It’s all good. I work with international brands too.

We do collaborate on projects. I’ve once worked with Wickes to design 5 kitchen cabinet for a multi-dwelling project here in Nigeria.

Nice one. How did that go. Did they build the cabinets, and import for it to be assembled by Nigerians?

That’s exactly what we did.

I sent them the as-built floor plan. They designed the cabinets and shared the cabinet plan with me and the client. We approved and the cabinets were shipped down to Nigeria and assembled by locals.

Everything came with assembly instruction.

We are yet to determine this. However, I shared a post on how to calculate the size of tank required per household.

I believe you’ll find it very useful.

Here’s the link to the post: https://www.kobocity.com/d/6-calculating-volume-of-water-required-per-person
please which is better one (1) 10,000 liter water tank or two (2) 5,000 liter tanks supposing space is not an constraint.

I’ll do two (2) 5,000 liters tank instead of a single 10,000 liters.

The time it takes to fill up a 10000 liter is more and the risk of failure is higher.

Our client specifically requested for a weathertight, maintenance-free flat roof solution.

In this regard we are considering a custom-built weatherproof fiberglass reinforced gutter design for our roof gutter.

Well done bro. I have a question - I'm also doing a similar build at about the same stage, but I didn't see a steel/fabricated gutter in my engineer's quote. It seems what he's doing is just a concrete gutter that will be firmly waterproofed. Is this good?

Yes, it is very good. He just need to pay attention to the design of the roof gutter.

There are things we get wrong when constructing roof gutters.

Below are some good examples:

Pic 1: Using block instead of upstand Beam for the parapet wall can cause seepage which will eventually lead to leakage.

Pic 2: Having a very low upstand beam can also call seepage if the wall is not well protected.

Pic 3: Having a very low upstand beam at the end of the gutter can also cause failure when there’s heavy rainfall. The drain size also matters a lot.

Pic 4: Roof gutter poorly designed.

The above post is to educate those who think flat roof is bad or cheap.

Often times, we always have issues with the design of the flat roof. The roof style is not bad when done right.

When asked this similar question about 6 years ago, here’s my response:

brabus:

Yes but when I can do this is what I don't know. Why you may want to ask?

This is because the key to NextHomes' business model's success is in the attention to the details, creative outsourcing and collaboration. However, can I guarantee the same level of quality if a client's job is delegated? No! One person cannot possibly generate the amount of bandwidth the NextHome business model requires – I need help to serve all your needs.

Until I'm able to replicate as many Brabus as NextHome requires, our services will be limited to only clients within 3 - 5km radius of our Lekki Office.

However, if time-to-deliver is not of essence, then we game grin grin Otherwise, I'll simply let this pass!

Saying NO is never easy, but it is necessary at this moment as we are trying to maintain a high level of quality in all of our engagements. Saying YES to a client, and then doing a bad job due to lack of interest or time, is much, much worse in the long run than just saying NO.

Thank you for your interest in our service.

Update: For now, our services is limited to the following locations (Lekki • Ibeju • Epe • Ajah • Abeokuta • Ijebu Ode • Arepo/Magboro/Isheri • Oshodi/Isolo • Victoria Island • Ikoyi • Ikeja • Ibadan) only.

I know in coming days my client will reveal himself to the platform and share his experience with us on this journey. His understanding and maturity really helped us on this build.

The designs are pretty easy but an average builder might miss all the details badly if he’s coming with a conventional mindset.

Even a certified QS miss it in his estimate/bill for framing. My client don’t know this yet but I’d share all the learnings and all the critical nodes later on this thread

A builder and an architect building a similar structure near me (smaller in size) terribly missed it that they have to tear down 1/4 of their building to introduce supplemental columns and a new foundation. They were still battling DPC yesternight even though both project kickoff almost the same time.

There are several lessons to learn from this build, our processes, cost-saving strategies and how to keep your project moving in midst of the storm.

Please feel free to ask us any question about this build or any other construction related issues.

As regards the bold I guess such people did not take out time to study the architectural and most importantly structural designs before hitting the ground...........
