Car/real estate affiliate marketing no be beans, if you're not connected to people who have money and influence OYO na your name. To do it on your own, you'll spend a lot on marketing.

Similar story like this happened to someone i met for the first time in London. Let's call her chick

She had been speaking to her friend before and after securing her visa. Same friend assured her of accommodation and said she was looking forward to picking her up


Chick shows up at Heathrow airport and no one shows up to pick her. Her friend switched off all phones.

Sometimes, I wonder how those car dealers make their money. Some can go for a year without sales, considering their location, even those in ikeja, VI, are so many and the competition would be high. I just feel those to make it from just only this biz would have connection with government, big multinationals and big shot companies, and some of these auto dealers could be coscharis, inehmic, lanre shittu, innoson etc.

Just like in my case, so many graduates in the country are today, traumatized, depressed or even suicidal. Nothing is more depressing than seeing oneself jobless after several years of graduation. More annoying is when there's no finance to even start a business no matter how brilliant the business idea could be. If I have capital or even a collateral to use and get some money somewhere, I would rest completely from job hunting.

My ordeal.
Few months ago, I stumbled on a friend on Facebook whom we were school mates back in secondary school. His parents resided outside the state which he normally came back on school resumption and would go back during holidays.

On meeting him on Facebook, taking a look at his pictures, he's obviously doing well and claimed he's working with an international NGO. I told him my pains which is unemployment. Immediately, he was happy and telling me not to worry again that with his connections here and there, I'll get a job. His promise was to fix me either in the NGO, an insurance company, factory work or any other place of which he has links and connections.

We talked extensively and negotiated my movement and arrived I should come over last week. The plans was to stay in his 2 bedroom apartment and until 3-4 months when I can rent my own place. So I moved from Rivers state to Lagos Monday last week with just 16k on me. En route Lagos, we were keeping in touch so to know how closer I am and until I got to Lagos (God is Good Motors park) around 8pm. I called him that I have arrived the park and he said he was coming to pick me.

Long story short, that was the last time his number went. Initially, I thought it was network, or may be temporary low battery. I kept dialling the number through out the night but it never went again. Of course I had no choice than to sleep in the park. Woke up the next morning hoping his number would go but still same. I had no body else in Lagos nor knowing any where as that was my first time in Lagos. So I was just roaming around the park the whole day like a lost sheep, hungry, frustrating and pains but still hoping for his call but none came. When I tried reaching via Facebook and realized I was blocked, that was when it dawned on me that I have to start going back immediately. Already, transport fare from PH to Lagos finished about N10,500. So I was left with about 4k on me. At that point in the evening, I knew my best bet as I said earlier was to find my way back immediately but I didn't even have enough cash for my return. I had no option than to start telling people about my predicament and appealed for help to raise fund to return home the next morning. I was mocked and laughed at while some were asking to buy my phone at a very ridiculous amount. But then at that point, I could have sold it at the ridiculous amount but the phone was the only medium of communication with people especially my mum who was already worried over the journey right from the onset. I kept approaching people to help me and until one man graciously completed the money for me and I paid for my return.

On reaching home, I did nothing than thanking God that at least my case wasn't like that of late Iniobong Umoren. At least I came back home alive...which is the most important thing. But what I don't understand is why the guy chose to be that wicked to me forgetting this world is a very small place. I mean if there was never a job, why did he have to put me through that? Anyways, I have since moved on. Not even swearing/cursing him but leave everything for God. Such is life!

Fellow nairalanders, that is the dairy of a Nigerian job seeker. This leave me with the question, "will Nigeria ever be good for ordinary Nigerian?"

hmmmmm why are lagoians like that's I have such express too. Close friend of mine like that's 2010 promised me to come to Lagos all the way from Abuja I was so happy to go to Lagos. Before our car moved from park I called him to inform him and he told me to give the drive phone. Which I didn't know what he told the driver until we get to Berger the driver told me to drop this is the place he said I should drop. I did happily hoping to see my friend I called him all true he didn't pick next thing d number was switched off. And I was left with only 3500 on me I trekked from some place I can't remember again in Berger I get to one filling station I was asking people where there's cheap hotel because is late already and they kept giving me directions when I get to the hotel is already booked. Until I saw a cab man who drove me to ojota by 11 that's with my bag I was tired already. Lucky me I saw one hotel I entered the place and they told me 5k and what I have was 3500 I told the receiptionalist I'm not going anywhere I'm tired luckily someone saw me begging and she told me she's the owner of the hotel I look like her son who is on Sweden with her husband. That's how I stay there and I spend weeks free of charge. Fear Lagos people

Stop making yourself to be the victim here. I despise your friend and such attitudes from people but your number one mistake was naivety. You obviously saw photos of him on Facebook then believed that all was well with him. All those flashy bits you saw were all fake and he probably also started telling you lies from the beginning before you opened up about your predicament.
I’m not making excuses on his behalf but you don’t travel from PH to Lagos with just N16k in your pocket to live with a guy who occupies a 2 bedroom apartment hoping to stay with him for 3 months.

You should be thanking your God for not meeting him at all. Your little experience in being homeless will make you stronger. Think and stop depending on people.

I’m sure you had lots of opportunities to earn little cash here and there but avoids them because the jobs were too dirty and degrading for someone like you. Know this...there are lots of dirty jobs out there but the cash in your hands doesn’t tell the source.

Like you, a friend called his cousin that he was coming to the Uk some years back...this guy landed at Heathrow, called his cousin and guess what?...the number went into voice mail but he wasn’t that silly, he had plan B and C. His cousin posts photos of himself in winter jackets, combat trousers and Rockport boots even in summer. My guy didn’t know the difference between summer and winter. Like you he saw a successful person but then he wasn’t fooled. He hit the ground running, never wasted time moaning about the lies and mistreatment. He got it right, became a success.

Don’t be deceived by Facebook and social media photos.
You can achieve in Ph what you hoped to achieve in Lagos. Get out there and work. Nigeria is tight and hard but there are lots of things you can do to build yourself up.

this is what we all are suffering in this country , and somebody will come out and start insulting ipob that is trying to educate or open our eyes. We are not suppose to be suffering in this country after graduation as an oil producing country . Brother social media na just the more you look the less you see. Some go borrow cloth snap picture post for facebook , if you no dey careful you go commite crime . am sure his friend had a change of mind at the last minute ,or maybe the friend exprienced some ugly situation in the past .Let me share my own story ,sometimes last year an old school mate called me on the phone (have not heard from this guy for over 15 years) he said he was in a neighboring state for some business and could not make it back to Lagos that same day he wanted to do a stop over at my place then continue his journey the following day .I said no problems this guy arrived i could not take him to my house cause it would be in appropriate i did not inform my wife beforehand,so i lodged him at a very good hotel about 30k paid for his meals till the next day i even took him to my wife just for formal introductions and all that before we went out for the evening for merriment .The dude got back to his base in Lagos and only sent me a messages on whatsapp that he has arrived in Lagos .This is someone i spent close to 100k for (impromtu) .Till date he has not called me on the phone or whatsoever so with all this do you think i would be willing to assist even someone i know next time ? A lot of terrible people have ruined chances and opportunities for the innocent ones

It is true my sister, perhaps God doesn't want anyone to take the glory as you rightly said. I was once in this situation whereby people promise me heaven on earth after graduation, but nothing manifested. The good God make it happen for me when the time is right, and no one other than him can take the glory. My brother just keep believing, and keep praying to God to give you the best.
