Mr Fashola said the Lagos-Badagry expressway had not been forgotten.
By Agency Report
The Minister of Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola, has assured that the ongoing Lagos-Badagry Expressway rehabilitation/reconstruction project was not forgotten but on the 2021 Sukuk funding priority list.

Mr Fashola gave the assurance in Lagos on Saturday during an inspection tour of road projects in the state.

He said that major drainage works were ongoing and progressing to upgrade the highway from its old status to ensure durable construction, saying that funding challenges were being resolved.

“Lagos-Badagry Expressway is the real challenge. Again it is funding.

“We are owing the contractor. That is why I said if we can expand the Sukuk this year, we are going to look at a few more roads to add into it.

“If we succeed Lagos-Badagry Expressway is one of the top roads we are pencilling down for the Sukuk in 2021.

“If that happens, then the contractor will do his work but I think it is important to help us communicate to the people who use that axis that they are not forgotten.

“Work has started. There was a time when there was no contractor there, so, there is now a contractor,’’ Mr Fashola said.

According to him, that is the first step to progress to show that they are not forgotten.

He said the road was now a superhighway due to development on the axis, hence the diligence to ensure quality durable construction with adequate drainage channels.

Speaking on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, the minister said that about 85km had been completed out of the 127km project being funded by the Presidential Infrastructure Development Fund.

Commenting on the Lagos-Ota-Abeokuta Expressway, he explained that the highway was recording accelerated construction because of the Sukuk funding.

Badagry Road is international Road that can link one to Benin Republic, Togo and some West African country. What is taking the government to give the road a befitting construction? Road infrastructures is one key for national developments. Government should be upto their responsibility enough of game shifting blame..

This man is the only one competent enough in the PoliticalSpace of this country to deliver development in Nigeria as President

Any other person would most likely fail

He as a Muslim would appeal to the North, and his vice would have to be a Northern Christian, let's diffuse this irrelevant Religious and ethnic noise everywhere

Plus we need Presido wey fit speak better Enhlish small, Buhari na waste of Space

That state of that road is embarrassing.
You'll be traveling from Ghana to Nigeria. You leave Ghana, traverse Togo, traverse the Republic of Benin and you see no potholes on their international routes.
Then you enter Nigeria... I won't say you're going to see many potholes on the Lagos-Badagry international route. I'll rather say you'll see few roads on the pothole.
It's so embarrassing that when your Ghanaian and other West African friends with you ask you if this is Nigeria, you feel tempted to say "No, it's Biafra".

I just hope the road would be fixed as soon as possible and before the end of this administration because commuters plying that road are not interested in excuses.
