A working child should be running his own household/home.. We are talking of adult children here and no parent owes an adult child jack. But we give support out of love here and not duty/obligation.
He/she should not be a burden on the parents.
Joshua has no understanding of the Nigerian life and his message is for his UK followers, where he was raised. He was raised with British values since he moved as a boy.
He is right when he says young people (in UK) still stay back at home despite working in order to save up for their own mortgage.
However, their parents are still working hard into their 70s to finish paying up their own mortgage. Any little amount such a child drops will be well appreciated. Those who decide to work abroad and not be on benefits are really hard workers.
I see too many older people who tell me they've been working since they were 16 years till 64/66 years when they retired. They rely on their pension which isn't much, and if any child decides to stay with them, they can barely feed themselves and such a grown child on that pension even if their mortgage has been fully paid.
Many have had to go back working part time after retirement, in their old age o because its necessary they do so, and not because of boredom.
