Bros, I be Aba boy to the core, with enough street credibility, from Ngwa Road down to Omuma Road...but my guy, there's a difference between madman/lunatic and a psycho. The touts in Aba are madmen/lunatics, but their counterparts in Onitsha are a notch wilder. They are psychos grin grin. From Upper Iweka to River Niger bridge, I know them wella. Especially those Obosi boys. grin grin grin. They will never use their 6. It's always 7 for them, anytime anyday

please don't be in a haste to tell them where you are going, just hold ur bag very well and keep straight face, be mean and never tell them where you are going to when they ask, until you reach ur destination park.

As for me, I won't answer them until I reach GUO park.

I will keep on saying it, the only good places to live in in Nigeria are Abuja and manageably Akwa Ibom, if you have money you can stay in the safer parts of Lagos. The whole of SE is a shit nest, terrible roads, bigots, pokenosers, agberos, cultists etc. You can find em here, as for the SW and North, they are just as terrible.

My friend shared her terrible experience at Upper Iweka. It was an experience I don't wish anyone to go through. Fear that place.
Merely walking across with a luggage, haaaaa, you're in for it.
My friend even gave a testimony at the Church as regards this bad experience. cool

It is Nigerias fault not Ndigbo.
The only people that fight them is Vigilante boys.
Do you know how many times they call police on them? That is why they need police protection to do that nonsense.
When they harassed you didn't you see police by the side or close to their stand?

If you are a foreigner in the SE and you need directions, don’t ask any agbero, they are not nice and would only direct you to their colleagues. When they direct you to a colleague, they have a percentage in your transport fare, so it has to be inflated to accommodate that percentage.

Look around you for a responsible youth of your kind! Approach them and ask them for directions. They will direct you to the kind of place they’ll also love to enter and it won’t be those scattered parks.

Years back I was in the SE and I saw two corp members, na agaghari ka aturu n’enweghi onye nche. They asked one hoodlum and he was already taking them there before I cornered the girl, the guy had to stop too. The hoodlum got impatient and left. Sometimes if I see you looking lost, I don’t assume you know where you are going, I ask why you are there. If you tell me you know your way or you are waiting for someone, I proceed.

I have experienced this before, 2019 when i was going to Ebonyi for my service year, decided to take a bus to Enugu and take Afikpo from there as directed. Exact thing happened to me and two other guys, i even paid 3thrice normal fee to enugu, i no sabi anything then, i just paid but my luck was that i and those guys filled up the bus, they settled the driver and we left there immediately. The persangers said theyve been seated in the bus for almost 3hrs, none couldn't get done because of the fear of being rubbed by these guys. They hijacked the bus too and brought the driver to the corner where the evil was perpetrated.

Meanwhile people were there but they all minded their business. It was such a bitter experience for a first time east traveller like me. I learnt the hard way actually.

You were there as a graduate but you couldn’t spell the word ‘passenger’ correctly and you don’t know the difference between rub and rob??

It's not Obiano's legacy. Onitsha has always been like that. I experienced it even before Obiano came into office. I hate that city like mad
Onitsha used to be rough from day1 but Peter Obi reduced the menace to the barest minimum, Obiano maintained d tempo in his early days cos I heard Obiano said d first ever car he bought was snatched from him at Upper Iweka
But I don't know what changed recently.
Seems his major backers got the better of him.

Those clowns are just making up stories just to feel good. Who doesn't know that Lagos has the worst form of motorpark park thuggery, tout, etc. That's why the yoruba nomenclature "agbero" is almost a universal word

Pardon my errors

I traveled yesterday from the southwest to attend a wedding in Owerri. I got to onitsha around 12 noon because of the vehicle. I have been directed to take keke to peace park. I took keke from the park, but the keke guy took I and the lady with me to another pack. On getting there, I was still confused because I didn't see the name 'peace' there. The guys there cut the ticket and wrote 2550 to Owerri... As I was trying to tell him No... Some guys came trying to harass the lady... Creating fear by trying to hijack her bag... So, she ran and said we should pay for the vehicle... The guy took us to the vehicle in disguise that he was trying to protect us saying onitsha is now bad... We paid and met some people in the vehicle.

To cut the story short... That same keke and another kept bringing people for them and they harass them that way. Once u enter that park... U can't go out... U will pay for the ticket under duress. We left there past 2pm....It was later I discovered the driver and vehicle was hijacked too... He was given 1k and they took the rest. The keke guys were positioned for it. They collected double money from some women, made them cry and they paid again. They vehicle was going to owerri, they took bayelsa and Portharcourt passengers and collected huge money but will not go with them.

One of those criminals said they can't be reported to the police because police is a syndicate too... In fact, I discovered that all the people we met in the vehicle were part of the team of criminals. The name on the ticket is 'All Roads park'.

I have not had this experience before... Lagos is not as worse as this from my experience. There is a big park beside this people, and nobody is rebuking them from this evil. They extort, hijack and make women weep. It is a terrible business...

How many of us have encountered such?

I had the same experience two months ago. The park is beside the pedestrian bridge, Lagos park, Upper Iweka, Onitsha. I was going to Aba that day from Asaba and my intention was to go to peace park and board a bus. Immediately I came down from the bridge, one man asked me where I was going and I said Aba. He said the there was a bus there going to Aba that was almost full. So I followed him, getting there, they said it's N2,500 to Aba. I was skeptical about buying the ticket. Two touts came to me and started pointing at my phone in my pocket that it's theirs. I was speechless and the guys loading the bus asked me to pay for the ticket and enter the bus immediately so that they will not collect my phone from me. I was restless at that moment because the guys were eager to attack me. So I paid N2,500 to Aba. Many people were also harassed until they boarded the bus. Later on, I discovered there were, Aba, Owerri, Portharcourt and Akwa Ibom passengers in the bus. When the bus was finally full after much delay, they told us that the bus was going to Owerri irrespective of where you are going. But I paid N2,500 to take me to Aba while some paid 3k and above depending on where they were going. So those that paid above N2,500 were given back some amount. They wanted to fight us( passengers) for protesting about their dubious act. But we just calmed down so that we could depart from their park. Once you enter that park, they will harass you until you enter the bus out of fear. My advice to anyone travelling through Onitsha is, never enter a bus/Sienna at that park beside Lagos park. Those men/guys there are not Human beings, they are heartless.

As a stranger going to a new place you should shine your eye, upper iweka is a notorious place well known even beyond anambra....if you no shine your eye dey go chop you. I once used a wooden plank to cross the road and some boys accosted me asking why I didn't use the pedestrian bridge omo I changed it for them though I was a bit scared but it I didn't show it so they had to let me go.

Don't enter any vehicle in upper iweka if you're not conversant with the place, there are other parks that can take you to anywhere in Nigeria.

Then you are not been sincere.
Lagos will never get money from you as soon as you enter their vehicle. They will wait till the vehicle is 95percent full before collecting fares and should there be any reason for you not to travel again your money will be refunded without any stress.

Shut up liar. I have entered bus at Ojota(Lagos) to Onitsha and they collected my money, and after spending hours, they refused to leave the park. It was after past 12noon we realised they were touts because all of them disappeared leaving the bus. We were confused as to whether to sit in the bus till night or board another bus to Onitsha. The issue of motorpark touting is more in Lagos. I haven't even mentioned oshodi, Maza maza, etc

Onitsha has one if not the worst criminal syndicates operating around motor parks and its cities in the world.. I got attacked by a group of boys at around 7pm last year December on transit to delta issues with the car that was to take me straight to delta to the glaring eyes of everyone in their vehicles and passersby on the road and they beat me up and succeeded in taking my phone from my pocket while i was struggling with them from taking my bag containing my laptop and hard drive harbouring all my life's work. I thank God they couldnt snatch the bag from me becos it would have been so devastating to me. If u are new to Onitsha, be very very careful. I also suspect that they target non-indigenes the most and there is a strong conspiracy of silence going on in that place to maintain the huge criminal enterprise over there. And the strangest thing in all this is that there are military and police manned check points everywhere yet this criminality continues unabated so definitely, the security system is also involved to make it a frightening systematic criminal enterprise.

Let me tell you one secret. No agbero operates without the knowledge of police and they operate few meters from police Checkpoints. For example the one before dust bin site after Electrical Obosi is 2 meters before police Checkpoints. Most times both them and the police will be talking to the same driver at once

It is not a tribal war, but truth be told issue of touting is more in Lagos.

Onitsha is a great city and well planned. The city hosts some of the best planned parks, markets, industrial complexes, etc. Though some isolated cases of extortion happens, though it is not peculiar to Onitsha as it happens all over the major cities in Nigeria, particularly Lagos where it is worse.

Onitsha is the greener pasture to many states in igbo land like Imo, Enugu, ebonyi, etc. Onitsha is truly an elegant city east of the Niger

I don’t believe or think that non indigenes are their targets. That’s not true.

A police man friend of my cousin who work at the brick house (CID) Enugu was robbed and had his phone taken from him at Upper Iweka. He lamented not having a pistol with him. It was embarrassing.

A cousin was accosted by two boys at Onitsha. One slapped her very hard while the other took her handbag, the two ran off but guess what, some police men were few metres away from where this incident happened.
It’s sad.
I had issues with these people at Ekwulobia sometime ago but the people I had problem with became my very good friends today.
