These are known as "soft Keys" (system buttons or on screen shortcuts)similar to function keys on a typical keyboard (the "F" keys).

They are usually used as a short cut.

In the case of your remote, these coloured buttons are usually used by your installer when setting up ur decoder.

It gets to a stage where the instruction will read something like:

To continue, press yellow
To switch press blue E.T.C.

They are called Buhari buttons. No matter how you press them you won't get results.

It works for my explora decorder back then. When watching movies or TV on Explora decorder, i used it for play, pause, record etc whenever the Explora decorder is not around me.

They're not for fashion o. Those buttons perform specific tasks like after reading a message in your gotv decoder, pressing the red button deletes it. Another one restores the message why some are for other factory defined uses.

The ones on my TV have special functions like I hold one (green button) down when turning on my TV to reset it and to get it ready for upgrade.
