Like almost all sports, it takes time to get how the the tactics work and how adjustments change the flow of the game. If you keep watching and especially listen to the technical part of the commentary you will start to get a picture of how the tactical game of bball is done

Maybe until then, but all the 'pass & throws' I always see don't look tactical to me, considering that it involves 5 men on each side.

They call him the point god for a reason, but still Bucks in 6.

He's amazing. This is probably the first time in over 10years(maybe since steve nash) the nba has seen a pure point guard being the best player on a team, still not being a FIRST-SHOOT-POINT-GUARD.

Most A-LIST FIRST-PASS-POINT-GUARDS had 1 or 2 better scorers than them on the same team.
Stockton had malone and honaseck being better scorers. And stockton wasn't best on that team.

Magic had kareem and worthy(somehow)

Nash had Dirk(at some point).

But in our lifetime we haven't really seen a team going deep into a playoffs to finals having it's most dangerous player being a pure-point-guard.

Maybe like once or twice in my lifetime.

Its unbelievable.

Theres a reason the nba refused to let him join kobe. He knows how to alter the game regardless of his tean. When Harden wasted that opportunity is when I really started hating Harden.

To keep it 100, cp3 of 5 years ago would not play thru injury. But I guess he understands father time better now.

Why did david stern spoil that trade?
I don't really get the full reasons till now.
I know it had something to do with stern being the defacto gm of new orleans at the time. Or something like that.
Harden needed more scorers around him, hence his move to nets.

Congrats to the Tampa Bay Lightnings for winning tonight and ultimately clinching the Stanley Cup tonight.

What do you guys think of the NBBF’s recruitment of the Ogwumike sisters to play for Nigeria at the Olympics?
Re: The NBA Begins by benji93: 3:14pm On Jul 08, 2021
If they get clearance na to watch our women play at the Olympics be that ooo. Perhaps that changes our fortune in that group. I just don't like the fact that if they do star, Nigeria would just be a rebound. cheesy grin

I feel you on the “rebound” issue, although the two older sisters were good enough to represent Team USA. It must also be crushing to the other ladies in the D’Tigress camp who had hopes of making the team, but will certainly be dropped for Nneka and Chiney.
Re: The NBA Begins by benji93: 3:40pm On Jul 08, 2021
I believe in only the best should be selected. Nneka especially is an elite player in the WNBA, although she may have dipped following her MVP and championship years. I am still pained by the fact that some of these players will be dropped cos the Ogwumike sisters decided to represent Nigeria, and i wish we could have it another way. I mean it would be nice to reject some of them because the players who made us first choice are actually really good. grin. But it is what it is. If you want to compete, you invite better players. No sympathies. cheesy

Nneka situation definitely caused a huge uproar in the US last month and it was much talked about.

The US basketball selection committee had a difficult decision to make but to me they did Nneka wrong. She is still the only MVP that has not made the Olympic roster and that makes it even more difficult.

While I do understand she is returning from a knee injury, she is was confident along with her Sparks coach that she would be ready for the Olympics. What makes it worse is that Turasi and S. Bird made the roster despite being out longer than Nneka.

I think Nneka’s heart is with the US and while they await the go ahead from FIBA, some players from the US roster may fall off because of injuries or personal issues and that may open a spot for Nneka but that would be up to Nneka, depending on the timeline.

Stern said he felt the Hornets were being robbed, that not enough was given in return for CP3. Which was ridiculous, considering they were getting Odom, Scola , KMart and Dragic, all rock solid starters.

The real reason was probably more of payback because of the role CP3 played on behalf of players during the lockout. Till now, there are still refs who like to diminish CP3 when they officiate him, because he demands that respect in player-owner meetings. There is one black uncle tom referee in particular, cant remember his name. He makes sure to give CP3 at least one T every game he can grin

He is not the best player on the Suns - he can and will step in and carry the scoring load, but that is not what makes him special. He will knock down 3s if need be, ala Jason Kidd on the Nets, but you wont win a ring using him like that. His primary strength is to cancel the opposing team's coaching adjustments and allow his scorers to eat you raw.

Havent you wondered how he is able to get to that same spot on the floor and shoot those deadly midrange floaters. Like half a dozen times each game, at least. Opponents will rather live with those than have him get his teamates going

Pls who else is the best player on the suns?
Is it booker or Ayton?

Cris paul is an old fine wine.

The opponents are not giving him free rides to get to those spots. He gets there too quick and off mismatches.

The last time we saw a pure-pointguard leading his team as the best player to conference finals was steve nash.

And before steve nash was Tim hardaway(miami heats) and then isaiah thomas(late 80's).

I don't know too much, but what cris paul is doing so far is scarce.

Booker for sure. They would rather CP3 go off than Booker go off. If you try to stop him from getting to his sweet spot, he will punish you by helping his team score. So you live with that floater. Less poisonous than a 3pter, or 2 points in the paint and potential and-1

nairamaniac:

Did suns or mavs ever reach the finals with Nash? Cant seem to remeber. Man he was deadly with the suns though. 18 assists per night. But CP3 is not a Nash - he is not that offensively gifted. I do not expect him to even average 25 pts a night - he is not a pure shooter. Or even a scorer.

nairamaniac:

IT is the only one that reminds me of CP3. Nash was a liability on defense. Hardaway was a baller, not a championship PG

no doubt. and I dont think there will be a replacement in the NBA

Jrue Holiday is such an unreliable player offensively. Add to that the inconsistency of Middleton. This is the supporting cast people expect Giannis to win a championship with?

It's necessary. Very necessary. The Olympics is not for children. You can see by the calibre of players invited to the men's team. Even our long time captain and assistant captain got ditched. You can see by the calibre of players going for USA. The Ogwumike sisters would add a much-needed quality to this team. The team without them are very good when it comes to their African counterparts, but they constantly fall short against the Europeans and north Americans.

Just see Middleton!!!! Shea them they flex against the hawks, now see a better team with good coaching him don disappear. grin grin grin grin this is the same team some clowns say play better without giannis? I laugh in swahili. Without giannis this team is not different from the current pelicans, hornets and low levelled teams etc.

I know y'all are shitting on Khris currently and understandably so but don't right Him off yet. He is down for atleast two 30+ games in a series so it's down to the others minus Giannis to capitalise on it when He does go off.

Khris is quite inconsistent but one thing ! know about him is that he enjoys playing at home. Some of his best performances in the post season have been at home.

No one is writing him off, all we saying is he's too inconsistent. In shut the other supporting casts are way too inconsistent, they now have a clueless coach again that's one dimensional. I still believe the bucks win this championship but they gotta step up.

Haha.. Baba no worry, the Bucks will get one game at least back at home and make this a series again. Problem is, the Suns play very well at home and personally that is because they have the strongest mentality amongst all the teams in the playoffs. They are one team I can trust with a healthy lead.

Oh I definitely agree with you about Him being extremely inconsistent. I have said it many times that I don't think He can be your Number 2 Guy and I stand by that until proven otherwise. However He, He has really stepped up big time this postseason. Go through His run of games this post season and you'd see that He has been absolutely immense. I have to give credit to whom it's due.

The Less said about Bud the better. I don leave hin matter to amadioha.
