Good morning family,
Could you please give me affordable and secure hotels close to the airport at Ikeja.
I need a hotel that will be NGN20,000.00k max

Of course I already applied to schools in Uk and Canada I’m not putting all my eggs in one basket
chibertha:
If I was in your shoes, I would forget America for now and face UK,New Zeeland, Canada or Australia when I am done with my course there I will then face USA for PhD.
In your case money is not a problem as you claimed.

LONG POST AHEAD!!

Hello all, a very happy Fathers day to all the fathers in the house and a happy Sunday to all of us. Please I would love to say I am going for my interview on the 28th of June in abuja, this is going to be my 4th time. I have been refused 3 times now, once in Lagos consulate and two times in abuja embassy. I am praying for the lord to help me this time around because I have made some errors in the past.

First interview in Lagos 31st of December 2020
Vo: how old are you? Note: Undergraduate studies
Me: I am 22.
Vo: how come at the age of 22 you were able to travel to Congo, Kenya and Ghana for a missionary work?
Me: yes after my high school I went for a missionary service for my church which I did for two years.
Vo: okay I see, so were you paid during this missionary work?
Me: no it was a voluntary missionary service.
Vo: where are you going to?
Me: I am going to xxxy for my xxxx
Vo: why this school and what will the degree do for you?
Me: I explained as I was directed to the extent that the Vo continue nodding his head.
Vo: so how will you be paying for your studies, my COA was $34,000
Me: meanwhile in the place where it was stated who will be paying for the trip in my ds-160, I went to put self sponsor thinking it was just only the flight ticket. I told the Vo that my father will be my sponsor.
Vo: what does he do
Me: he works in a microfinance bank
Vo: did he gave you any of his financial documents?
Me: yes he did, handed his bank statement
Vo: he went through it and then said is this the same bank your dad works with?
Me: I never expected that question because I knew that microfinance bank was different from other banks so the Vo was thinking it was a regular bank, I told him No that this not the bank he works with.
Vo: he then asked me his position in the work
Me: I told him
Vo: he typed for so long, I was thinking I would be granted then he handed the blue paper that I am not eligible for this visa.

I dropped my transcript, some people told me I wouldn't have used microfinance as the occupation of my father, I then deferred to the fall semester and reapplied again in abuja.

Second attempt in Abuja.
Vo: have you traveled outside Nigeria before
Me: yes, I have been to Kenya, Congo and Ghana for a missionary service
Vo: who is sponsoring your studies and what is the occupation of your sponsor
Me: my dad, I told the vo that my dad is into sales of vehicles, which I didn't mention in the first interview
Vo: he immediately checked my i-20, he glanced through it, I am sure he checked my COA of $34,000 then he just gave me back my documents that I am not eligible.

Third attempt still in abuja ( this time around I used a different school, for this very school I had a tuition waiver of $5,000 and the deficit was $20,000 going for undergraduate (

Vo: I see you have a scholarship, well that's good. So where are you going to
Me: I am going to xxxxy for my xxxxy
Vo: how did you hear about this school
Me: from a colleague during my missionary service
Vo: who is sponsoring you and what does your sponsor do?
Me: I still repeated what I said in the second interview that my dad is the sponsor and he is into the sales of vehicles in my city.

Vo: typed for so long then handled the green paper. He said I am so sorry but you are still not eligible for this visa at this time.

I gathered myself again and then I reapplied gotten a date now and it going to be on the 28th of June that is 8 days from now. I know I changed the occupation of my father when I was asked in the second and third attempt of my interview. But this was because of what people told me about microfinance workers that it wouldn't convince the Vo enough so that was the reason I had to use the sales of vehicles, my dad does that too but that is not his primary occupation. I know the first Vo recorded the occupation I said in the first interview but I don't know if may is because of this that i was denied and I am going for the 4th time, my deficit is not too big compared to the one I used in the first interview. This very one is $20k. Please I need you to advice me on what to do in next interview on Monday the 28th of junr regarding my sponsor. Please your contributions will really help me, it took me a lot of courage for me to continue this journey I almost gave up. Please I need all of your help on this. @fairheart, Twoods and the rest of you all

You attempt to change what your Dad do? During interview, one of the key things VO note down in their remark section on applicant's profile is what sponsor does. If you say he is a farmer during first interview and that interview did not go well and you reapply and during second interview you say he is a mechanic, it will lead to automatic refusal. They would see it as lying/misrepresentation.

Also, I always say it, a consular would not take your statement if he/she is not interested in approving you. They always take the statement to look to seal their conviction that student is credible. So using this context, you satisfy consular during the interview, but your statement did not convince him/her that your Dad can comfortably pay.

Now, the following interview, changing school can be nice, but only when it will significantly change your case, or make your case favourable. VOs are human too; sometimes, they can see you as unserious student when your application is riddled with inconsistency. And that is why it is good to come to this thread and share your stories and ask for advise, then use that knowledge to decide what you think is best for you.

This is my opinion: I perceive you have a remark that says your sponsor may not be able to comfortably pay your COA due to the balance on the statement when you first applied. Secondly, it is possible your answer about what your sponsor do, did not sit well with the first VO, hence left a remark that affected other interviews.
My Advise: Do not reapply now. Please! Get a full-tuition scholarship and go back. You will get your visa. However, if you feel convinced that reapplying with your current profile still hold a good chance, please try again.
All the best!

I applied and got admitted in a university in the US and my interview date was scheduled for today but unfortunately I was denied. The school I applied is $12k tuition and $8k estimated living expenses with other fees a total of $23,512

Me: good morning

VO: good morning

I see that you applied for this university, how did you get to know about it?

Me: Through my uncle who owns an educational consulting firm

VO: have you traveled outside Nigeria before?

Me: No ma’am

VO: who’s sponsoring your trip?

Me: My uncle

VO: when did you finish secondary school?

Me: 2006

VO: what have you been doing since then?

Me: I’ve had a National Diploma and a Higher National Diploma from xyz school in Nigeria

VO: hands back my passport and a green paper to me!

At this point I felt devastated and heart broken.

Please gurus in the house do you think I said anything wrong?

Was it that the tuition fee is way too much or too small?

My people no vex o! Na question I ask.
Good day everyone,
I need guidance.
I am considering doing a masters degree in the US in one of the STEM disciplines. I noticed there are so many schools claiming to be recognized in the US. My question is, how do I know which school is recognized and will add value to me as per recognized degree for green card/ permanent residency pursuit.

All that matters is for the school to be SEVP accredited. If it isn't, you won't even get a visa to start with.

Yes I have actually written the gre, toefl and gmat since my first interview the last time I went to the embassy was in January 2020 it’s almost two years now do you think that will help? as I’m not able to secure any form of funding and do the consular officers record everything said during all the interviews? And is the Biden administration a little bit lenient this time please I will be awaiting your reply thanks
NigPatriot:

To begin with, @ the bolded. You're always adviced not to take this as a do or die affair, or you'll most likely keep getting denials. Why consider suicide. It shouldn't even be an option. There are over 190 countries in the world, USA is only one option of many.

You have a good travel history, but from what you've said I think you've had various discrepancies in your applications - you've told lies at several points. I'll advice you give a last shot, and if you get another denial you can try other countries.

In your next application fill the DS-160 by yourself print it out and know everything you filled off your head. Also, if you can try to get some sort of funding from your school no matter how little. I also don't know the school you applied to, you can try a higher ranked university, Or take a standardized test. - this just reinstates your genuineness as a student.

The aim is try to change something about your application before going to apply again.

hi Ogbanz, sorry for your denial. ill give my little deductions. Look at the highlighted portions.

when the VO asked if you're going with your wife, what is "obviously no"? isn't it possible she follows you as a dependent. i mean, you can say not for now, but later on maybe when you're settled she can come visiting. that's a viable response.

Also, I am having a difficult time aligning what your current work is, with your intended pursuit of studies in the US. which is why the Vo asked "what you do" and "what you intend to do when you finish". Your response of coming to take back the same job upon completion doesn't show that the degree will do anything significant for you. Work on this aspect specifically, align what the degree will do for you when you return to something that's specific to that degree.

i wish you well.

I was misguided and so even before my F I-20 got to me, I made a request from the school to send me my sevis number and school code throughh the advice of someone. So after the payments, I applied for visa and the interview dates showed 4th January 2024 whereas my start date is August 15, the same person asked me to apply for emergency visa without telling me that I would need to upload my sevis receipt and i20 which by the way I haven't gotten them. So I filled the emergency request page and uploaded only my admission letter, till date no response. Right now I'm confused because I just learnt that it's the f i20 that I was supposed to attach. Otherwise, repost your situation and wait for advice from the elders in the house.

Status: *Visa Approved*
Venue: Lagos
School: University of Louisville, Kentucky.
Under-graduate Degree: Adult Education/Communication and Language Arts
Intended Degree : Business Analytics.

Appointment Time : 21st June, 2021; 7:00 am (4 VOs were around, though they didn't come same time).
I got there around 5:30am cause I wanted to be part of the first set. Avoid those nonsense people at the gate, they just wanna scam you. I greeted all security guards from the gate to the interview room, and they were quite impressed someone rated them enough to greet them lol. One was even praying for me. Sha, the warm reception helped me stay calm. Be ready to stand for long sha. The wait is the hardest part tbh.

I was the 26th person to be interviewed, (yeah I'm extra lol), but tbh, too many people chop blue paper. and it had to do with funding.

almost five people were rejected before it got to my turn but I kept calm. The black American woman who rejected everyone that went to her beckoned on me. but as I was going to her side, the window before her got vacant so I sharply hopped in.

Male VO, what I wanted from the start.

Me: Hi, Good morning. (with the sweetest voice ever and a big fat smile)
VO: Good morning.
Me: (sharply) How are you?
VO: (surprised, but clearly amused) I'm doing great! Pass me your I-20 and passport.

I did.

VO: Where are you going to?
Me: I'm going to the University of Louisville, Kentucky for my Master's program in Business Analytics.

VO: Why Business Analytics?
Me: I had to work with a lot of data at my first job, so I started learning data analytics tools. I eventually ventured into data analytics when I discovered it was a lucrative and booming field with a lot of opportunities, which carried a financially rewarding prospect in. my transition was made easy by the many opportunities and scholarships available for upcoming black women in tech that I got a hold of, like my two nanodegrees from Udacity in Business and Data Analytics. I would come back to Nigeria to break into any of the big four and take up a position as a Senior Business Analyst preferably at Deloitte or PwC, in order to drive insightful business solutions with data and this degree puts me in a good stead to landing it.

(Yes he allowed me talk at full length me sef shock)

VO: Who will be sponsoring your education?
Me: I got a partial scholarship from my school, and I took a loan from Prodigy finance which would cover the remaining deficit. My mother is going to sponsor my living expenses. She's into real estate, property valuation, and she works on many building contracts; for instance, she's presently collaborating with the Ekiti state government in building about 15 blocks of apartments for police officers in Ekiti state

VO: Okay. Can I see any documents stating the terms of the loan?
Me: Of course. (I looked for my letter everywhere, I dinnor find it, omoo. The VO was smiling and he told me to calm down and not rush. I sha found it and gave him.

VO: Did you have any consigner for this loan?
Me: No, I didn't. it's a no-consigner, no-collateral loan. I was given cause my degree has a high Return on Investment, so the lenders were certain I was capable of paying it fast. Also, I have good savings and a great credit score.

VO: I will be issuing your visa. He gave me a White paper.
Me: Thank you.

I didn't hear anything after he said that. I always told myself that I will try to listen after my approval but omooo. I didn't hear singbai.

The euphoria made me ask VO for my passport back. lmaooo. He said I will be called to collect it.

Help me thank God óò! He didn't ask my most dreaded question of "what was my undergraduate degree in". Even though I got funded offers in other schools, I opted out for this one cause of the one-year internship it offers and I'm glad I made that decision!

Thanks to everyone who helped me on this journey from day one.

A hearty congratulations.
I'll share my testimony soonest, by God's grace.
I pray for more approvals for all applicants...Amen smiley

NoFap123:

@⁨John Doe⁩ @⁨Bisola⁩ for help in GRE. God bless you guys immensely @⁨Johanson Onyegbula⁩ @⁨OBINNA UGWU⁩ @⁨Kunle Adewole ⁩ ⁩ @⁨Oreoluwa Central Florida⁩ @⁨Samuel Affar⁩

you guys were there for me. you all are amaaazzzing! God bless everyone on ANNEX.

You could easily have said you will be taken up academic position in XYZ University. In my opinion, I think the first destinations for PhDs is the acadermia. Returning to Health Agency after your PhD get as eh bi, my opinion.

Hello .... my sister recently got her F1 visa but she hasn't travelled yet and I am also going for my interview next month. We have the same sponsor (our dad). If I'm asked if I have any one in the US, my plan is to say NO. I hope this wouldn't be an issue. Or do I have to clarify that my sister recently got a visa also?

Thanks.

Hi, am sooo sorry. I heard they were spraying blue paper today.

Sometimes, I feel they deny people for the visa fee revenue kiss

Please reapply again. You have a very good chance of being approved.

Also it's your visa application that was denied, not you. They are two different things.

All the best.

All the best!

grin grin So, you do not later tell me your school bro as you are scared for 48 hours grin. Anyway I know you can’t tell me as you are not in USA and you are not bold enough to show us your profile as you don become lagbaja. I have forgiven you brother. Take care and stay safe grin
