Dear friends on this thread,

Re: TV Licence Fees

I am writing this to you because of my firm believe that this thread is meant to promote the right thing. I am writing this because I believe that dodging TV Licence fees is illegal (at least within the ambit of the law as IG currently is).

My advice:
If you do not require the TV licence, it’s fine. All you need to do is:
Visit the licensing website:
https://www.tvlicensing.co.uk/check-if-you-need-one/topics/cancellations-and-refunds-top7

In less than 2 minutes, fill the form.
They will send you an exemption.

Afterwards, you don’t have to be glancing over your shoulders and frigging, cowering in fear anytime there is a knock on the door.

Yours sincerely,
RalphJean
(who applied for, and got an exemption hence I do not watch, I do not pay and do not need to sound reminders to my children to shut the door to Law Enforcement Officers).

You try..... I no go still pay.... I love to peep....... wink

I have this Opinion, to, why should we pay TV licence when they are craaaap. They should competit like every other Tv stations out there.

I too have the exact same opinion.
And that is the reason why ( as a law abiding citizen), i formally notified the authorities that I will not pay. And the authorities issued me an exempt.

Bottom line:
If you are watching, but not paying. And your ‘solution’ is to slam the door on the faces of the enforcement agents, you are a criminal.

No be me talk am. That is the law. It is a criminal offence to be watching and not paying.

RalphJean? Just in case you have suddenly lost your ability to read and understand..can i just repeat this again that i do not pay for what i don't use. I do at least two charity contributions monthly willing and that is my choice

Now, if you want to allow anybody into your house just because you are not criminal minded then God bless you, go ahead but don't subscribe that to me.

By the way who allows strangers into their houses even with an ID? Is that not instruction 101 we all grew up with? Give me a break!

Charity contributions is NoT a substitute for criminality.
Refusing to pay TV licence is criminal.
If you do not wish to pay for what you don’t use, you do it by the book. You notify the agencies. They will not force you. They will issue you an exemption. If you wish, laminate the exemption and paste on your door. Whenever they knock, point it to them, then slam the door. That is what persons with class do.
But slamming the door on their faces when one doesn’t have a valid exemption is not the solution, it is criminal.

Why am I labouring on this? Because you Justwise can not be insisting on following the letter of the law (on the student thread) while suggesting the opposite on this thread. That has a name:

Give yourself a break and stop wasting your time with me on this.

Again i'm not paying for what i don't use and can i also add that i will not be notifying any jack.

You are classless if you believed that paying for what you don't use put you in any class.

Stop using the word criminality because you don't know what that means

For us stock, etoro is very good......

Revolut, does not warehouse all US stocks......

Stake, is also good for us stocks. But funding stake (without premium level). It takes between 24/48 hours for funds reflecting....

With stake, if you use my referral code..... We both get a free share.... I love stake, because you just buy shares and warehouse, and watch them grow ..... wink https://hellostake.com/referral-program?referrer=oyedejij225

With etoro, once you fund your account, funds are available immediately to trade. You can also copy trades from experts...... wink

Thank you bros! I will use your referrer code if I settle with stake cheesy cheesy. One more thing, do these platforms function like real stock markets? For example, do you receive dividends periodically, etc? And what do you mean by warehousing shares on stake? It doesn't allow one to trade or what?

Yup! Bought crypto with all my cash savings when it dipped to 5k last year. Sold everything when it rose to 19k (my liver started cutting grin). It was like I did blood money when I cashed out grin grin grin. When the thing continued to rise, I was not tempted one bit to get back in, cos I know the fall is coming grin grin grin. I'm still watching it to fall further before I get back in - I'm looking at a bottom price of below 20k, but I will keep observing if it settles above that.

Some shares issue dividends, but your level of investments, determines figure......

You can short sell if you want to, or warehouse them (long term investments). Then close, when it attains a figure you are happy with.......

If you buy penny stocks, you don't expect a miracle overnight. You warehouse, if you love to pray, pray.... If you love to fast, fast..... If nah night vigil, vigil shares to rise....... grin

Dodging TV licence & slamming the door on enforcement officers is a CRIMINAL offence in the UK.
A person who commits a CRIMINAL offence is a criminal.
The act of dodging payments is CRIMINALITY.

It’s like asking someone what will happen tomorrow. With crypto you can never tell, it’s like glorified gambling.

I quickly sold all my Ethereum two weeks ago. And I’m glad I did. I’m still waiting for the Bitcoin to rise . We wait in hope .

Greetings everyone on this noble platform, I do greatly want to thank everyone for the insight you all share On this forum.

Pls I have a situation and humbly seek your advice.

I am making plans to relocate with my family to the UK , but my worry is what tangible job will I be doing. Don't get it wrong pls... I can actually do any hustle to survive as long as its legit, but for how long?

I am a certified accountant but currently running an interior designing company. Humbly am not doing bad in the business . Even in my absence, the company can still be running well in Nigeria.
My wife is a nurse so getting a job from here won't be an issue. But no man wants to rely Completely on he's wife... No.

My problem is : 1) Can I run an Ict certification course here before leaving?

2) If yes, what ICT course do you think is viable in the UK?

3) IF I'm to work in the care home (for a start) can I undergo an NVQ level course here in Nigeria?

Sorry if my write up is lengthy. I just Want to start and propel my career all over instead of being a liability in the UK.

Thanks

I heard of someone who opened his door to TV Licence staff after telling them he doesn't watch TV and when they eventually found his TV turned on, he had the effrontery to tell them that the TV is only watched by his Dog.

Far from it. Am aware that I will have to lean on her income temporarily but I've got to be proactive before leaving.
