U used the wrong option
Try paying with international transfer in USD
That way you will
Be charged with CBN rate, that’s for form A though

When u pay in local currency that’s where they rip you off

Then if it is Form A, then it has to deal with my bank and their help, right?

Do you know about it please?

Kkddyit:

You can generate an invoice from the school via flywire and take it to your bank to fill a form A. Please note that this largely depends on the availability of funds as supplied by the CBN. The current rate is between 411 and 412. Alternatively, you may want to pay directly using your dom account but the rate will be way higher than the CBN rate above.

Best of luck

Yes my bank told me to ask the school (Algonquin College), for invoice in USD, since First bank doesn't have CAD, the school wote back to me saying they can't give invoice in CAD.

what do i do now?

The form A will take how many days?

And how did you paid yours?

Good morning,

My application is over 2 months old and my eligibility review has not started. I also didn’t get NSE request although I submitted IELTS with my application. What could be the issue?

I had almost the same experience though I was sent NSe request, my eligibility didn't start over like 2 months... I believe it would have started maybe they forgot to update it. It was until I sent them mail saying my eligibility hasn't started, they updated it that day.. it will end in praise

But now I have a small issue nairaland. In the PPR, they noted my passport must be valid for the duration of your expected length of stay in Canada.
• Please note that we cannot issue a visa beyond the expiry date on the passport.

My passport is to expire on the 2nd of March 2022. And my expected stay in August ending 2022. Please what should I do?

My deadline for payment is 30th of this month.

Your application is still young so all you need to find out is the standard time for processing, if its within the time line, you have to relax. If you send a webform or mail and you are still within the timeline, they wont reply you.

You should get an NSE for MBS(mybankstatement) certificate only then unless you have already submitted it or they find the 6months you submitted okay.

Therefore there's no issue. You just have to be patient
Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 18 by ooa1st: 8:40am On Apr 15, 2021
Hello,

Just get an invoice from the school stating your details and also get the school wire details, irrespective of the currency the invoice is denominated, the bank will always do a cross rate to determine the equivalent CAD/USD required for the transaction.

Also, I feel First bank trade in CAD also, they have a corresponding bank in Montreal(info I got). Note I said corresponding bank not a branch or an outlet.

Thanks

Thank you for clarification.

You know any college that approved for PGWP?

TundeTheHunter:
They have a DLI number but they are not approved for Post Graduate Work Permit. Having a DLI number allows CIMT to accept international students for various programs. But those students will not be able to apply for a work permit after completing their studies. Please check this link: https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/study-canada/study-permit/prepare/designated-learning-institutions-list.html

Have you tried to generate invoice via Western union global pay on your school portal?. The fund will be converted to USD. You will take the slip with your admission details and passport to bank.

I don't know of now, I paid via this method 6 months ago using access bank.

What about someone with 2.6/5 b.tech computer science.

Pls recommend colleges that offer courses in computer science

Lekiboboe:

If you were not able to secure a PG. Cert program with your CGPA from a college, I seriously doubt if you can get admission from a University, so in a nutshell, a college is still your only option.

Though a 3rd class CGPA less than 2.0 is very low, but there is a way you can boost your admission chances (though it's 50/50), but has worked for some people I know and they got admission (PACKAGING), and interestingly most colleges in Ontario don't mention CGPA in their Admission Requirements.

Now take you time and go through the content in the two links below & leverage on it

Possible Solution/Way for a 3rd class Graduate to get Admission for a PG. Cert program in a College

https://www.nairaland.com/5818588/canadian-student-visa-thread-part/700#97090650

Note: This is 50/50 (no assurance) but has worked for some people I know, cos I know you gonna be paying application fee/fees for this admission, so it's more like a calculated risk

See the link below for schools PGC programs in Accounting & Financial Planning, do a good search and do the necessary research on them (admission requirement, course outlines, tuition amount for international students etc.) apply to the one that suites you

Cost of studies should be your 1 year tuition, same with room and board.
Funds available for stay is the total that will be made available for your first year tuition and living expenses ( which you've shown in BS or whatever way)
I stand to be corrected
TennieYF:
Please for the IMM1294 form, there's a part that asked for cost of studies, Tuition, room and board and funds available for my stay.
For the tuition part, is it 1 year tuition or 2 years tuition. Same as for room and board.

Please I would appreciate a response on this, thank you.

Please is it okay if a high school graduate apply for one year pre science certificate course?

Is it a progression ? Or is not advisable please help !!
Lekiboboe:

With an HND , your friends best shot is to apply for a Post Graduate Certificate (PG. Cert) program in a Physics & Electronics related area

He should take his time and google the following
PG. Cert programs related to Physics and Electronics below explicitly and choose one or two that suites him base on his Academic Background & Experience in PHYSICS & ELECTRONICS

Conestoga College, Ontario
- Embedded Systems Development (Optional Co-op) (2 years PGC-Post Graduate Certificate Program)

Fanshawe College, Ontario
PGC, Electronics and Embedded Systems Development

Fleming College, Ontario
PGC Mechatronics

PG. Cert, Applied Electrical Motion and Control Management
Conestoga College, Ontario

PG. Cert, Applied Energy Management
Conestoga College, Ontario

Finally, your friend needs to work on his Admission Preparation before he submit his application owing to his LOWER CREDIT,
the reason he needs to do this is so he can boost his Admission chances despite having a LOWER CREDIT.

To boost his admission chances, he should take his time and go through everything inside the link below, and put it to use when he wants to apply

There are many colleges that have PGWP eligible programs. Most of the popular ones do. These are the ones that I know off the top of my head.
1. Langara College, Vancouver, British Columbia
2. Okanagan College, Kelowna, British Columbia
3. Camosun College
4. Vancouver Community College
5. Nova Scotia Community College
6. St. Clair College, Windsor, Ontario

But you can use the link I posted in my last post to search colleges by the different provinces

There is no direct Computer Science course in Colleges, they only have specialized PG courses cos Computer Science is wide

So what area of Computer Science are you looking for? - Networking, Cyber security, Data Analytics, Software Development etc.

You don't need to wait for 6mths. It is called migration. My old passport will expire by August 2022 and I did a renewal in Feb 2021. And the old one was destroyed
You will pay about 5k extra for the migration process plus the amount you will get a new passport . Did mine at Ikoyi passport office
If you don't have time on your side, when you get to Canada you can renew it.

MsJanez01:

Hi. Congratulations. Please when did u apply?

Aspa your passport expiration, from my little understanding... you can't apply for a renewal until you passport is 6months to expiration. If you must, I understand u must go to Abuja and currently booklets are not available. I know someone that has been waiting for passport renewal for a month now. So like someone advised, renew ur passport and permit in Canada.

Thank you
Most of the Masters programs starting in the fall close admission around January - March on average. PGDs and PGCs usually close admission around that same time or will still take applicants later on, as long as they still have remaining seats for the program.

However, you should check the website of whichever school you want to apply to. Or send them an email enquiring about their admission deadline.
