I appreciate the fintech guys that strictly provide a platform that makes it easier and possible for ordinary people to purchase stocks and invest money with established fund managers. I however have my reservations on the ones that claim they can invest your money for you and guarantee out of the world returns.

All it takes is for these guys to run out of cash and boom, premium tears lipsrsealed.

I repeat and mark my words. At least one of these guys will go bust in the near future. I have a good idea of which one will go bust first but I wouldn’t mention it for obvious reasons.

I think this issue has been brought up b4 and if i remember correctly u quoted them saying they invested in 30yr treasury bill and you asked a very valid question: why didnt AIICO who manages their (piggyvest) funds start their own investment platform directly instead of manging for a third party (something like that).

The koko for me is (a) SEC regulation (b) public finanvial records (c) historical performance (d) cjaracter of managment.

But is it possible that they would be offering high interest rate in a low interest environment without SEC wanting to inquire about their operations?

I belive that people investing don carry out their DD sha. One thing about investing is knowing your risk appetite and investing in what you know.

Afterall person buy NFT for $69m. grin

lol....which one dey burst again oooo I've been reading some of your comments though and I feel you kind of have little reservations about fintech companies in all... (Piggyvest and risevest).... I can vouch for the former., though, I'm trading on the latter though.... They are very reliable I must say. Hard earned money put into these firms needs to be carried out with due dilligence... They are very reliable and they are low-risk investment platforms...

Very important to understand what you are investing in, how the company makes money, who are the customers of the company, risk management of the company, track records of the company, sustainability of returns from the company, security of the Investments in the company, financials of the company, information about the funds under management through their fact sheet.

Why won't it appear as common sense after it has happened. Something that some so called investors were even predicting a second crash around March. Even my own favourite YouTuber was preaching sell sell. I know of 2 popular Twitter guys that deactivated their accounts because none of what they predicted happened.

How is it common sense when prediction didn't match reality?

You are right that it appears as common sense when you reflect back. Thats the stock market for you. Like nature it is a respecter of no person. Yet like nature it is giverened by laws which influence prices. E.g when you have a rising dollar,(or bitcoin in more recent times) you have a declining gold price, or when oil invetories rise, oil price falls.

The stock market has always been disjointed from the economy because investors are moving capital from the present to the future. So they price in the future implications first. Thats the reason you didnt see a market sell off when they were rioting in the capitol.

Though its not easy as you say, because human emotions drive actions rather than logic. but if you look carefully there are patterns you can notice. For example the NSE performs badly in election years (i stand to be corrected).

Saying the bolded is like saying "a company will go burst in the near future". That's like saying nothing because any company can fail.

From experience, I don't know of any 100% safe way of making money. Even if you decide to build houses, it can get burnt down during crises. You are into importation? You might fall into the hands of BEC scammers or container sink. You are running and managing your own company? The CFO yahoo boys are there too. Even if you decide to leave your money in the bank, it still has its own risk. The list is endless.

Some people focus only on these negative sides and end up putting a ceiling on their financial growth.

What we should be concerned about is if the company we are investing in is "legit" not if the company is "paying". The later is mostly used for Ponzi schemes.

Fintechs don't target young people - We are in the technology age and most advanced people are not tech savvy.

How long do people do something successfully before you consider them to be "Experienced" at it? cos some of these fintechs had been managing peoples funds successfully for years without shifting the goal post like Ponzi schemes do.

Your post below says alot about your thinking. You see bond, tbills and even NSE as something wey go burst in the future but people have been making millions/billions from these investment.

For Nigerian securities, NSE is the only one I will never touch with my own money and I have good reasons cool

You are the one that had issues with their experience not me. I'm cool with their performance.

If you had read my post well you would see where I asked how long a company had to operate successfully before you consider them to be experienced.

From my own personal experience, there is an atom of Ponzi and risk in almost every investment.

A friend saw how successful my business is, he wanted to learn so I thought him everything. But his fears was what if container go sink? What if I go pay into wrong account details?? His fears never made him practice what I took time to teach him. His fears made him forgot I have been doing this successfully for years and has made so much money from it.

A company failing is not the same as a ‘fund manager’ going bust with investors and depositors funds. It is a big deal when a fund manager goes bust o and is not something that happens everyday.

But I understand your point though. I am not trying to scare anyone. I just gave my opinion which I believe I’m entitled to. For me, I would rather give my hard earned money to experienced and reputable fund managers even if I have to forgo the extra returns that the fintech guys are ‘guaranteeing’. I am not greedy. Very content cool.

Also, I like to sleep well at night. So I am happy to forego the gains in cry.ptos and investments that I do not understand. So I will continue to be skeptical of those investments smiley

But I am happy for those that are cleaning out on these same investments that I prefer to avoid. Make una enjoy wink

The security of the fund, information about the fund, transparency about the operation of the fund are equally important
