christistruth01: You omitted Ijeshas and Ekitis. There are also Ijesha and Ekiti settlements in Lagos. Honestly, a lot of Yoruba settlements kind of moved around. Ibadan for example was historically an Egba town until it was sacked by the Ijebu-Ife alliance during the Ijebu-Ife vs Owu war. And the Egbas moved down to establish a new settlement in Abeokuta. Owus also moved down to where they're today after their towns were sacked by Ijebu-Ife. 6 Likes |

Idiko1: There's no revisionism there. The only gaffe is the date. I stated that it was 1830, which was the year I saw in Samuel Johnson's book. But it seems it happened in 1835 based on new research. Check the pictures below 3 Likes

christistruth01: You're right. Another interesting thing about those periods is that while some Yorubas were fighting Fulanis in the North, others were fighting among themselves in the South. So it begs the question: have Yorubas ever fought a war against any opposing group as one? I'd like to know if there is any because a combined Yoruba forces going against anyone would be crazy. 2 Likes |

oyatz: I won't call them superb administrators. They're the masters of deceit who had religion, which is the opiate of the masses, at their disposal. So it was easy for them to use the brainwashing tool to galvanize religious people. However, they lost most of those wars and offered little or no resistance to the colonizers when they came although they were able to use that to make the colonizers install emirs in places where they were defeated. Apart from Hausas, and parts of Nupes, they didn't really do much. 4 Likes |

TheLionofLasigi:Every Yoruba man by default blames Ndi Igbo for everything. You guys destroyed Lagos during EndSars and blamed Ndi Igbo. Ijaw was president but the hatred was on Ndi Igbo. SS/SE refused to protest during the Occupy Nigeria protest but it was Ndi Igbo that received the hatred. You looted Igbo shops during the Endxenaphobia protest in Lagos and still blamed Ndi Igbo. Fulani killed Afenifere daughter, Tinubu, Yoruba's hero blamed Ndi Igbo. Yoruba killed innocent Hausas in Sasa and said Ndi Igbo instigated them. Una go still blame Ndi Igbo for Tinubu losing the presidency. A Yoruba man is the Governor of Kwara, what stops him from systematically reclaiming Illorin for Yorubas? I guess Igbos again? 3 Likes 1 Share |

theTranslator1:Because Ibadan was trying to force Yorubaness down their throat. How many times have igbo, Ijaws, Binis, Igalas and Hausas fight themselves on scale the so-called Yorubas did? You'll rarely see it in history because they are ONE ETHNIC. Oyo, Ekiti, Aworis, Ijebus, Ugbo, Ilajes are a different ethnic group and that's why OYO was named an empire. If not history, would have recognized OYO as just a kingdom. You can only be an empire when other kingdoms are invloved. |

Adam al-Ilory was born in the province ofJugu, the headquarter of Barba tribe in the city of Wasa, northern region of the republic of Benin, to a Beninese mother and a Nigerian father of Yoruba ethnicity I wonder why yorubas would allow a non Yoruba tell them their history, they must be even more lost than I thought |

NwaAro:Ilorin is still Yoruba land. The emir is half Yoruba half Fulani who does not even understand his Fulani language, the Issue of Ilorin became a religious issue between the Yoruba Religion and the Islam religion so you now have Yorubas who resisted Yorubas because of the are Muslims, also Ilorin is what it is today because of Nigeria, so there are politics involved too, where they bribe some greedy Yorubas who act as antagonists for the Yoruba conplete take over of Ilorin. But no matter the Fulani game, Yorubas will still completely take charge of that land but the Emir will not ge abolished or stopped because Ilorin will be Yoruba Mecca so their Emirate will emulate that of Saudi Arabia, Qatar and other properly and develop Muslim countries around the world. Fulanis that were born in Ilorin and have more than 2 generations there shall continue to live in Ilorin Provided they behave civilised anyways we can see that Fulanis that have mixed Yorubas are more refined. 1 Like |
