I applied for France short stay visit visa last year 2020 before the pandemic and it was granted. I was given a month tourist visa with my child and which they also stated on my passport that on the day I return I should come along with my child to the embassy to see us that we came back together.... But unfortunately we were unable to use the visa because of the pandemic I waited maybe there would be a news regarding those that were issued visa newly but no till the visa expired.

But I still went to the embassy with my child for show up and also explain why we couldn't go for the trip which they asked me to put it in writing and that they are awear of the situation....

But up till now no news regarding France short stay visa is long stay application they are accepting at the moment... I want to ask should I apply for the long stay visa? What are my chances or I should still keep waiting till God knows when....?

And I don't even know what the procedure will be again once they open for short stay application maybe is to reapply from the beginning or they may give is some consideration?

Besides my child status has also changed my child now has a British Passport are we still going to be able to travel together to France?

Am comfused here.... I need ur advice! Pls

If your visa has expired you will need to reapply for a new one, unused tourist visas are not re-issued.
You can't apply for a long-stay visa for tourism purposes.
The UK has left the EU, so your child's British passport will allow them entry to France visa free for up to 90 days only .

Hi Tobi, I got admission in April and submitted my Campus France file. I got notice that one of my sections are incomplete so I am currently editing the file. However, I have not yet submitted because I dont want to pay now and have to go for interview when i don't have all my visa requirements complete, or is that not a prerequisite?

After submission and payment, you'll have the liberty to choose your interview date. You can choose a date you're sure will be comfortable for you.

Pls can anyone direct me on how to secure an accommodation because this is needed in order for me to forge ahead. Pls help a brother.

However you can use other colocation agencies like immojeune, colocatere, or even appartager for your search - most of them don’t require a French guarantor. If you want to use a private landlord please keep in mind that they would ask for a French guarantor, and sometimes they reject even visale, garantie and the other guarantor agencies. Not all though but you can try.

Lastly, if you don’t want to go the route of private accommodation (which can be relatively expensive) you can try to lobby for CROUS apartments from the 9th of July onwards, except you are on scholarship as they usually prioritize those. The only downside was the earliest date for me was too far, and if it was not satisfactory enough I would have to go private and most of the juicy accommodations would have been snatched up.

To make it worse, the accommodation confirmation portal for my school closes on the 15th of July so that would have been cutting it too close.

Most sensible landlords would only ask you for a full months rent as deposit (refundable when you move out) , and the rent for the month in which you plan to move in (prorated by how many days in the month you are committing to stay in the house for the first month). I used an agency, so I had to pay extra administrative fees - but if you are not going through agency but normal landlord, they may require guarantor and the guarantee agencies usually ask for almost the same amount in fees (about 200-300 EUR).

you may be lucky and find a lnadlord who wants to skip the whole admin/guarantor fees aspect, but keep in mind that these houses sometimes may not be up to standard, but beggars can't be choosers I guess.

Don't apply for a long stay for now, stick with the short stay application to avoid japaism idealogy suspiciousness.

Pls is there anybody presently schooling in Université of Grenoble Alpes? I have decided to get an accommodation outside the CROUS apartments, I have been trying to get the attention of some landlords or caretakers both on studapart and Leboncoin , but no response from them. Pls somebody schooling there at the moment should help me out on this. A shared apartment or furnished studio that is of close proximity to the school will be OK by me.
