Within a year, I've applied for 188 jobs on LinkedIn. Some I was called for test and interviews, some I was never called. None of them gave me a job. There are some I applied via mail, not LinkedIn "easy apply"......so it should be over 200.

The last one was with a Yoruba company in Lagos. I applied via LinkedIn. I passed through 3 interview processes. The 4th was with the MD/CEO( Yoruba aged and titled man). He practically told me I am omo ibo(ibo man) and that I don't have the passport.

Never give up bro. Winners don't quit. By the grace of God you will tell a success story one day

It took you a high level of tenacity to apply to that level. Even though none of them has clicked, you still can't give up. You're strong and brave to get to that level. I'll advise you to still try out other platforms and be more aggressive. On that same LinkedIn, I've read the story of someone who applied for about 300 openings before finding one.

Don't stop trying until you've got what you want.

LinkedIn do not focus on "University of popular"

All they wanna see is skills

I mean real skills

With lots of recognized certification

When you have bunch of them on your profile.... international/loc job can easily locate you and will message you

Just 188 . I can apply to 50 jobs at a go. In a month that's 1500. I am in IT Sha. Another 50 on indeed. Around 100 jobs a day.

I read of a Nigerian programmer that applied for over 400 jobs in a month and he ended up getting internship with Facebook Bloomberg and one other big company like that imagine if he stopped at just 188

Don't give up though.

When one of my brother was through with school, he went to lagos for job hunt.
He told me things about discrimination and how they always say he is not from the west.

That's Nigeria for you and the black man's way of doing things. We don't believe on merit... East, west, North same. Everyone will prefer his brother over Merit.

But we know those who tends to be close to us hardly perform better because they know we won't bark at them when they do wrong

That's why Nigerian will not or hardly emerge in terms of economic growth.

This is the right time to change the way and procedure you were using in applying. Modify your CV and cover letter. Change your motivation notes, change your competencies and skills. In fact, change the whole process to an entirely different one and see the changes. Good luck and remember only those who don't quit win!

Mine was more than 200 and was never called. Putting up with Photography now but still not easy mehn.

You never know, keep pushing. I've been contacted twice by foreign multinationals even though it did not work out but I liked the experience.
I have known people who also got jobs from LinkedIn and are doing well.
Forget those Nigerian companies, acquire more skills and experience and focus on those foreign companies. Foreign companies are less likely to be biased in their evaluation.
Keep pushing , keep pushing , keep pushing!

I know that getting a job isn't easy out there, but you don't have to give up now. If you can apply for 188 jobs, I believe you can go further. Have you tried applying on other sites like " indeed" and others? You can also give it a try. As for that bigot of an MD, don't allow what he said to get to you because he's a sore loser, and there are many of them like that here in Lagos. Good luck bro, I wish you all the best. I'll advice you to also get one or two certifications to boost your cv.
