The terrorist attacked the strategic border town 23 April 2021 destroying three communications masts and looting some shops in the process. However, troops stationed at the town supported by the Air Component of OPLD mounted a hot pursuit and closed up with the terrorists killing 21 of them in the process. The gallant troops successfully recovered a gun truck with an anti aircraft gun mounted on it, eight AK 47 rifles with ten magazines as well as two Rocket Propelled Grenade Bombs and five chargers. Other items recovered are; over a thousand rounds of different calibres of ammunition, one Commando Mortar Tube, 3 IED blasting devices, tool boxes, communication radios and cell phones among several other items of value. The only setbacks on the side of the troops were the injuries sustained by 3 soldiers who were in stable conditions and receiving medical attention in a military facility. The Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Lieutenant General Ibrahim Attahiru congratulated the Theatre Commander and troops of OPLD including the Air Component for this great achievement. The COAS restated the commitment of the Nigerian Army under his leadership to ending terrorism and all violent crimes in the North East and other parts of the country. He further enjoined the troops to sustain the ongoing offensive under Operation Tura Takaibango until this noble goal is attained. Imo state that is a hotspot for recreational activities will soon become another Borno story if care isn't taken. I don't know why Kanu isn't formenting trouble in his own state. |

With the elimination of ipob's second in command, there will multiple attacks at different areas of South east as from tomorrow. The best strategy for the security agents is to have UAVs on standby that can go more than 125km in range which would quickly respond to attacks of these guys to detect while they're carrying out their operation and track them on time when withdrawing back to their different hideouts. |

youghs:How many uav have they deployed against boko people to track them and their operation and when retreating...? Your advice is good though but this is Nigeria and all those that would die have already been written and sealed....my concern is just to their families cos they would have to drag to get the compensation package again after the death of their loved ones...!! |

One thing to take away from the Geidam attack is that ISWAP now has a good strategy to evade airstrikes when attacking towns. Once the Gan access to the town, they guarantee the local population safety and make them see no reason to flee. Moving around in a town alongside the locals will ensure that no bomb, rocket and cannons are used. It is now up to NA to prevent the terrorists from entering populated towns. It is up to NAF to ensure that air support are delivered far more timely than before to ensure the destruction of the terrorists while the garrisons are still holding them outside the town. Perhaps it's time DHQ involves another division in this war alongside 7 division. Maybe 3 division or 2 division that has other divisions very close to them to fill in for them while they are away in the north east. And also, there will most likely be another attack between now and Tuesday. It could be Damasak or Dikwa and any other town to loot the armory that will eventually be used to attack Damasak. As we are now in the second half of Ramadan, the attacks will be more frequent, they will get bolder and deploy more numbers. They vowed to celebrate sallah in Damasak and there will be a lot of pressure on their leaders to deliver on that promise. Also, if the troops of the supercamps will just sit in their supercamps and defend that instead of the town, then we might as well start closing the camps down and sending the soldiers back to their barracks. The super camps in any town should be able to defend the town on all flanks. Not defending the super camp. There is need for an additional layer of trench in all these towns. Between the first layer of trench and the second, the troops can hold them there until air support arrives. When the terrorists move past the first layer, they will only have one route to escape through and if they've moved too far away from the exit point, they will be forced out abandon vehicles when escaping. Also, barricades should be deployed on strategic routes within the town that will funnel the terrorists to choke points where they can be held or at least slow them down for the airforce to pick up. The choke points will be so narrow that they will only be able to use one or two guntrucks at a time and the rest will be lined up behind those in front. Strategic roads should be cut and dug so that they can only be plied with the use of pontoon bridges or anything else that can serve that purpose and is very mobile without which an advancing enemy will be stopped or forced to turn back. This should be especially used on roads leading to armouries and other important buildings. |

Whyem15:You’ve said it all. A week to the Sallah festivity I’m off to Maiduguri. The method of defending just supercamps and leaving ISWAP to have a field day in the host community remains a slap on our armed forces. Tho ISWAP never tried this when our Neighboring Soldiers were around, well they knew it will result In an open shootout ![]() Good Morning great Patriots ![]() |

SamuelAnyawu:Good advice; the best time to leave is now, the second best time is by the end of the month. The last 10 days of Ramadan may be very bloody. I don't know much about the civil-military relationships in the northeast but one of the things that makes military abandon civilians is if the civilians have refused to cooperate with the military or are sabotaging the military's effort or are cooperating with the enemy. The first responsibility of any officer is to protect his troops and in any of the above scenarios, a good officer will rather opt to protect his troops. The governor should work with the military command in the state to improve relationships and how the military and civilians can benefit from each other. The people should know that when they help the military, their town will never fall. This I think distinguish towns in Southern Borno and yobe from those of Central Borno. |

jpphilips:Nigeria sent troops to, yes, to smaller countries. it's like Mexico and Canada deploying to US because there's crises. Nigeria, IMO is bigger than AU. let me rephrase the statement ' if Nigeria cannot allow US soldiers in the fight, do you think she will allow AU to deploy beyond her boundaries. even the MNJTF were only allowed based on mutual agreement. |

Sizzorkay:Mention one AU intervention where a permanent member of the UNSC has interest without the later's ratification, just one!! Don't just assume things, it is not possible for the AU to set out against French interest in Africa, it has never happened. OBJ reluctantly signed the Green tree agreement with Cameroon at the behest of France at a time the former was the AU chairman, why did OBJ not use AU machinery against France? |

iboboyswag:They brought it upon themselves, Anglophones won't give a damn about them. PAN African movement was the Bulwark of Anglophone independence, with reasonable Francophone participation at the onset. The PAN African strategy was negotiating independence as a block against stronger colonial powers. 2nd World war presented an opportunity for PAN African consortium because the Royal Navy was stretched thin, Paris fell to Hitler, while a new power broker US emerged, France at the weakest made promises to them some of them pulled out from PAN Africa, some like Algeria & Morocco fought France at her weakest and broke out. PAN Africa later became successful with Britain pulling out without conditions, France did likewise but held on to their independence agreements till she consolidated power, joined the UNSC & NATO handed them the pacté cólónie agreement (independence tax) at gun point. If they remained with PAN Africa fully, the later will reject that deal then present a fighting chance for members at the weakest points of the adversary. Guinea under Toure Conte was courageous enough to reject the deal, France burned the country to the ground, that sent a message of fear to others, every other attempt to pull out of that agreement has been met with French sponsored assassinations. |

iboboyswag:Why should all Africans have that discussion? the 14 slave states of Africa should go sort themselves out, even Anglophone Africans that got the best independence deal in the world, do their present generation appreciate the good works of their heroes past? Don't you hear demented groups like IPOB, Arewa & Oduduwa mad people? Do they know what it takes to get a fully independent African state? |

Sizzorkay:You are just confused, just an advise, discuss things you know, leave the rest alone, talking directionless isn't smart. Why will a regional block you don't belong to, no membership obligations, no security agreement just wake up & help you? does it sound smart to you? why will Ecowas give a fvck about Chad? |
