Hello everyone, I just wanted to share my timeline and encourage those who are still waiting for a positive response. It will come. Not to type too much, see timeline below:

Submitted my application October 2, 2020
Biometric request October 3, 2020
Biometrics updated to passed October 10, 2020
NSE Request November 19, 2020
Submission of NSE requirements Nov 26, 2020
Medical Invitation January 19, 2021
Medical passed January 30, 2021
February 2021- Silence
March 2021- More silence

By now, I had deferred my Winter admission to Spring. I believed that the approval will come by then.

April 2021- Still nothing

Deferral to Winter 2022 term application submitted May 18, 2021

BVL May 19, 2021
PPR May 19, 2021

It took almost 8 months. I believed that I would get it, I just didn't know when. I sent emails and raised webforms but I don't know if they made any real difference.

I sent my passport and other documents to VFS Abuja 21st May and I got it back 31st May. That's less than 2 weeks.

I am very happy and grateful.

If you know anyone in Conestoga College willing to help an incoming student with settlement planning, I would appreciate you pointing me in the right direction. I have plenty questions for that person.

As we say here, It will end in praise!

Congratulations.... It ended in praise

Everyone makes mistakes. Besides, you may have your reasons for being cautious and distrustful (Life is complex), so it's fine.

But the folks here are quite helpful and patient. Shit happens. You're welcome.

Oh okay, that's good. Eligibility will start very soon.

Since they are trying to process as many applications as possible before September, I am positive we will be seeing/hearing a lot of PPR news on this thread.

Good evening guys,
Please I want to know if I can add apply for my spouse along my student Visa application, I have been admitted to university of Manitoba, and what is left is my student Visa which I have not applied yet, hoping to consider applying for my spouse coming with me.
Please advice me, as I am going for a 4year degree programme.

Please apply alone. Your spouse needs to add to your hometies otherwise it makes your application a bit complicated. More or less like, you both a running away and not really to study.

When you get your study visa approved, you can then apply for a spousal work Permit for your spouse.

Again 4yrs program? Is it a bsc? If yes and you already have a bsc, do no apply for a visa with that o

Instead of waiting for medical request, I think new applicant should always try and do upfront medical.
It makes it easier and complete .

Imagine someone waiting for three month for medical request.
Hello Lianna2020. Congrats on your PPR. I read on the UCW website that IELTS is not compulsory if English was the language used in the Uni l graduated from. Please why do l still need the IELTS for the student visa application. I just got an offer letter at UCW for MBA and I have paid the tuition fee for Oct intake. Though I am yet to start the student application, l foresee IELTS may be an issue as there is limited time for me to study and write the exam. Do you think my PPR will be ready before October. What do you advise.

IELTS is only required if you want your visa processed faster. It is not mandatory and if you do not have IELTS, your visa would be processed via normal route. The faster processing time is called the Nigerian Student Express. You can do a quick google search on this or watch a youtube video on this subject for better understanding.

There are some certain schools in Canada that you will struggle to obtain a Canadian study visa if you use their acceptance letter for your visa application. This is most often caused by several factors which include:

A. If the school is located in a remote area in Canada.
B. The cost of the program in the school.

I'll point out a few schools I know that international students specifically from Nigeria struggle to obtain visas to study in Canada;

The names of these institutions are as follows;

1. New Brunswick Community College (NBCC)
2. Novia Scotia Community College (NSCC)
3. College of the North Atlantic (CNA)
4. Saskatchewan Polytechnic (SP)
5. ST. CLAIR COLLEGE
6. Red River College
7. Sheridan College
8. Confederation College and a few others.

I personally do not go by this subscription, your school doesn't have anything to do with your study permit application as long as the school is a dli approved by IRCC,I have seen many applicants gotten study permit with NBCC, NSCC and the likes, the most important is putting up a very good study permit application.
