Lagos1000:On this note, I’d like to ask: My uncle is funding my deficit, but my I-20 is says ‘personal funds’. Please, I hope this won’t be an issue? I have also contacted my immigration officer at school and she’s insisting that it’s how they do it. I am bothered because I’ve seen an I-20 saying ‘Family Funding’

Hello house. Please help solve my case, I’ve been to the US embassy twice on b1/b2 visa but was denied in 2017, despite claiming I was married just to show ties although truly I was never married. Then later I got married in 2019 to my husband who’s a permanent resident of Canada, we filed for spousal visa, but we’ve been on it ever since, I guess the application is stuck, so we decided to try US student visa and I recently gained admission into university of Arkansas at Little Rock, and we are about to process my i20, I’m confused who to use as sponsor? Either my husband or my dad, my husband is a permanent resident of Canada and he has entered US by road few times, while my dad and mom are divorced, though my mom remarried and her husband died, I remember my mom filled widow on her DS-160 then, my mom has been to the US few times and has never overstayed, and she doesn’t bear my father’s name on her passport. I also don’t bear my father’s name on my passport too, I’m using my husband’s name, I’m worried if I can use my father as my sponsor, I’m worried the consular might think my father is my mom’s husband that died, and I feel I can’t use my husband cause he’s not based in Nigeria, please help clear my confusion |

Pls guys, I am yet to submit my ds160 form due to some questions bothering me, I don't want to make mistakes. My interview is scheduled for August 4, even though I'm planning to apply for emergency as my resumption date is 23rd of August. My long term goal is to be a lecturer but i currently teach in a secondary school, is it advisable to answer the question "where do you work presently" by saying "I teach Mathematics and Further Mathematics at"..since I was admitted for Msc Mathematics? I notice people who tell the Vo they teach often get denials and lastly, my deficit is huge($51k) to be sponsored by Uncle but family funds was what was stated on i20, is there a way to better present this to the VO? Thanks |

I don't think it's a problem and shouldn't affect the outcome of the interview. While filling DS 160, there is a column where you are asked for former names ( could be maiden name or any former name) you can state your former name. During the Visa interview, go with the change of name document and if the VO ask you can explain why you effected a change of name. shawnmich: |

Prosnelson:$59,000 tuition per year, excluding living expenses, to be paid by your uncle? Yeah sorry bro… Also I think having your uncle change his surname to match yours and calling him your dad is immigration fraud. |

Pace6:So sorry about your denial my dear brother. Your do not sound like a credible student in all your responses here as. Do you have a proposed transcript at all ahead of your interview? Do you have series of mock interviews as well too coupled with making a lot of changes/corrections in your PT among your friends? You have a weak responses at where you are been asked how did you got to know this school and also what have you been doing since you graduated. The VO didn’t ask you about your academic credentials/background at where you made mention of you having ND & HND rather telling him/her what you’ve been doing since you have this degrees after your graduation like now he/expect to talk like this; I have been working as a graduate Teaching Assistant at the my alma mata at the department of Physics and my job description are (1) I involved in proctoring (2) I grade , mark etc and so on like that. However, there is still room for an improvement in your responses to this two vital questions he/she asked you. Also, how you filled your DS-160 matter as well too because I don’t know what you wrote inside it like your job description/responsibilities as that will showcase to the VO that you have the innate knowledge of been a credible person that intend to come to study. Finally, God is alive my brother and don’t be weak with this rejection as I understand how you will feel with today’s decision but that’s not the final decision at all. Just ensure you work very well on your responses in your next attempt and I pray and hope you will surely it by God’s grace. Thank you and Take Care. |

Phenomenalmau:You have several problems: Who did you enter as your husband when you applied for a visiting visa? You have an application for permanent residency in Canada. If the VO finds out, it will be a straight denial. My best advice - forget about schooling in America and get your spousal visa done. It is strange that you say it’s stuck. What does that mean? Why don’t you get that settled rather than waste time, money and effort pursuing an education that you don’t really want? I have a feeling your current “marriage” is no better than your previous claim. |
| Re: General USA Student Visa Enquiries-part 16 by walepepe21: 3:36am On Jun 22, 2021 |
Easydgre8:Sorry about your denial today dear brother. It is not your lack experience at all that got you denied rather than what you uttered/told the VO and what you filled inside your DS-160 that made up the decision you got today. More than 70% of fresh graduate like you are even attending embassy this Fall 21 mostly than those that have graduated like 3 years etc. I actually do not know how you filled your DS-160 as that will depict your profile clearly to the VO but I saw that you have a weak responses like when the VO asked you that why did you chose LSU. As for me I would have expect you to start with this statement that ‘’Coupled with the fact that you are awarded a $12,000 scholarship which you are grateful for OR In addition to the fact that you got a scholarship of $12,000 you will also be working with prof XYZ who’s keen on having me in his research team…….’’ VO know actually know most people consider a part is because of funding which is the first thing that is utmost for any student before you consider your yearnings and aspirations which is research you will be doing(if you’re passionate though) and you add other things that will made up having a great learning outcome after the degree like your engagement in that particular research etc. However, don’t give up at all as this is not the best time to do so as all you need is to be encouraged and book another interview after you’ve introspectively work on your weak responses/points. I will also advice you to have work on why you chose LSU as that question is constant K. First of all talk about funding , secondly talk about the research you will be doing and thirdly talk about your engagement in that lab and finally talk about the uniqueness of your school like my school is an R-1/R-2 etc. Finally , I pray you get it in your next attempt please don’t let the decision you got today weigh you down as it’s hard I understand but all you need to do is to go back to the drawing board and work on those things others and I told you here. Thank you and God bless you |
