While I was filling the form online, I got a number to call but it wasn't picked. I received a mail from the nursery stating a link to claim eligibility code for 30hrs. I followed the link but there was a request to provide at least 2 of the stated forms of ID (payslips/P60, UK passport, Northern Ireland driving license and 1other thing). I've got payslips but don't have the other IDs.

So I wonder if there is any other way to go about this

From what dupyshoo is saying you’re only eligible for 15 hours ‘free’. 30 hours is for the ‘settled’. Hopefully she or other mums in England will be able to throw more light. It’s completely different here in Scotland.

Our 3 year olds sha go to school 9am to 3pm like primary schools students. Went into effect August last year. It’s absolutely lovely grin

That was my initial understanding as well.
Re: Living In The Uk/life As A UK Immigrant by dupyshoo: 6:54pm On Jun 09, 2021
It is only for people that are eligible and both parents are working.

Things are definitely different in Scotland. For example, while most children start school the September after they clock 4 year old, I think it is about a year later in Scotland. So, parents in Scotland will need the free childcare more.

It’s definitely different. But I’m not even sure it’s about when the kids start. Correct me if I’m wrong but at 4 in England, you go into Reception. Primary school is still at 5 or almost 5 in both countries depending on the month you’re born.

Here they even school from 2 years if you qualify. I think the SNP made it one of their selling points to increase access to childcare especially for parents that might want to return to work or increase hours.

Modified to show that yup at 4 you’re still in Early Years.

So by eligibility, you mean one must either be a citizen or settled on ILR. Wow!

You are right but don't forget that Primary school ends at Year 6 in England while you have to get to P7 in Scotland. A child born in August will finish primary school a year later in Scotland.

That was the rule i know but I read here on NAIRALAND that it been changed and opened to everyone

What I used to know
-15 hours for 3 year old is open for everybody
-the additional 15 hours to make it 30 hours is classified as public funds

Anybody whose visa says no public fund is not eligible for 30 hours . That was the rule but please check as I am feeling lazy to confirm if as of today that rule still the same

Really?
Yes, no need for ILR if they were born here and you or your spouse has ILR.
Re: Living In The Uk/life As A UK Immigrant by dupyshoo: 7:19pm On Jun 09, 2021
You might not be a citizen but have recourse to public fund and still be eligible.

You’re Very Correct. I wonder if it’s because a England has A’Levels as almost standard and we don’t. Everyone seems to finish at the same 17-18 years.

No, you can't. The naira Mastercard has a limit of $100 monthly I think. You can check out PAGA or ask on the student visa thread.

Walk into your bank and ask for form A, they should be able to help you with even better exchange rate

there should be an option to pay using paga, that gives you a Naira equivalent and thus the $100 limit doesn't disturb you.

Good afternoon everyone...I want to ask anyone that either recently travelled to England or knows someone that recently did....how did you submit the used kits for the Day 2/8 covid19 tests? I asked because new arrivals are meant to be in quarantine...I understand the used test kits are to be submitted to either post offices or authorized courier agents of the test companies... Thanks in advance

Think you are allowed to go to the post office to drop it…just make sure you follow local guidelines

Commercially, Most carriers won’t carry even 1kg of it. You need a license to do so and very few people have it. In your personal luggage this might not apply (re:guidance)

However, (slides closer and whispers): You must be very careful. There are people close by with ‘teams’ watching our every move. And horror of all horrors their office seems to be 4 levels above M16. Even Scotland Yard is afraid of them (looks around furtively)….. If you’re not careful, they might come with badges and haul your ass in for attempting to smuggle in ‘dry fish’ (shudders). For them, the sin is not much different from bringing in cocaine through the borders. So please, watch your back, lock your doors, make sure you eat all your fish, don’t leave any traces. May heaven safe us (sprinkles holy water).

Good morning.
