Can someone explain why lunch bought with dividends tastes more delicious?

Why vacation sponsored by dividend income is more memorable

Dividend is not sweat money.

I think the sweetness has to do with the fact that it looks like awuf money

The lunch was bought in Naira and not USD.

You can invest part of your passive income in Eurobonds or other forex denoninated Investments.

You can buy Seplat or Airtel Africa shares, the dividends will be converted to Naira at the prevailing rate for you.

Just stick to what works for you.

Crypto is minting good money for you guys, so enjoy the party and windfall. Leave those that are buying Naira assets and Investments to continue

Is this why some of you run companies aground or refuse to pay shareholders. Or even outright damage other peoples business. As you think shareholders getting dividend is like awuf money. what about the sweat used to accumulate money to use in buying the shares or setting up a company. Now I understand what some Nigerians think when they damage other peoples business. They think na them dey work, why should the owner get anything.

Comprehension is a major issue here.

Passive income looks like awuf money, money made while sleeping.

Compare someone who saved his salary to buy a car and another person that used the rental income from his Investment property to buy a car, which one is sweeter

I hope you will now understand my definition of awuf money

Your salary or profit from hustling is the sweat money, you need to continue to sweat or hustle to make it. Stop making it when you stop sweating or hustling.

Passive income will continue to produce even when we are gone, do you know that 80% of the almost N200 billion unclaimed dividends are from dead Shareholders.

They have dead, they have stopped sweating and hustling but their Investments are still generating income

Smart people know that it is good on the long run to convert their active incomes made through salaries, trading profits, commissions etc to Investments or ventures that will give passive income like rents, dividends, royalties, coupons, interests etc

Anyhow you paint it. This is the reasoning behind why some Naija people run businesses aground. I get what you are saying loud and clear. And please do not take this as a personal attack. But it is the same similar thoughts that run in the minds of Nigerians that run businesses down. They believe owners are not due anything while they are sleeping and they are working. I do not see dividends like awuf money, but more as my reward for venturing into the business and not chopping my money completely in the first place.

Why should you invest in such companies?

Dividend yield, dividend growth, earning growth, ability to recoup my capital through dividends at the shortest period are the major factors I consider before investing.

UBA reduced dividends in 2021, I sold 95% of my holdings inmediately and kept the fund in a Fixed Income Fund. Thank God for the fund managers I was able to get 6% in the last few weeks

A good society needs savings/investments to grow the society. Smart people do not eat all their seeds but plant some in expectation of a good reward. It is a cycle for creating wealth both for the individual and the society. Passive income is the reward of the person or society that does not consume all its seeds.

I don't think it is awuf money.

You gather money to develop a rental property.
The property continue to generate income/profits for twenty years.

Is the profit awuf money? No.

Just my opinion.

Okay

Sweat money, you need to continue to sweat in order to continue to get it. When you stop sweating, the income stops

Unlike Investment income, you sweat once and continue to generate passive income for years even when we are dead, our loved ones will continue to enjoy the income until the investment is sold

Okay.

Awuf money, is the money you did work for.
And you can predict when Awuf money wil come because is not consistent.

I partially agree with you.
But dividend is not Awuf money.

Remember you took the risk of investing, some people don't.

Dividend becomes awuf money only when you are sure of it.You are not sure of it when there is unfavourable market conditions. All na risk.

I have missed the personality that updates us on the Msci index, one would have loved to know how they have been adjusting as happenings in Nigeria unfolds

On a lighter note lets not overcriticise anybody who brings a new paradigm to investing and trading to this thread
