Pray for God's guidance, i started POS business and noticed it pays more than my job before I resigned, The guy is not setting up a POS business as his final bus stop, he will have time to look for better opportunities.

Dear Nairalanders please help me out , I secure a new job in bank in Lagos and the salary is 55,000 per month for a start and they will increase it after three months and from my house to my office is not far is trekkable I don't pay Tp to work.

And I also have a new pos machine that will give me money too I don't know what to do since the bank job Don't give me time to combine the two, my bank working hours is from 7am to 5pm and I can't combine the two .
Please can I resign in the Bank and concentrate with the POS business
or should leave the POS and concentrate with the bank Job .

If you have a capital of a million plus with a good location, you might be getting about 200k a month. A brother of mine has like 4 POS shops, dude makes nothing less than 700k a month from all his shops

POS business is cool when you have enough capital and a good location(proliferation of the business doesn't matter here). You can assign a trusted person to handle the POS business for you while you still continue your bank job.

But i have yet to see a POS point with so much traffic as to generate 200k profit in a month, considering that every square kilometer, you find up to 15 POS centres even around car wash, eatery, mechanic workshops, spare parts villages , barbing and hair saloon, and in neighborhoods etc

My advice is this, don't quite your bank job now. Untill your POS business is fully running, you can even collect a loan from your bank and run your POS business. Also make sure you get someone trustworthy to be running the POS business for you, until you find you ground before you talk about quitting.

I suggest you dump the bank job because I did same when I got an interview with the then Intercontinental Bank now Access and now following my profession which is paying me well. I have a friend who left his First Bank job now doing POS businesses and now doing very fine. But if you can employ someone to do the POS for you while you do your banking job, it is still ok.

Ok in each of his shops, a day's transaction is more than a million naira. His busiest shop were he usually work, run a daily transaction of about 2million+ a day. And in a day, his profits from all his shops is 20k/30k a day. So calculate all his profits from his four shops for a month. So where is the lie?

The thing is, he has enough money which he uses in running the business. I'm not sure little money will give you much profit if you want to do the POS business.

You are lucky I saw this post. Infact it is God doing. See madam or Oga gain no dey that thing again oo. I know someone, a family friend pricisely who left her bank Job for this.

She is regretting bitterly and heavily now. Infact she is even planning to use the money she saved from her job to start a business.

There is no job in Naija. So when you see one hold it tight. What you just need to do is to add a side hustle to it. A side hustle that can fetch you more money without living the comfort of your home. Simple.

With your 100k, you can make 1k- 2k if you're good in negotiations.


I'll advise not to be eager about the profit too much, but try and get started.

Consistency is key in this business.

Let me educate you a little ,some pos company come with a monthly target some 3 million while others 100 transactions per month and you earn incentives. I have never see anyone who does a bank job and his life remain same even if you are not as rich as you should be you will be very successful in other markets (Labour or Trade)

I have a POS shop... Bros, be calming down in your analysis. The POS biz isn't that lucrative again. In some street, you get close to 15 POS shop if not more than. POS shop is just to earn passive income.

I will advice the guy to take his banking job serious.
