should go on and fly Biafran and Israeli flag wherever they are.” |
- The report that some soldiers from the Nigerian army attacked journalists in Abia state has not gone unheeded - The soldiers attacked journalists whom they said were filming them and destroyed their equipment - The Nigerian army has said the soldiers involved in the act will be punished adequately On Tuesday, September 12, some of the soldiers stationed in Umuahia, Abia state for the Operation Python Dance assaulted journalists whom they said were filming them. At least two journalists were reportedly attacked at the state secretariat of Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ). The journalists said the soldiers smashed their mobile phones and other electronic devices during the incident, which occurred when the soldiers were allegedly trying to barricade the residence of separatist leader, Nnamdi Kanu. In response, the army said the soldiers involved in the assault will face disciplinary actions for their “unfortunate” misconduct. Mr Oyegoke Badamosi, a spokesperson for the Nigerian Army 14 Brigade in Ohafia, said preliminary investigation has revealed that soldiers indeed launched aggression against the reporters who were on their legitimate duties. In a message posted on the Nigerian army Facebook page, he said: “The attention of 14 Brigade Nigerian Army, has been drawn to social media publications alleging that troops on patrol in Umuahia town have invaded the NUJ Press Centre in Umuahia at about 10.00am today. "While it was true there was an issue between some soldiers on routine patrol, the magnitude is not as was reported. "What happened was that while the soldiers on patrol near the Abia State NUJ Secretariat, they noticed some people filming them. "Unfortunately, they seized and damaged their recording devices; an iPad and 2 mobile phones. Preliminary investigation shows that the items belongs to journalists on their legitimate duties. Consequently, the Commander 14 Brigade and Deputy Director Army Public Relations 82 Division waded into the matter which has since been resolved amicably. In addition, the soldiers involved will face disciplinary action. The public are please requested to eschew rumour mongering and go about their lawful business.” Meanwhile, a counsel to Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), has raised an alarm saying his client’s home is currently under siege by security operatives. |

- A frontline leader of the pan-Yoruba socio-political organisation, Afenifere, Senator Femi Okurounmu has scored Buhari led administration low - He said Nigerians were disappointed by Buhari’s administration - Senator Okunronmu also noted that Buhari’s government achieved nothing in two years A frontline leader of the pan-Yoruba socio-political organisation, Afenifere, Senator Femi Okurounmu said that President Muhammadu Buhari has not achieved anything since he resumed office. He said this in an interview published by the Tribune. gathered that Senator Okunronmu said that, "By the admission of their party, APC, and those who campaigned vehemently for them before they were elected, the Buhari administration has been a letdown," he said. His government has been a disappointment. Nigerians are daily cursing the government. In my own view, the government of Buhari has not achieved anything in two years that it has been inaugurated. They have not done anything to justify that they want to run in 2019. "That is why I said in a democracy, it is the people who will decide. This is my own opinion. If Buhari wants to come back in 2019, Nigerians will decide whether to re-elect him or not." |
