The president of the Nigeria Football Federation and Fifa Council member, Amaju Pinnick, has expressed his delight over Nigeria's hosting of the Aisha Buhari Six- Nation Football Tournament.

The six top African football playing nations already confirmed for the Invitational tournament scheduled for September 2021, include; host Nigeria, Cameroon, South Africa, Mali, Morocco, and Ghana.

According to the president of the NFF, Nigeria's First Lady, Aisha Buhari, has endorsed the championship, which is one of the programmes aimed at uplifting the girl/child in the continent.

The Six Nation Invitational is Amaju Pinnick's direct effect of being elected as FIFA COUNCIL member.

Lagos, which is now the new hub of football excellence in Nigeria, will host the 10-day event, with all its aquatic and tourism splendour.

These top five African women football nations that will join host Nigeria, have confirmed their participation in the tournament.

The tournament which is a direct effect of Amaju Pinnick's election into the FIFA Council as Africa's representative, would witness other activations to sensitise African women on the benefits of sports to national development and other issues affecting women in developing countries with direct reference to the place of the girl/child in our society.

The NFF president disclosed that, the Aisha Buhari Six Nation Women's Tournament would among other things be a festival of women football with some of the biggest names in world soccer expected to be in Nigeria to witness the games and also participate in some of the events lined-up to celebrate the girl child.

Apart from the display of soccer artistry on the pitch, there will be other activations to sensitise Africans on the benefits of sports to national development. It will address issues affecting women in developing countries with direct reference to the place of the girl/child in the African continent.

Austin, Texas – Q2 Stadium, the state-of-the-art, 20,500-seat home of Austin FC, announced today that it will host the reigning FIFA Women’s World Cup Champion U.S. Women’s National Team (USWNT) in an exhibition match against Nigeria on Wednesday, June 16, at 8:00pm CDT, as part of the 2021 WNT Summer Series. The USWNT match versus Nigeria will be the first-ever match to be played at Q2 Stadium, the $260 million, privately-financed soccer stadium in Austin. The match, which will be nationally televised on ESPN2, marks the debut of U.S. Soccer’s senior team in the capital city as neither the USWNT nor U.S. Men’s National Team have previously staged a match in Austin.

The USA’s three games of the Summer Series begin with a match against Portugal on June 10 in Houston (broadcast on FS1 begins at 7 p.m. CT with kick-off at 7:30 p.m. CT / 8:30 p.m. ET), followed by a meeting with Jamaica on June 13 (9 p.m. CT / 10 pm ET on FS1), also at BBVA Stadium, before traveling to Austin to face Nigeria on June 16 (8 p.m. CT / 9 p.m. ET on ESPN2).



The match in Austin at the home of Major League Soccer’s newest club, Austin FC, will be the first soccer game at the brand new, state-of-the-art, 20,500 seat Q2 Stadium. Three nights later on June 19, Austin FC will play its first MLS match at home.

U.S. Soccer previously staged the Tournament of Nations during this summer period in 2017 and 2018 and had planned to hold the tournament during non-Olympic and non-World Cup years. Due to FIFA changing the international match window in June from a three-match window to a two-match window starting in 2022, the competition will no longer be able to be held.



In addition, the June FIFA international match window for 2021 has already changed to a two-match opportunity for European teams, meaning that the format of the Summer Series will feature the USA and Nigeria playing three matches while Portugal and Jamaica will play two. No standings will be kept and all matches will be treated as friendlies.

Doesn't really matter here, it's just a friendly game which will help both teams... Let's hope Coach Randy Waldrum present a good Squad for us and doesn't do much of player's tryouts..He can possibly do that at the 6 Nations Tournament we're hosting in September where I would love to see most of the Home based player's he Scouted out at the recent super 6 tournament in Ijebu Ode!
