Let me try to shed more light on the birthing issue as you seem to be missing an important point that was mentioned by the poster you seem to have an issue with. The problem may not be ensuring that you paid all your bills. It could also be that you were charged a subsidized amount. It's typically the fact that hospitals in the US at that time provided discounts to cash paying customers which brought the price down significantly below what the embassy considers market rate. The inference they are making (right or wrong) is that non cash paying customers (insurance and the taxpayer/Medicaid) are subsidizing cash paying non citizen patients. The way around this is to bring your proof of payment showing that you paid "market rate". In addition, there were some hospitals that the embassy knows for doing this, such that once they see receipts from these hospitals, it becomes an uphill battle to overcome. I recall there were one or two in Texas. BTW, just curious about this. If you gave birth in 2012 and travelled on the same visa in 2018, it implies that you probably got a multiple entry visa in 2012 close to the time you traveled. Did you disclose that you were travelling for birthing purposes/you were pregnant with intention to give birth in the US at the time of the visa interview and at point of entry? How long did you say you were staying at POE vs how long did you actually stay? Note that it could be problematic if for example you said you were staying 2 weeks and stamped in for 6 months then stayed past the 2 weeks you stated at POE. Consistency/honesty is key. The interviewer has all that info on their computers. These are all issues that sometimes haunt folks at renewal.

You hit the nail on the head. I read the birthing costs for Nigerians paying in cash and I wonder... if birthing was that cheap, many middle class families would choose to pay cash to have their kids than rely on insurance. The fact that others faithfully paying insurance premiums and taxes are subsidizing cash-paying Nigerians seems to be one that gets ignored by Nigerians who are often too quick to announce how they are "paying cash" as if this cash is what the US runs on. While you may pay cash to have your baby, neither you nor your child will pay any taxes to support the country that your child will someday come to benefit from. For the next 18 years, other Americans will pay taxes to ensure your child has a safe society to live in... some day your child will choose to come here to attend high school or college... it will be paid for by the property taxes that millions of us pay every year, while you stay in Nigeria eating your cake and having it. Sometimes a little humility goes a long way.

Gone are the days......

The Embassy is now something else, the way they handle B1B2 visa applicants is wack and makes no sense, they issue visa base on your profile filled, composure and the VO present mood.

No intense scrutiny of documents.
They’ve never scrutinized documents. I’m not certain you clearly understand my post. If he/she was issued a visa based on her profile, unless her profile/circumstances have changed the visa would most likely be granted.
Note also that in the last few years of the Trump administration, Nigerians who have birthed in the US have come under intense scrutiny at visa renewal even after they had paid the discounted fees and some had been asked to pay the balance before their visas were granted. So the poster should check his/her situation.

Hello.
So sorry for badging on you here. I kindly need an advise . My wife wishes to go give birth in the States. And truly that’s her main purpose of visiting l. While I said we could go through the normal visit visa , someone advised on some medical visa though another friend later told me the medical thing might be tough. Kindly advise on what we could do pls. She’s still in first trimester though, we just thought to prepare before hand. She’s the only that will apply. And we both work and reside in UAE. Thanks & stay blessed.
Belle35:

That’s because I said so and that person’s response is based on what I said.

I gave birthday to my child 2012 and I paid in cash ( I have all my receipts). I traveled 2018 and my visa expired 2019 so I tried renewing a month(November 2019) after it expired I was denied. I tried again Jan 2020 and same thing happened. However I noticed there were lots of denials on both instances.

If I overstayed or had any issue, trust me I won’t bring this here, I brought it here because I don’t understand why. In fact, I had to ask the VO why I was refused because I was shocked.

As for you that said Oil dey your head!!!! Abeg jump and pass jareee. You’re so corrupt that you think everyone in Nigeria must be. Mtcheww

Well, I really don’t know what to advise because things have really changed. I can only share my personal experience. My first usa visa I got, I was in Qatar at that time, I had a resident permit there so it was pretty easy, my interview was very simple, brief and quite relaxing, just the very basic questions and that was it.

Then 2017, I decided to renew my visa but this time in Nigeria. I was told that I would have to go for an interview as I had passed the Dropbox time. In Nigeria, my interview experience was the opposite of the first. It wasn’t brief at all and it was so tensed. I was still issued the visa.

In my opinion, it’s easier for you to get the visa there in UAE than in Nigeria. My experience in Qatar was totally different from Naija. I think almost everyone, if not all got their visa that day.

All the best!!

Yea I believe the chances are brighter here too.. but my inquiry is more on what visa type she should go for. Will the normal visit visa work for child delivery or it has to be medical visa ? If you have an idea pls . Thanks again.

Hello, thanks to everyone who's contributed to this thread. It's no small job that is being done here.

I have a situation and I'd like to hear our experienced persons' take on it.

I want to visit the states so as to satisfy the fiance visa meeting requirement. Been more than 2 years since the last meeting between me and my gf of 10 years whom I now intend to marry.

Is the above a satisfactory answer when asked why I intend to visit the states? Do I need to bring proof of relationship to support my answer? I do have tons of those.

Also, I intend to run my masters degree in a university close to her home after we get married and I'm legally residing in the states. But just in case I apply for a visit visa and don't get it, will that affect my chances with f1?

What would you advice?

Thank you sincerely.

Why don't you go with the F1 then if you can afford it. That have a better chance.

Yes it does. But I cannot really afford it.

Like I said earlier, a lot has really changed because during my time I went with the visit visa. So I really don’t know if a visit visa would work for child delivery this time.

Hopefully, someone with ample knowledge of it gets to respond.

Good day everyone,

Please I just filled a new DS-160 form after submitting an old one. A new application ID was generated and the new ID is showing on my confirmation page. But I want to be sure I'm on the right track because I have seen people say one needs to "update the profile".
I have tried to figure out how to update the profile but not getting a hang of it or have I updated the profile already seeing that the new Application ID is showing on the confirmation page?

I realised my appointment confirmation page has my old application ID. Can't seem to find anywhere to update my profile. My appointment was also automatically rescheduled by the embassy few weeks ago.

Please help me.

Thanks everyone.

Hello! Please I’m new on this platform and I have a few questions on the B-2 visa as I’d like to apply soonest.
1. What are the requirements ( documents abd fees)?
2. Do I have to show POF ?
3. Say I get the visa, do I have to use immediately or can use it any time?

It’d make a great deal if my questions are answered clearly as it’d facilitate my application. Thanks!

Hello! Please I’m new on this platform and I have a few questions on the B-2 visa as I’d like to apply soonest.
1. What are the requirements ( documents abd fees)?
A Nigerian passport
Check https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/tourism-visit/visitor.html

The naira value of $160 or whatever USInNGA, your Bank and CBN determines is FX when you want to pay. Easier to pay through GTB if you use GTB and online banking.

2. Do I have to show POF?
Not really. From your application and conversation with the VO at your interview, an assessment or opinion can be made on your financial status. It is possible, but the chances are very slim. If you are going for health care issues, then the chances increases a lot.

3. Say I get the visa, do I have to use immediately or can use it any time?
In your application, you would have indicated an intended travel date, that might be reconfirmed verbally at the interview, so your use of the visa is based on your choice. You have 2 years to use it.
Note the embassy saves this date and cross check same at PoE, which is used to assess your subsequent applications.

It’d make a great deal if my questions are answered clearly as it’d facilitate my application. Thanks!

I really dont think they have started hosting inperson conferences, most states still have some restriction on mass gatherings, however, conference attendance still fall under B1/B2 Visa

There’s no visa called conference visa. If you are going to US to attend a conference then you will need to apply for B-1/B-2 visa (Visitor visa).

You still have a valid visa? If you have reasons to travel now, its better you travel with it than trying to renew. Just a suggestion. I don't know your situation.

I don't know the situation about the visa payments and validity. I know it was extended but can't really remember till when.

The reality is appointment dates are now a scarce commodity. Heard no appointments at all in Lagos, while Abuja's earliest appointment is June 2022 (as at monday).

I know few people who have contacted agents to help them secure a date, but I honestly have not used one before.

I really wish you all the best with the search and everything in between and beyond.

Hello Gurus in the house,
I have this serious issue on my brother's DS-160 form.
I filled his DS-160 form and his appointment last year December and he was given appointment date for june 28. But to my greatest surprise, I didnt submit his DS-160 form. I knew that coz I couldn't print the confirmation when I tried to.

It didn't occur to me until this month when he asked to print out the documents for him to get prepared.

I mailed the embassy to report myself but I have not gotten any response for like three weeks. Now.

Please! I don't know what to do oooo

Hi. With the visa interview being all booked out, what are the prospects of leaving the country to apply for a B1/B2 visa. Like applying in Ghana or Dubai.
