So many thing can make someone earn third class and it doesn't mean he is not brilliant.
A lecturer can frustrate your life with third class. Someone can get 3rd Claus in Nigeria and still make first class in London. Some Lecturer will tell you to sort to pass and read to know, no money for sorting no pass for you

There are lot if influential people in Nigeria that earn a 3rd class in their first degree...
Wale soyinka is number one .....others follow
Some people don't even know where their certificate is and have never work with it after graduation.

I have been working there as a contract staff for 3 years but now i applied for a vacant post in the same company for a full staff role....

My question is will I be considered for a full staff role even with a 3rd class?

I have done written interview and i passed
I have done one on one interview too but I'm expecting the reply....
I'm only scared if my 3rd class certificate will be considered....

My dear third class is not the limit to your sky. Just be focused in what ever u do,gather more work experience. Thank God u said u are almost done with it masters. If u hope to further he career, enroll for it masters later. Then d sky is he starting point

great point, but please don't encourage our students against hard-working, diligent study.
I never sorted anyone, didn't even want to know some lecturers office. yet, it didn't deny me good grades.

True if U really study hard in Nigerian uni with light problem,lack of finance, accommodation problem,lecturers problem,no water problem, unhygienic hostel environment to make a 3rd class without sorting if you go to abroad to school you will make 1st class.things are a bit easy now b/c during my time no phone,gsm in existence,i never saw any student with laptop,not to talk of internet service now most universities has free internet service,a lot of research materials online.

Working there for three years as a contract staff would have availed them the opportunity to know your other areas of strength where you can contribute to the company other than just your certificate.

On your part: Except if you were not giving your best as a contract staff, you did not learn on the Job or you could not convince them in the interview that you are you understand what you have been doing. Nothing should stop them from hiring you.

On their part: Except they have special interest in the new person coming if you were interviewed with other people, want to spend more money and time in imparting the knowledge you already have from them or they see you as not been able to demonstrate to them that you have learnt while there. You should be a good hire to them.

Your Certificate is not the only way to test your capability and suitability for the job. Depending on the role you are meant to play there, for your three years as a contract staff, they would have examined other areas like:

- Your attitude to work. Are your punctual? Do you take given assignments/responsibilities serious? Do you complain on necessarily when assigned tasks?

- Your abily to lead and be lead. Employee not matter how low on the cadre could still be entrusted with leadership role.

-Your ability to deliver or learn on the job where applicable. Do you complete your given task to the satisfaction of your boss?

-Your relationship with your colleagues. Are you cordial with your colleagues? You may not necessarily be friends but at least can you work with them and achieve needed result for the company?

-Then your relationship with the client/customers of the company...

I never encountered any stigma whatsoever.
Infact, I have never been unemployed since i graduated from the University and have worked in 4 different construction companies before moving to my present place.

I have never gotten a job with connection, i saw them online and applied specifically HotNigeriajobs.com
