Phone the police immediately and tell them you have just been assaulted and that you have video evidence of it. Make sure you follow the case up with the police ( who should normally send a police car to your address immediately to take down the facts) and if the police are dragging their feet (which they could do as times if the victim is black - remember what happened to Stephen Lawrence where they dragged their feet and allowed Stephen's killers to escape from the scene of the murder) then you should inform your MP as well.

Above all, you should be careful and keep a watchful eye over your shoulder when walking home as it seems the area you live in has a few racists there and this first attack may be to test the ground and racists do not operate in single units as they seem to have like minded racists like them egging them on behind the scenes.

I remember years ago a black teenager (19 yr old) visited his white girlfriend in a racist part of Birmingham after dark but unbeknownst to him some white teenage boys were tracking them as the girl escorted him to the bus-stop and the guy and his girlfriend were waylaid as they walked through an alley way and the white guys used an axe to smash the black guys head killing him instantly.

If I were you, I would not keep late nights, not walk through deserted alley ways etc and for me personally, I wouldn't feel safe living in that area again although personally I've always preferred seeing enough black faces where ever I live although this is not too hard in South London.

For me, there is safety in numbers.

Stay safe but report the incident to the police ASAP. just dial 999 and take it from there .

But whatever you do don't give the cops or your MP the chance to "reverse" tag you a racist which they may do if your first statement to them is that you were attacked by a "white" kid. Its human nature for them to feel that you are demonizing their race by your first mentioning "white". Instead tell them you were attacked by a boy / man etc and let it be the police or the MP who first ask you what color the attacker is and then you will mention that he is white but don't be the one to mention his race first, wait until the police ask you for this detail so that they don't get on the defensive immediately they hear the word "white".

I've lived in London for a while but when I'm out and about at night especially after midnight and I hear more than one male (of any race) walking up behind me, I find a way to stop and cross the road if need be depending on how late at night it is and my assessment of the situation.

The police were trying to be clever by half to be asking you if you wanted to press charges for a racially motivated assault. They should have pressed charges regardless of your wanting to or not unless they themselves are racist sympathizers - (Remember that the Met police was branded institutionally racist in the Stephen Lawrence case by the person who headed the murder inquiry - Sir William McPherson - a high court Judge, a member of the British establishment who was also a white but had a sense of outrage at the racist incompetence of the Met police for letting Stephen's killers escape in the first few hours after he was stabbed at a desolate bus stop in Eltham, London late at night but his friend escaped).

Also, it is VERY telling that taxi driver(s) have told you that the area you live could be deadly and if the Taxi driver(s) plural were white then it is more telling and if they were Asian or black then they were giving you a subtle warning to be careful about that area or move out of the area if you want to stay safe.

Makes me remember when I sold my house in 2004 and on the day I was moving out, my unemployed white next door neighbor, and her entire family were openly jubilating as their kids could now run riot and disturb other peoples mortgaged properties by kicking footballs at the houses and I suppose they wouldn't have been too happy that kept my kids under control and they did not see my kids run riot like theirs. Those Taxi drivers have given you a subtle warning which I think you should heed and I don't know whether you are entitled to being rehoused by the council because in the UK, if you feel unsafe in your home, you are deemed to be technically homeless and the council is duty bound to rehouse you and you are best advised to start looking for new accommodation away from that toxic, racist area and whilst you are at it, follow up the police case, book an appointment to see your MP and GP and also the citizens advice bureau who will write you letters that will help your case with the council if you are eligible to council housing but stress to the council if you are eligible that you want to move out of the area due to the blatantly racially aggravated physical assault you suffered in your own home and research any new area you will be moving to on this website to be sure you are not moving from frying pan into fire.

You may have to install an alarm in your home and CCTV outside your home which the police may be compelled to install in this case especially if your MP writes to them.

If you still want to stay in Newcastle, you are best advised to move to an Area of Newcastle well populated by Asians or Blacks as those racists don't feel comfortable living in areas with large Black or Asian populations.

I support medical euthanasia as practiced in Switzerland. If the patient is able to give consent to it, then fine. If unable to give consent, at least 2 independent doctors should provide an assessment of the prognosis. If the doctors says the prognosis is grim and the family members of the patient agree, then it's ethically sensible not to prolong the suffering of the patient. Scotland has recently adopted this.

GOOD THAT YOU'VE MADE THE DECISION TO MOVE OUT as that your so called white friend who called you an ape and punched you in your own home is no longer a friend and bears a deep seated grudge against you - probably because you are more educated and earn more than him and remind him of his inadequacies.

Since the friend racist knows a lot about you, you are best advised to move far away from him but then again, once you press charges, you may have to supply your new address to the court for the case and even if not so, it may be the police who give the racist your new address as I wouldn't be surprised if not a few UK police staff are members of the (BNP) British National Party - a banned racist organisation.

I don't know if you are a student or are working and can afford NOT to live in a shared house but if you can't afford a studio flat or one bedroom flat and have to move to a shared house, make sure you move to one owned by an Asian or a Black person as that is relatively safer if you must live in a shared house in an area where white Taxi drivers don't feel safe.

If you still have to move into a shared house, then ask a few Asian shop keepers (off licences and corner shops) if they had any friend or family who had rooms to let and you will get a room quickly.
