Good morning, please I need your advise on what to do, my husband is based in Canada and a permanent resident, am still in Nigeria we got married in December 2020 and immediately he applied for open work permit for me in dec 24th did biometrics in 29th dec 2020 which has been updated, in feb 6th 2021 I got a mail that they received my application in dec 24th 2020 , but up till now there have been no progress on my application , I have not being asked to do medical and it’s 5month already since I applied that’s about 20weeks , there has been no update on my application, please nairalanders what do you think I should , although I sent a mail to them and I was told to mail Kenya and that’s why my file is which I did yesterday but yet to get a response , I told my husband that I should do an upfront medical but he said I should wait for them to ask me to do it , checked processing time as at yesterday it was 32weeks now , my application has stayed 20weeks , do my husband need to send a message to them that he needs family support or how do we do this because I need to join my spouse thank you so much hope to hear from you all thanks

Hello Nairaland people, I am in a serious dilemma, I am a legally married woman who is based in Nigeria and married to a Nigerian student in Canada, I have been unable to reach him for several months now, no communication whatsoever, his family members are not doing anything regarding the situation on ground, I am really worried on what could be the situation of things over there, he will be done with school in less than 4months. Please what could be wrong? He has promised to call for me soon, so I am surprised I cant reach him for this long. I really want to see my husband. This situation at hand as made me depressed and I have been unable to function. What do I do? Please help!

Hunnn how did you meet him

Where was the wedding done
Were his parents at the wedding

Did your parents agree to the marriage

Because if you can answer all dis question, then ur case is simple

If the wedding was done in the church or mosque...I think the officiating ministers should mediate

If both parents agreed to dis marriage. Then ur parents should contact the in-law officially to discuss constructively

Why work permit instead of spousal sponsorship? Work permit is a trv & you have to convince the VO that you will leave canada when ur permit expires. It’s difficult to convince a VO that you will depart canada when you have a PR or Canadian spouse. I am not saying that ur application is gonna be refused, but spousal sponsorship is your best bet ( except u are not interested in relocating permanently yet).

However, you can send the travel Authorization ( exemption letter) to ircc.

Thanks for your response, i have sent the travel authorization mail, I don’t think the application for Open work permit is wrong , open work permit is different for work permit , you can read about it ,and for you to apply for open work permit one of the criteria is you need to have a spouse who is a citizen or a permanent resident and also you can apply for for permanent residency along side which I did, so many of my friends husband did it and it work for there wives , thanks for your response I appreciate

Work permit & PR applications?? If you are eligible for PR, why waste the application fees for the ‘open work permit’ . As a PR of canada you don’t need any work permit whether open or closed work permit .

I know right and I understand you but , PR takes one year , so we just did that so atleast I can be there before the PR is approved, the distance is not easy, that was why we did it...

As far as I know, unless he is in Jail, there is absolutely no reason for him not to reach you.

This is not a case of "I want to be with my husband"

This is more of, does the man consider you his wife?

Of all things...communication is non-negotiable in a long distance affair...
Not being in communication for months is more than enough reason to love and protect yourself 1st...thats not marriage.

I pray you find courage to do right by yourself.

I just have a strong intuition that something is happening in the dark but I can’t just place my hands on it and it’s really hurts that I can’t get my answers on the questions I have asked myself several times. I’ll get to the root of the matter.

Most of us out here do not value the mental health of our women back home, so far we are in Canada, nothing else matters.

Please my dear, guard your mental health jealously..do not let any of this get you into depression...

That’s exactly what I am doing because months back, I was in a terrible state almost lost my mind but ThankGod for the people I have around me who helped me to move past it. I know the truth will eventually come out, God is with those with clean hearts �

Hi Guys, please does anyone have a template/guideline for writing to IRCC as a spouse of an applicant for SOWP. Also is it a good idea? Has anyone done it successfully? Objective is to speeden up the application process. We only applied in March but my hubby is getting so frustrated and depressed, wondering if there is something I can do from my own end since I am in Canada with the kids. Hey all, I have a friend who is in Canada and wants to sponsor his spouse. My friend is a PR and his wife has a valid Nigerian passport but wants her hubby's name on her new passport. The new passport has been applied for since April but Naija no get booklet.

The other evidence and acknowledgement of the new name are noted on the forms, newspaper publication, affidavit of change of name, so they wanna continue the application process with the old valid passport until Naija get sense.

Including a new passport biodata page can wait until embassy or IRCC is ready for something, right?

With the look of things now one must be fully vaccinated to be exempted from that $2,000 hotel quarantine oo.

I never collect even the first done , $2,000 no joke in Naira oo

I am fully vaccinated Because I work in the sector where I deal with covid 19 sample for research purposes.
