Depends on ;
1 - The state
2 - Are you paying rent?
3 - The distance to your place of work.

I'm a graduate without a job.
If you could be kind enough to link me with the job, I will forever be indebted to you.

Please can someone survive a whole month with just 50k salary as a graduate.

I had a friend that just got employed in a big organization but he is placed on contract and 50k salary. Should he go ahead to take the Job or look elsewhere considering the deteriorating economy of Nigeria.

What's your advise on this guys.

In my opinion, that friend of yours should just endure, though the salary seems small. He or she might be converted into a regular staff later. Most of the big organisations nowadays do this a lot.

The salary might be meagre but when other hidden benefits begin to show up, he'd be glad he took that job. The major problems most job seekers have nowadays is discontentment. Their mouths are so wide that they wouldn't mind earning 500k a month, as if it's so easy to create jobs. In the process, they end up at nothing. My sister inlaw started with a 40k salary as a contract staff with access bank. She was still single when she started, she joined immediately after completing her nysc. At the end of the month, hardly would she be able to save 10k cos transport would have gulped the chunk of it.

Barely 3 years into her employment with access, there was a circular from the head office, in which each departmental head was asked to recommend 2 diligent contract staff under them for an interview. There were some who had been there on contract for nearly 4 years before she joined them. Her boss recommended her. She also recommended a guy whom my inlaw met there. She said her boss lady was always strict on her, not knowing she was grooming her. In short, she passed the tests and interviews and was converted to a regular staff, through an internal job advert . She was posted to their call centre, the position she held until she joined another bank of South African bank's affiliate. I don't want to mention the name but people could guess with that description. She was posted to their call centre at ilupeju before she moved to a multinational finance company.

At times, starting very little pays because you never can tell of the robust benefits lying ahead.

Very true. You might even get recommendations and refferrals to other job opportunities while you are still engaged but who will recommend you while you are at home looking for a better pay?

Tell him to to take the job and while at it, look for better jobs. Half a loaf is better than none.

It's relatively dependent on location and how financial intelligent he is on spending.

Air, water, clothes, accommodation, tp, food--the basic things you need to survive are cheap. Some people go carry their legs enter wetin go chop their money and start lamenting. There are still pocket-friendly ladies out there too.

Calculate your rent, transport, feeding and other basic necessities. Add minimum 10k monthly savings.

If the 50k covers the above and the position or job isn't something you'll be ashamed to put on your CV, then take the job... From there, start learning a digital skill you can use to freelance on places like upwork and fiverr. Also find other vocations you can attach to the 50k job and keep developing yourself.

2-4 years time, you'll be earning comfortably well from your side hustle and you won't be scared of any employer in Nigeria who are mostly heartless.

Tell your friend to use his head. If he becomes lazy and refuses to persevere through the challenges and hardship and learn a good digital skill and keeps hunting for one high salary job, he will either end up a slave in Nigeria working for less than the value of his time or a broke man living from hand to mouth in the city or his village.

Just tell him to learn and learn.

Best wishes

It depends on where you are located.

But be that as it may, anyone with good money management and spending skills can manage life at 50K.

He should do a calculation of how much he would spend on transportation for a month, feeding.
If the house is free good for him otherwise, he will start immediate saving plans for rent renewal.

Also take into consideration that he'd have to take medication, buy shoes, clothes which won't be every month or one every month and family.
If he's planning to get a wife.

All these and more should be considered, but if there are no external 'mouths' then he can manage.

Ooopss! I almost forgot the 'my guy' sets of people, and the 'bro abeg borrow me small money I go give you back' group.

But it's still better than nothing. At least, he'd be expectant every month ends.

My brother, sometimes it is not how much you earn. It is what you decide as your principle or what I call financial culture. If you are disciplined as a young man and inculcate the habit of saving in your everyday life, you will go far. Save and invest is the motto.

We often feel that you must jam a huge amount of money to become financially successful but it is wrong. The sum of N300,000 can be your seed capital for investment and after 4 years, your business can worth more than 20 million.

Op, tell your friend to save, invest and grow. Let him stay away from parasitic young women, drugs, alcohol, partying and useless fairweather friends

What can someone invest 300k on and would worth that figure in 4years? Please I badly want to know it.

Take it and grow from there, I took a job without pay for 3months and I traveled from ikorodu to Victoria Island everyday and it pays off in the end when I was eventually placed on 50k salary on contract basis and few months later was fully employed and all my benefits were paid in full from the day I joined the organization.
Sometimes you just have to start from somewhere and God can elevate you from there.

Very stvpid question. Any Graduate that can not manage #50k salary is nothing but a theif.
Well you maybe right due to your financial status. A university graduate collecting 50k per month? Honestly poverty is a disease that can not cure by doctor. Let assuming that is house rent is 7k per month, 1k for electricity per month, transportation 5k per month, feeding 20k per month, calling card and data 2k per month and let say unexpected expenses of 5k per month and total expenses is 40k per month. And you can only spend this amount if you're not living in Lagos, Porthacourt and Abuja. At the end of the month he can only save 10k per month with this money can he even have a family of his own? To be honest with ourselves a graduate should not earn less than 150k per month had it been we have a reliable and passionate leaders. Nigeria is richer than 85% of European countries but our problem is bad leaders.
