Banana island was the brainchild of Late Chief Adebayo Adeleke. The grandfather of Davido. It was hijacked by Babangida after he finished reclaiming the land. This was after Maroko was hijacked from him by Lagos state government.

What we learnt Banana island wasn't the brain child of David's grand parents. That's not how it works o. Land ownership or such doesn't equate ownership.

Please educate my ignorance if I'm wrong Sir.

Wonder why Nigeria is so primitive and slow to develop? Because it is full of Nigerians. Here is an image of Banana island. The colorful skyscrapers are on the part that was developed by Lebanese. The rest of it went to Nigerian developers. See the difference?

The Lebanese built these towers almost 10 years ago. And since then, the Nigerians haven't erected anything taller than 3 stories.

Those high rise buildings are terrible. At least, you lack imagination, if - in your estimation - such monstrosities represent the work of intelligent people.

Thanks for the comment. There is still hope. But we need to hurry up before it's too late.

Lol

Finance drives projects. If there's huge financial power, projects will move. For example I have over 80 researches to produce food so massively for the country with detailed finesse blueprints with customised engineering design etc.

Tried for over 7 years to woe people to bring chips o. Ordinary chips woes I'd. It wasn't till I stopped going to people and start to push step by step it's beginning to come into form.

Nigerians want finished goods and don't want to put fingers in anything developmental

Nigerians don't embrace productivity that's just the simple truth.

Even the idea of Banana Island is monkey-ish.

This so-called "excusive real estate" that looks like a construction site a decade after its completion? Where are the grocery stores? Where is the mall?Where is the movie theatre or the Marina? There is nothing in this place to make it desirable. It would be considered a slum in the U.S. Even those Lebanese buildings that tower over your bungalows look like council flats (public housing) in the U.K.

Nigeria is a worthless country full of worthless people.
I agree with you bro, Nigeria and mediocrity are like 5 and 6.There's absolutely nothing spectacular about that place apart from the nonsense hype that it receives from villagers.
I was flabbergasted when I visited Banana Island the first time.
In other countries the place would be considered a slum just like you have rightly put it.

There was nothing like Banana island until Davido's grandfather engaged the Westminster Dredging Company to dredge the foreshore, and create six interlinked and symmetrical islands.

Every where doesn’t have to have high rise buildings. Some parts of the island has high rise buildings, some parts don’t.

No big deal.

Mike Adenuga’s house on the island is not high rise.

No need to label anyone as stupid

Exactly. Nigeria is a nation of stagnation. When you try to change things, it will be Nigerians that drag you down and frustrate you.

My dear, nor be small thing o.

Try to innovate and do things. There's a spirit of resistance that will stir your fellow Nigerians up to fight you fiercely.

Adebayo Adeleke was not Davido's grandfather.

Davido's grand dad was Senator Raji Ayoola Adeleke. He was a politician, a lawmaker during the second republic and one of Obafemi Awolowo's associates.

Maybe he was related to the engineer/real estate developer who conceived Banana island, maybe not (you'd have to ask the Adelekes to be sure). But all of you need to stop throwing inaccurate information all over the place

I absolutely agree with all what you've said except for the part you said Nigeria is a worthless country full of worthless people. which is true and not true at this same time. You forgot that Nigeria doesn't really reflect the true millions of raw talents and potentials? Back to the basic before condemning a variety of diverse ethnic groups lumped under the pseudo identity called Nigeria. Did the indigenous people forced under this amalgamation ever agreed to bear Nigeria at any point in time ? Was it not the British who just exited Europe that gave birth to this Nigeria when Lugard and Lady Shaw had their abominable intercourse? Think man, you're intelleigent. Are you that child they gave birth to which they both agree to name Nigeria does not encourage ingenuity, not even the slightest spark of genius from any tribe? Innoson and Ajaokuta ring any bells? The organization of self-cycling saidsts you all keep accepting as government continue to ruin the destinies of millions of natives trapped within this failed state, because they will always prefer to place billions of naira worth of dollars to purchase a BMW or Mercedes for all the gluttons at the senate than to go for Innoson, you feel me ? Do you know that the landless fulani arabs and their mongrelized black arabs who has operated the run and ruined this unholy amalgamation of the incompatibles, prefer to award contract to their Arab relatives from Lebanon, and various Arab countries, than to source for equally qualified natives who can do the same jobs if not better ?

Ever sat down to think why do natives here usually get to do great exploits in science and technology, attain great height and become genius when they travel out or live abroad , but are rarely found here?

Nigeria, (a so-called country whom the colonial British bequeathed to the non-negroid, landless, fulanis and their mongrelized black arab descendants in order to render the indigenous populace unprogressive and underdeveloped) prefers to spend budgeted money meant to procure things to be used by the same government that campaigned people should buy made in zoogeria goods only to have theirs imported from foreign country. The government believes a Igbo or Ijaw or Yoruba marine biologist engineer doctor geologist is incompetent and only a foreigner can deliver.

Until you start considering that Nigeria is a mere geographic expression on a map born out of British experiment where the capables are been ruled and dominated by the incapables, where square pegs are always fixed into round holes. Where the landless fulani black arabs continue to ensure the backwardness of the amalgamation is maintained in compliant with the jihadist agenda of their great grandfather usman Dan Fodio. Yoruba men just chased fulani baztards off a remote site in their ancestral land of Ibadan where raw and pure gold is been extracted, mined, washed, processed and stolen away for decades, the landless fulani black arabs only exist to enslave and destroy the native indigenous people while their resources is used to enrich and sustain the emirate caliphate of the north and how dare you expect a standard skyscraper structure to be erected in such a grotesque country governed with unfairness and injustice by sickos and mujahideens. Be real.

please don't try to remember those tall buildings are mostly empty with the developers still in debt.....the Nigerian developers who don't like stress built what they know they can sell off easily......but feel free to go erect your own skyscraper as long as you can hold it down financially

Who developed it? LEBANESE. Who did the sand-filling? CHINESE. Who contracted the roads? GERMANS. You Nigerians are just the consumers. All you do is consume, consume, consume. You produce nothing.
who in the state government signed of on the creation of the island? who in the ministry of lands and housing went through the plans for the island and handled monitoring during its construction? who is collecting land charges and taxes from those buildings? whose banks financed the construction of those buikdings? i don't know about you but I believe the answer is Nigerians......try not to sell you and your people short.
