Hello Good people,

I am a professional CIMA UK qualified chartered accountant. I work in Nigeria with oil servicing firm currently but want to relocate to Dubai to get international work experience.

I have two options on the table:

1. Get toDubai to look for job with tourist visa.
2. Use my cash to secure 2 years freelance visa and start some tax and financial management advisory services to businesses in free trade zone and other parts of UAE.

My question is, will a professional of my experience in finance and accounting be likely to land a good job in 1 or 2 months?

Also, when is the best time in this year to make this move to Dubai?

I will appreciate your kind advise.

Dear NLders,

here is the original thread
https://www.nairaland.com/6563652/looking-younger-brother-dubai

I have been an ardent reader on this forum and I am very pleased with the quality of advice offered on this forum.

Please before I narrate my story let me clear up somethings:

First, I have to apologies for any grammatical errors, I am doing this while on transit and in a very stressed state, please pardon my mistakes.

Secondly, for those that would like to insult me and my brother before giving me advice, "no wahala' as long as you give me valuable suggestions I don't mind.

My younger brother travelled to Dubai about 2 years ago and during his stay his permit expired.

All effort to persuade him to come back home failed. Please before you judge I could understand. I am not making an excuse for him but if you are in his shoe maybe you would understand. Given our situation back home and the resource we pooled into sending him to Dubai may have acted as a catalyst for him not to want to come back just like that. He is very young and still in his early twenties so I can understand his fears and probably state of mind.

Since his paper expired he has been on the 'street". About three weeks ago we discussed about his coming home and start up a business which he bought into and we were making preparation on how to pay for his overstay and buy him a ticket when suddenly we couldn't reach him.

After about a week we managed to get in contact with a guy from my village and he told us my brother and his housemates were arrested when their apartment was raided by the authority.

The problem is that we have tried everything to persuade the contact to find a way for us to speak with him, at least to know why they are holding him. The contact told us to wait and that in Dubai you don't just go to the police to ask about someone ( I dont know how true this is) and that sooner or later the authorities will give him access to phone us.

My main worry is that I dont know what to tell my aged mother (our dad is late and my mom lives in the village all by herself), who has been asking me about my brother for the past weeks ( usually my brother calls my mom often). I don't have answers for her and I can see the sorrow in her eyes.

Please my people, I dont know what to do, it breaks my heart each time I speak with my mom and if anything happens to her I am finished. We are all she has.

I dont know how to go about locating where my brother is been held and what is being held for.

Please I will need your advice on how to locate him and to find out where and what he is being held for.

What I know is that we last heard from him about 3 weeks ago and he stay in Ajman

Traveling as a Tourist

1)Flight ticket (must be round trip)
2) Health insurance
3) Hotel reservation in UAE
4)The stamp on your passport must show that you have spent at least 15 days in the country you are flying from on the day of your travel... Anything less than 15 days, you will be sent back from Cotonou airport.
6) Covid test result which must be PCR test.
7) Valid Visa.

Traveling as a resident

2) Flight ticket
3) Return permit which you can obtain here
http://uaeentry.ica.gov.ae ( You can screen shot after checking and show them from your phone when asked).
4) Covid test result - PCR
5) Emirates ID.
6)The stamp on your passport must show that you have spent at least 15 days in the country you are flying from on the day of your travel... Anything less than 15 days, you will be sent back from Cotonou airport.

If your brother did not commit a murder offense, nothing will keep him in prison for more than 1 month and he will be repatriated to Nigeria... In UAE stealing can keep in you in prison for only 1 month and you will be repatriated and banned.
So,if your brother was caught and imprisoned for not having a valid stay ,he can't spend more than 2 weeks in prison and he will be repatriated and banned. Let's hope that you hear from him soon.

Since you've made up your mind to come to dubai, I think is best for you to get the freelance visa, it will make you comfortable to get the choice of work you want rather than 3month visa that will put you under pressure, with a freelance visa there are many offer in dubai.
