Mele Kyari: NNPC To Construct Africa's Largest Gas-Powered Plant In Maiduguri by Ladumaa(op): 2:09am On Apr 10, 2021
From Timothy Olanrewaju, Maiduguri

The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) has said it will build a gas-powered plant in Maiduguri, Borno State to address challenges in electricity supply to the area caused by incessant Boko Haram attacks

NNPC Group Managing Director (GMD), Mr. Mele Kyari disclosed this on Friday during a courtesy visit to the Borno governor at the Maiduguri Government House.

Mele who led other officials of the corporation, said such project was in line with the president’s cardinal principle to deepen gas consumption in the country.

“Mr. President has declared this year a decade of gas. This means for the next 10 years, there will be significant gas entry into the north..So as a result of the challenges of power supply, in the state we saw the opportunity of supporting Borno State,” he said.

He said the NNPC and its partners have discussed and decided to establish a dedicated power plant in Maiduguri to “serve the current need and potential supply of gas power to neigbouring cities and border countries like Niger republic.”

The state Governor, Babagana Zulum said the visit of NNPC and its partners can change the entire narrative of the state.

“Power is very essential. With power, we can reduce the magnitude of insurgency in the state,” he said. He commended the GMD for the various reforms he introduced at the NNPC.

Our government is truly clueless. How can you be building a gas installation in a place that's overrun with insurgency? Anyway, another waste of resources is uploading

Where are the 'our oyel-ians'? They will use your oil to develop Maiduguri like they used it to develop Lagos and Abuja. But unfortunately, some of you think Igbos are your problem

grin grin Resources from the south keep getting used to develop the north that contribute nothing tangible to the country, may thunder continue to strike Lugard's skeletons for establishing this fraud.

Words can't describe how much I hate Nigeria. 85% of Nigeria's economic output is in Lagos, but these braindead apes want to build the worlds largest gas plant in Maidugurihuh The power would yield more productivity in Lagos, PH or Onitsha.

...and potential supply of gas power to neigbouring cities and border countries like Niger republic...

The impunity with which nigeria is being raped is angering

People need to wake up

Is there any gas power supply in the Niger delta?

But Dangote has gas pipelines powering his factory in the north

Unfortunately, there's nothing they can do about it. Coming from a minority is something nobody should ever wish for. The majority will take you for granted and there's nothing you can do about it.

post=100656018]Nice.
Children of hate, frustrations and perdition did not ask their thieving lords in all the 16 wasted years of looting where are the Gas powered plants they constructed in their villages and states when they were in power.
They rather loot all the money for themselves and families, But see them wailing like winches all over.
Shameless lots with collective amnesia.

They say Buhari is vindictive..., but no state or region has been denied their share of development projects irrespective of whether they support PMB government or not.
He has taken 13 BILLION water project to otuoke in GEJs village Bayelsa.
N22 BILLION road to Atikus village in Adamawa, reconstruction of Lagos Abeokuta expressway to OBJs state, the 2nd Niger Bridge etc to the east, the massive investment and redevelopment of the Niger-Delta etc are part of the proof of PMBs fairness to all

Why is everything going up north?......even with the level of insecurity there........Buhari keeps proving to everyone he is the president of the northern Nigeria......but when you spoon a child for a long time......he or she becomes docile......it was quota system that crippled their educational background and yet the government thinks bringing everything down to their door step will make them buckle up......I laugh in Chinese

The North needs this type of development in reality. Let's either support development in all parts of the Country or divide peacefully, no need to keep dragging ourselves.

Who goes to Maiduguri except Maidugurians? It's okay, construct it there so you can serve the North and your homeland country of Niger. The day of reckoning will come

Where will the gas be coming from? This administration is plain stupid. The insane amount of money it will cost to lay pipe from South to far North will be enough to establish very big solar system in same North and it will forever solve their power issues.

The the South can use gas from oil rigs that are flared.
.
Who advises these people

I don't even know what to say. Of what economic value is maiduguri? Anyway, the North knows one day we will all separate..so they want to take all they can. I blame the Niger Deltans...Guess what, they won't even react to this news. Or they might not even know the money and gas is coming from their region

Gas powered plant in Borno State with the insurgency is a misplaced priority and hazardous to those who resides nearby.

Another means of generating electricity Should have been sought for Borno.

Blowing it up at will won't be hard for BH
