This story hit home for me. I am not a bigot or an ethnic jingoist, but truth be told easterners really need to work on themselves to end this very bad and dubious tendencies that they are known for. I have my own experience at the hands of transporters from that region. Many years back i wanted to travel to PH from Lag, but it was around past 10am, and all the reputable transporters which i would have used, had ended the loading of PH vehicles. It was a Sunday and by all means i had to make the trip, as I had an exam the next day in my school. I had to take a decision i would never have taken before. I went to a park in Ojota where they load 14 seaters, that aren't registered under any company. It's a conspicuous park at Ojota. They normally put up signs that read - Owerri, Onitsha, Aba, PH. I paid and boarded one of the buses. We reached Onitsha, everyone alighted, and the driver just casually went away, and it was then i realized from one or two victims like me that they were not going any further. I was shocked to my marrow. Most people in the bus stopped at Onitsha. I think we were about 3 people that unknowingly fell into those fraudsters hands. It was getting dark. I had to go to a junction not far away to see if the buses on the highway were loading PH. I waited, and waited till it was completely dark, and a young man advised me not to stand there as i could get robbed. I felt so emotionally destroyed, as i realized that i would not be able to arrive in time for my exam which was starting by 8am. I had to go back inside the park with my luggage, found an empty bus, and slept till the next morning when i took a bus to PH. THE carry over i ultimately got in that course caused me major problems for graduation. On analysing what happened to me i realized that these parks will just put up those PH signs but almost never reach PH. THey stop at Onitsha. They put up PH signs in order to load their buses much quicker by deceiving unknowing passengers. Easterners need to work on themselves. It is very strange that people can live their lives off deceiving and cheating people off their money. They do this all over the country. Even buses loading from Aba to PH. Many of them will say the final busstop will be at mile 1 in PH, but on arriving PH at Eleme junction they will tell everyone to alight from the bus, that they are not going again. Which kind of people are these? How do people live that type of life? 17 Likes 1 Share |

Even in the military regime, crime was rampant back in the days especially in Abacha day. So let no one tell you a lie, pickpocketing and robbery was the order back then. Falling into the wrong hands when travelling is not matter of being wise, but just being unfortunate , n. You can be wisest and most street guy in naija and can fall into the hand of criminals if you are not careful. Na only God grace dey save person 5 Likes |

I have practically read from page 1-8. Now those of you making a tribal thing should just chill ehh myself na Igbo but I don hear am too. I remember my NYSC days in kogi and am from Imo, so I can't avoid ontisha. I was en route from kogi to owerri, I did not wear any NYSC thing for body. I had to cross that upper iweka bridge by foot cos traffic de, and others were walking too. Out of no where 2 odd looking guys came out from nowhere flashed a police ID and asked me where am I going to that they need to search my bag. Immediately I activate my 6th sense cos I know upper iweka boys and their stories. Me too bring out my NYSC ID card flash am too and told them "am sorry you can't search me, am a corper " I come move waka, next thing I hear be say "corper no de commit crime" I no even answer them I move, they too turn back. To be honest na God save me, I did not know where the boldness came from. If say I do JJC they for search me come plant something for my bag and that is the end. This happened in 2010. Till now, I can't enter a vehicle that will stop me at onitsha. If I no see direct car from lagos instead I enter asaba own. Not in my life to stop and change vehicle in ontisha. If them no rob you, them go rape you, harrash you, dupe you or delay you something go sha happen especially if you de there cross 6pm you are on your own. Sometimes even the Igbo language no the help and like I will always advice, travel light, if them see you struggling with load they don't need any invitation. Travel light and walk like a mad man swinging arms and leg in different directions. 11 Likes |

[Please sir do you stay in Onitsha? There's an elderly woman I'm seriously searching for. uoteor=samwillyco1 post=103559478]Sorry Bros, but next time be wise and rugged. Upper Iweaka is a very bad area for the first timers if you don't change your step to look like that of rugged guy. ELKHALIFAISIS: Guy am full blooded Igbo. I feel more safe both in park and on the street ( day time precisely) than Onitsha, cos my recent encounter and the story i have been hearing from people concerning theft in Onitsha made me believe that Onitsha is the worst city to be. A city where you will get robbed in public on a broad daylight and no body dares come to your rescue or questioning them, not even the police. I repeat Lagos is much better than Onitsha. Igbo leaders should do something B4 it's too late. 7 Likes 2 Shares |
